The long Black Friday weekend isn’t over, which means there are still a ton of gaming deals to sort through as you make your first holiday shopping run. GameStop lead the way in Black Friday deals by opening its physical locations before anyone else, so it makes sense many of their best deals are sold out. However, they still have some nice savings left for the weekend, especially early on Saturday and Sunday, as they restock their wares in the leadup to Cyber Monday.
Nintendo Switch offers are noticeably light in GameStop’s Black Friday deals. If you’re looking for a Switch Lite, you can get a $25 gift coupon when you buy any new Switch Lite. Otherwise, most of the big deals, like Nintendo’s official Black Friday 2019 bundle (the launch-model Switch with a digital copy of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for $300) and the Poke Ball Plus are all gone. GameStop does have a few first-party Switch games on sale, however, and it’s worth it to look at some of the sold-out entries in case they get restocked for Cyber Monday, when it’ll have more time-limited deals.
Best GameStop Black Friday deals
Check out GameStop’s full Black Friday schedule below, and read on for the best Black Friday deals we know about so far.
GameStop’s deals largely include the official deals from PlayStation and Xbox, such as the PS4 Slim holiday bundle with three console-exclusive games and the Xbox One X bundle for $350. Note that the following deals will be available at nearly all major retailers, so if something sells out at GameStop, you should check Amazon, Walmart, Target, and Best Buy. Deals will be available until December 2 (or while supplies last).
To be clear: We haven’t included everything that’ll be on sale at GameStop; we’ve just highlighted some of the most notable deals below. Check out GameStop’s Black Friday sale for the full list of deals available right now.

Multiple Xbox controllers will be on sale for $10 off during Black Friday, including the special-edition Gears 5 controller for $65 (previously $75) and other colors for $60 (previously $70 each). Tabletop fans will find a nice selection of board games and card games marked down, like the Funkoverse strategy games and the 80th anniversary Marvel Monopoly board game.

You don’t see as many sales on Nintendo games as you do those from other publishers, and when you do, they’re usually not that big. That’s what makes this year’s round of Nintendo Switch Black Friday deals so exciting; we haven’t seen discounts this big on Nintendo games in a long time. Some of the discounts got major games to as low as $30, though those deals unsurprisingly sold out pretty quickly (most of the current best deals are around $40). We’ve rounded up all of the big Nintendo Switch deals we could find and put them all in one place for your shopping pleasure.
Best Nintendo Switch Black Friday Game Deals
Nintendo’s official Switch deals are available at a variety of stores. This year, retailers like Amazon, Target, Best Buy, GameStop, and Walmart will have some of the most popular Switch games for 33% off, dropping the price on games like Mario Tennis Aces, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and Super Mario Odyssey from $60 to $40.
Google Shopping arguably has the best game deal of all, offering a bundle that includes Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield for $81 plus tax with promo code NOVSAVE19. This isn’t the official double pack, so you won’t get the bonuses that come with it. But you’re still getting both games for roughly $20 off a piece, and it comes with free shipping, too.
Nintendo has also launched its Black Friday Eshop sales for both America and Europe if you prefer to buy Switch games digitally. There’s a nice selection of games on sale, like Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition, Celeste, Cuphead, and Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch. The Eshop sale includes hundreds of games, so check our roundup for the absolute best deals on digital Switch titles right now.

The Nintendo Switch Online service is cheaper than most other gaming subscriptions, but that doesn’t mean you can find it for even cheaper. The service, which lets you play multiplayer Switch games online with others, is useful for some of the most popular games on the platform, including Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and Splatoon 2. You also get access to a ton of classic NES and SNES games for no additional charge for as long as you’re subscribed.
A Switch Online subscription normally runs you $20, but you can get it for $15 this Black Friday over at Target. There’s also a bundle with a game that absolutely needs it. Read on for a look at the best Switch Online deals.
The best (and only) Nintendo Switch Online subscription deal is at Target. You can buy a 12-month subscription for $15, five bucks off the list price. That’s a reasonably good deal considering the relative low cost of the service to begin with. You can stack up to three years of Switch Online, so you could save $15 overall if you buy three 12-month subscriptions.
Amazon and Best Buy have the Overwatch: Legendary Edition on sale for $25. Overwatch for Switch comes with a 3-month subscription of Switch Online.

Black Friday has a ton of deals going on for all kinds of gaming consoles, games, accessories, and more, and even recent games are seeing substantial markdowns for the weekend. The Outer Worlds is no exception, as there are currently a variety of ways to buy and play the game if you’re looking to save some cash on the Obsidian’s well-received spacefaring RPG, including a deal that lets you play it for just $1.
Yes, if you have an Xbox One or PC, the best Black Friday deal on the game is arguably through Game Pass, where it’s free to play. New subscribers can get a three-month Game Pass Ultimate membership–which includes Xbox Live Gold along with Game Pass for both console and PC–for just $1 as part of Microsoft’s Black Friday sale, and The Outer Worlds is part of the subscription’s collection. That should be more than enough time to play through the entire game. If you’re looking to add it to your library permanently, though, some stores have some nice discounts.
Right now, Target has the best deal The Outer Worlds on PS4. The retailer currently has it listed for $35 on their site, though supplies have been running out over the weekend. Otherwise, the best deals on The Outer Worlds are actually for the digital versions for consoles and PC (usually physical copies will get markdowns first). For PS4, your best bet is to grab it in PSN’s Black Friday sale for $45 and download directly from the PlayStation Store.
You can get a digital copy for cheap on Xbox One–Amazon has a digital code available for just $40, which beats out the Xbox Store price.
Finally, for PC, you have several good options. The Outer Worlds is $44.39 as part of Fanatical’s Black Friday sale, but by using our exclusive promo code GAMESPOT11 at checkout, you can get it for just $39.51, which is technically the lowest price currently available. However, the best overall deal may actually be at Green Man Gaming. If you purchase certain games during the Black Friday sale, like Red Dead Redemption 2 and The Outer Worlds, you’ll receive a code for the Intel Starter Pack, which lets you choose five free games from a selection of titles. You can find more info on that bonus at GMG.
Best deal: $35 (digital)
Best deal: $40 (digital)
Best deal: $40.49 (comes with five free games)

