The Elder Scrolls: Legends–Bethesda Is No Longer Developing New Content

The Elder Scrolls: Legends is winding down, with Bethesda announcing that the game will no longer receive new content. In a post on the game’s Reddit, Bethesda said that the additional content pack scheduled for 2019 will not release, and that development on all content going forward has ceased.

This is not the end for The Elder Scrolls: Legends–it’s still available to download and play, and the post promises continued support in the form of “monthly reward cards and regular in-game events.” Ongoing maintenance is promised too, but don’t expect new expansions. The most recent released expansion, Moons of Elsweyr, launched in June this year.

All players who log in from now will receive a free card pack, The Tamriel Collection, which features “an assortment of new, three-attribute cards.” The post also promises that the Asia-specific version of Legends currently in development is not affected by this news. There’s no word on whether the planned Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch versions will ever release now, but it seems unlikely.

We didn’t review The Elder Scrolls: Legends, but it was generally well received, and the PC version has a score of 80 on Metacritic. Curiously, Bethesda has recently committed to releasing more mobile games like Legends. Their other major mobile titles as of right now are Fallout Shelter and The Elder Scrolls: Blades.
