PS4 Update Out Soon, Lets You Stream Games To Android Phones; Parties Also Updated

A big new firmware update for PlayStation 4 is coming this week, and it introduces a number of “key system features,” according to Sony. The first of these is an update for Parties.

The Party system has been “rebuilt” to support Parties with a maximum number of 16, which is double the previous limit of eight. Additionally, Sony says it has improved the quality of “network connectivity,” while audio quality has also been upgraded. On top of that, Party chat now features a Transcription option in the US only that aims to offer an accessibility support for those who need it.

The Transcription feature uses the PS4 “Second Screen” app for your smartphone that converts English voice chat to text. User can also enter text and then have it be read aloud to other Party members.

The second big new feature in the PS4 7.0 update is expanded Remote Play. Players can now stream PS4 games to their Android smartphone or tablet. Remote Play was already available on iOS. For users of Apple devices, the 7.0 update introduces the ability to lock the screen orientation and display the on-screen controller at all times.

Additionally, the PS4 7.0 update adds DualShock 4 support through Bluetooth for Remote Play across all devices: Android, iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
