Rainbow Six Siege Update Out Now On PS4, Xbox One–Here’s What It Does

Ubisoft has revealed the patch notes for Rainbow Six Siege‘s new Y4S2.2 update, which is available now on PS4 and Xbox One. The patch will seemingly not be released on PC.

“The Y4S2.2 patch will be primarily bug fixes aimed at cleaning up issues raised during the Test Server and during the early weeks of season release while we prepare for the next update and work on other major issues,” Ubisoft said in a blog post. “Clash and deployable shields have previously been re-enabled on live servers across all platforms, but we are continuing to monitor the fix that went out.”

The most notable changes in the update are tweaks to the recently-introduced reverse friendly fire. The threshold at which RFF kicks in when attacking hostages have been changed, Ubisoft says.

Additionally, Lesion’s Gu mines have had their cloaking mechanics changed. Going forward, they will have the same type of clock as Echo’s drone, in order to prevent detection through ballistic shields.

New Borderlands 3 Trailer Sees Vault Hunters Dance In A Murderous Musical

Gearbox has released a new trailer for Borderlands 3. The trailer sees the game’s four playable Vault Hunters–Moze, FL4K, Zane, and Amara–all dance to the song “So Happy Together” while they kill an army of bandits. All things considered, it’s not the weirdest thing that Borderlands has ever done but it’s still pretty silly.

The trailer, which can be watched above, begins with Claptrap dancing as a loot crate behind him opens. Inside the crate, a mini version of Pandora comes to life and Zane begins to playfully shoot the bandits surrounding him as “So Happy Together” starts to play. Although the other three Vault Hunters initially look at Zane with confusion, they all soon join in and the remainder of the murderous musical is devoted to showcasing each of the characters’ unique special abilities.

FL4K brings out the beasts under his control to chew on downed bandits to the rhythm of the music. Moze summons Iron Bear and crushes some enemies as the song transitions into the chorus. Zane dances to the chorus alongside his holographic decoy, and the two twirl together arm in arm while murdering the surrounding bandits. Finally, Amara joins the fray, careening down into the crowd with her Siren powers erupting into a colorful explosion. The four Vault Hunter then all join hands and dance together as they continue to shoot all the enemies around them.

We’ve had a chance to play with three of Borderlands 3’s Vault Hunters–Zane, Amara, and Moze. We’ve got skill tree breakdowns on The Operative, The Siren, and The Gunner so you and your friends can begin planning your ideal squad loadout. Borderlands 3 takes inspiration from recent modern day shooters, such as Titanfall 2, and implements mechanics like climbing and sliding for a faster combat experience. Several new loot-based features have also been implemented to make a more enjoyable experience for those who prefer to play Borderlands games solo. Story-wise, Borderlands 3 introduces a lot of new stuff as well, including space travel, villains based on “really annoying” streamers, and a renewed focus on the mystery surrounding the Sirens.

Borderlands 3 is scheduled to release on September 13 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. The game will also release on Google Stadia in November 2019. The PC version of Borderlands 3 will launch on the Epic Games Store first, before releasing on Steam in 2020. Every edition of the game is now available for pre-order.

New PS4 System Update Out Now, Here’s What It Does (Not Much)

Sony has released a new system software update for PS4, but it doesn’t add all that much. The brief official patch notes state the update “improves system performance.”

The 6.72 update is available now, and it weighs in at around 463 MB. The “system performance” line is a fairly standard one for minor updates like this.

The next major PS4 update, meanwhile, is still in beta. That patch will contain big improvements to the console’s Party chat system, including increased chatroom size, better audio quality, and improved network connectivity. There are also a couple of neat accessibility options being tested: the PS4 Second Screen mobile app will allow you to enter text to be spoken aloud to other party members. Additionally, the app can transcribe incoming chat audio from your friends.

In other PlayStation news, July’s PS Plus games are available now. After a mix-up where a game was announced and then swapped out, this month’s free titles are Detroit: Become Human and Horizon Chase Turbo.

Borderlands 3 Won’t Have Cross-Play At Launch, But It Could Come Later

Borderlands 3 will not have cross-play support at launch in September, but the feature could be added at some point after release. Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford confirmed this on Twitter.

His statement came after Gearbox released a teaser inviting players to a “celebration of togetherness.” Some people saw this as a reference to cross-play, but that’s not the case. The teaser was for something else; whatever it is, it’ll be revealed on July 16 at 7 AM PT / 10 AM ET.

