New Xbox Game Pass Games Announced For Xbox One
A new month has arrived, and that means a new round of games are coming to Xbox Game Pass. Microsoft has announced a new handful of titles being added to its subscription service on Xbox One in October, and they include some great releases.
First, Arkane’s acclaimed stealth game Dishonored 2 joins the Game Pass lineup on October 3. The following week, October 10, brings two more titles: the third-person zombie shooter World War Z and the retro-style 3D platformer Yooka-Laylee.
Three more games are being added to the service on October 17. First is the charming Felix the Reaper, which joins the Game Pass library the day it launches. Rounding out that day’s additions are two backwards-compatible titles: Fallout: New Vegas and the original Xbox classic Panzer Dragoon Orta.
Those aren’t the only games coming to Game Pass this month. The Outer Worlds, the new sci-fi RPG from Fallout: New Vegas developer Obsidian, is also joining the service on both console and PC the day it launches, October 25, and there may yet be more Game Pass games announced partway through the month. Top 10 UK Games Chart: FIFA 20 Is No.1, Of Course
In an unsurprising result, FIFA 20 is top of the UK all-format physical sales chart in its debut week. EA’s sports behemoth was the highest-selling boxed game for the week ending September 28, meaning The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening slips to No.2.
Other new games didn’t fare quite so well as FIFA. The Nintendo Switch version of Dragon Quest IX: Echoes of an Elusive Age enters at No.11, while Code Vein debuts at No.13 and The Surge 2 manages a No.35 finish. However, FIFA’s launch sent ripples across much of the chart; an Xbox One FIFA 20 bundle that included Gears 5, for example, caused the Xbox-exclusive shooter’s sales to soar by 70%.
We enjoyed EA’s latest football game here at GameSpot, awarding it an 8/10 in our FIFA 20 review. “Flawed and iterative, but comforting, complete, and compelling, FIFA 20 is as frustrating and as essential as ever,” we said. “The Journey and FIFA Street will continue to be missed, but Volta offers a genuinely different option for those who want to dip in and out across FIFA’s smorgasboard of game types, while Ultimate Team continues its route to world domination. It’s just a shame Career Mode continues to stagnate–even if EA has finally remembered it exists.”

Mario & Sonic’s Retro 2D Events Are Hilarious Fun
It’s been more than a decade since Mario and Sonic first laced up their shoes and competed against each other at the Olympic Games, spawning what would become a regular crossover franchise. But while the venue changes each time the mascots meet, the underlying game has largely remained the same over the past 12 years, and that holds true for this year’s installment, Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020.
Like previous entries in the series, Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 features a varied selection of new and returning Olympic events to compete in, ranging from classics such as the triple jump and 100m dash to new Dream Events like karate and hoverboarding. The biggest addition this time around, however, is the brand-new story mode, which introduces a handful of retro-inspired 2D events to the mix as well–and they’re the clear highlights of the package.
The story begins with Bowser and Dr. Eggman joining forces to finally defeat Mario and Sonic, and before long, the mascots are transported back in time to the 1964 Tokyo Olympic Games, complete with retro 2D visuals. There are 10 2D events in total in the game, running the gamut from diving and vaulting to volleyball and judo. Much like the 3D events, they’re all simple to grasp, and coupled with the retro visuals, they immediately bring to mind Konami’s classic Track & Field.
The presentation is a large part of why the 2D events are so amusing. Sonic and company take on their classic 16-bit looks, while Mario and the rest of the Mushroom Kingdom gang revert back to their 8-bit incarnations. These sprites don’t feature any new animations, so Princess Peach and Bowser will humorously bob up and down to “run” around the track.

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 launches exclusively for Nintendo Switch on November 5 in North America and November 8 in Europe. Sony Cuts PS Now Subscription Price For PS4 Worldwide
PlayStation Now, Sony’s game streaming service for PS4 and PC, is now available at a permanent lower price, the company has announced.
Monthly subscriptions are now available for $10 / £9, which is a considerable reduction from the previous $20 / £13 price point. Quarterly subscriptions, meanwhile, will now cost $25 / £23, having previously been $45 in the US and unavailable elsewhere. Finally, a year’s PS Now membership is now $60 / £50, down from $100 / £85.
The new price points are active right now; existing customers will see the new cost reflected in their upcoming bill. The price cut applies worldwide on the platform’s catch-all subscription–not on individual game rentals.
Sony also revealed a number of new titles being added to the PS Now library. God of War (2018), Infamous: Second Son, Grand Theft Auto V, and Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End are all now available as part of the service’s subscription offering–but they will be removed on January 2, 2020, Sony said.
PlayStation Now launched in 2014, at first allowing PS4 users to stream PS3 games before being expanded to include playable PS4 titles and to allow streaming to PCs. However, rival services have emerged in recent months and years, including the upcoming Google Stadia and Microsoft’s Project xCloud, which enters open beta this month.
