During the EA Play conference to kick off the E3 2019 festivities, a new Legend for Apex Legends was announced, and she goes by the name of Wattson, though her real name is Natalie Paquette. She was revealed in an illustrated story trailer narrated by her father, and he explains how proud he is that she has become a scientific genius and electrical engineer.
As far as Wattson’s abilities, she can control the flow of battle with defensive electrical walls and pylons that negate incoming fire. Respawn is saying that she’s a very different character from the rest of the roster in terms of what she’s capable of and how she fits into the bigger picture. In her backstory, Wattson and her father actually built the Apex Arena, and she grew up around it. She plays a large role into the Apex Legends lore as the team tries to build out the game’s story more.
If you’ve been out of the loop, Apex Legends is the battle royale FPS from Titanfall developers Respawn Entertainment, published by EA. The Season 2 battle pass was also detailed during EA Play; it’s included many new challenges and a different structure with it challenged-based rather than timed. There’s also a new weapon coming to the game called the L-Star, which is a callback to Titanfall 2–it’s a gold-tier gun that can only be found in care package drops.