“Some folks may be speculating that this thing tomorrow may be about cross-play,” Pitchford said. “Tomorrow’s thing is awesome, but *not* about cross-play. But, Good News: We are committed to supporting cross-play for Borderlands 3 with our partners as soon as practicable after launch. #talklater”

Pitchford went on to confirm outright that Borderlands 3 has no cross-play at launch, though conversations are ongoing about making this a reality. “To be clear, there will not be any cross-play functionality in Borderlands 3 at launch as we work closely with our partners to create a positive cross-play experience as soon as practicable,” he said. “We are committed to cross-play on as many platforms as possible.”

According to Pitchford, Borderlands 3 publisher 2K Games makes all the decisions about “platform partnerships,” and this would presumably include cross-play. “Myself and the team at Gearbox have a very keen interest in cross-platform play,” Pitchford said back in April.

Borderlands 3 has four-player co-op support, so it appears cross-play functionality would be for this. However, nothing is confirmed at this stage.

Borderlands 3 launches on September 13 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, while the game is also coming to Google Stadia.

The Madden 20 ratings are decided by EA’s Andre Weingarten and Dustin Smith. You can learn a lot more about the process of how they come up with player ratings in this fascinating ESPN feature.

The Madden NFL ratings were for a long time formulated by ratings czar Donny Moore until he retired in 2015. Madden NFL 20’s player ratings will change as the season progresses based on how players perform on the field.

Something new for Madden 20 are the new X-Factor abilities that give the highest-rated players unique special skills that can be used in certain circumstances. This will theoretically boost a player’s OVR even further, though it remains to be seen how it will all shake out.

Madden 20 launches on August 2 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. EA Access members will get a limited amount of time to play the game early, as usual.

Kingdom Come, Which Has A Chicken In Every Cutscene, Is Featured In August’s Humble Monthly Bundle

Watch out, Amazon Prime DayHumble Monthly, the subscription service that delivers a group of PC games to your gaming account every month, has Kingdom Come: Deliverance as one of its titles for August 2019.

Deliverance is a no-fantasy RPG from Mafia creator Daniel Vavra’s studio, Warhorse. The game was originally released in 2018 for PC, as well as PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

GameSpot’s review of Kingdom Come scored the game an 8/10. “This is one of those rare, memorable games that stays with you long after you stop playing,” reviewer Brett Todd said.

Other outlets praised the game as well, but if that’s not enough to get you to consider picking it up on Humble Monthly, you should know that there is a chicken in every cutscene in the game.

“In every single [cutscene], appropriate or not, there’s a hen somewhere in some form. And let me tell you, sometimes it was very challenging to find a spot for it and we had to be very creative,” Warhorse said on Reddit.

Another one of the Humble Monthly games for August is Surviving Mars, the highly acclaimed 2018 city-building game from Tropico developer Haemimont Games.

The rest of August 2019’s Humble Monthly titles will be announced later. You must subscribe by August 2 to get the bundle. Memberships are available starting at $12 USD/month.

Ebay’s Major Nintendo Switch Deal Sells Out In A Few Hours [Update]

[Update: The following deal is no longer available as all Switch consoles have sold out.] Amazon Prime Day 2019 is already underway and several other online retailers and stores have responded with their own limited-time sales to compete. Walmart has a great deal on Red Dead Redemption 2, for example, and Rightstuf is offering steep discounts on anime Blu-rays and collectibles. Ebay is getting in on the action too with its Hot Days deals, and the website is currently promoting a great discount for anyone looking for a new Nintendo Switch console.

The Nintendo Switch typically has a retail price of $300. Right now, on Ebay, with code PDEALS4U, you can knock that price down to $251.74. Of course, the final price will fluctuate depending on where you live in the US, as each state has different tax policies. Regardless, that’s a pretty steep discount, especially considering the rarity that Switch consoles go on sale.

See deal on Ebay

If you’re also looking for games to play on your new Switch, Amazon’s Prime Day 2019, Ebay’s Hot Days Sale, and GameStop’s Summer Sale are all offering discounts on dozens of titles. In terms of exclusives, some of the best options are The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for $50 and Pokemon: Let’s Go, Eevee for $30. There are third-party titles on sale as well. You can grab Tales of Vesperia – Definitive Edition for $30, for instance, and the pre-order price for Wolfenstein: Youngblood – Deluxe Edition has been cut down to $32.84.

The aforementioned Switch console discount nearly cuts the price of a normal Switch down to that of a Switch Lite, a completely handheld version of Nintendo’s current generation console. The Switch Lite comes in three colors–grey, blue, and yellow–and features an actual D-pad. However, the handheld device is smaller than the traditional Switch, can’t be docked, and is unable to play certain Switch game (like Super Mario Party).

We’re compiling all of the best deals going on right now, from anime Blu-rays to tabletop games and Funko Pops to PC accessories. If you’re in the market for something new, look below to see if you might be able to buy it at a discount.