Black Friday is still going on over the weekend, so if you missed out on the shopping holiday, there’s still time to find a few great deals and get your holiday shopping done early. If not, you still have Cyber Monday to look forward to. Some of the best deals are already gone, but if you’re looking for a Switch Lite, PS4, or Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, there are some discounts you can still get in on, especially if you know when your local stores open and start offering those deals.
We’ve put together a quick guide to most of the major retailers’ store hours this weekend, so you can better plan your holiday shopping run for 2019. Please note that some stores haven’t released the exact time their deals will be live, only the date. We’ve included the information available below and will continue to update this story as more retailers announce their store hours and start times.
Most of Best Buy’s doorbuster deals are live now, and will be available until Sunday, though many are selling out quickly.
Best Buy store hours
At GameStop, online deals are live already. For brick-and-mortar GameStop stores, doors will open at 10 AM and 11 AM today and Sunday, respectively.
GameStop store hours
While Amazon has opened a small (but growing) number of brick-and-mortar stores across the US, the bulk of its Black Friday discounts will be available on Amazon.com. Because Amazon is primarily an online store, it’s not waiting until the end of the month to start offering its Black Friday deals. Instead, Amazon launched its Happy HoliDeals sale on November 1 with discounts across gaming, tech, entertainment, and other categories. And in the leadup to Black Friday 2019, deals will be available on Amazon at all hours, including a wide range of smart devices. Basically, Amazon will have deals going live all the time, so check back often.
Target’s online Black Friday sales are up as well. Brick-and-mortar stores open at 8 AM today.
Target store hours
Walmart’s full lineup of deals are available, though some of their best deals have sold out online. Check with your local store if a certain deal is sold out online.
Walmart store hours
Microsoft’s Black Friday deals are live now until December 2 (or while supplies last). In addition to Xbox deals, you’ll find some nice discounts on gaming laptops, monitors, headphones, and more during Black Friday.
While Amazon may be a go-to source for many people’s online shopping, Ebay has continued to surprise us with great gaming deals on a regular basis, especially when it comes to discounts on new games or subscription services like PS Plus. It also had some of the best deals around during Prime Day 2019, so be sure to keep your eye on Ebay during Black Friday this year.
Ebay is offering a series of “Black Friday Drops” every Friday leading up the major event. So far, they’ve offered nice discounts on expensive tech like the Apple Watch Series 5 and Bose SoundTouch 10 wireless speaker, and we even saw a great bundle with the Nintendo Switch Lite and Pokemon Sword and Shield. Each Black Friday Drop goes live at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET every Friday now through December 13.
For PC gamers, Steam’s Black Friday sale (or “Autumn Sale”) will be a huge opportunity to snag games on their wishlist at a discount. Some noteworthy sales include deals on newer games like Code Vein ($42, down from $60), Gears 5 ($30, down from $60), The Surge 2 ($30, down from $50), Void Bastards ($22.49, from $25), and plenty more.
Online store Newegg is another great source for tech and gaming deals year-round, and the website has been gearing up for Black Friday all month long. Newegg has opted to celebrate “Black November” rather than limiting its deals to Thanksgiving weekend, and you can already find great discounts on gaming laptops, desktops, graphics cards, and more.
If you have a Costco membership, there are plenty of Black Friday gaming deals awaiting you this year. However, Costco will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, so there’s no beating the Black Friday rush if you plan to shop in stores. If you prefer to shop online, deals are already available.
Kohl’s isn’t usually a store you think of for tech and gaming deals, but the brick-and-mortar retailer is stepping up its game with some solid deals this year, including a nice Nintendo Switch bundle. Plus, the store is offering $15 of Kohl’s Cash for every $50 you spend from until November 29–an excellent deal if you shop there regularly. On top of that, select products are eligible for an additional 15% off both in stores and online with promo code THANKS15.

As well as regular clothes, you can style it out in special Gym Outfit clothes – but there’s a catch.
Nintendo had a busy year, dropping a bunch of new entries in its fan-favorite franchises–including Pokemon Sword and Shield, Super Mario Maker 2, and Luigi’s Mansion 3. And while it’s not a sequel to Breath of the Wild or another mainline Zelda game, Nintendo also released The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, a remake of the classic Game Boy adventure game. With Black Friday 2019 finally upon us, we’ve rounded up all the available deals to help you get Link’s Awakening at its best price this holiday season.
What’s fascinating about Link’s Awakening on Switch is that it’s a full remake of the original, accurately recreating locations, dungeons, and boss battles with a new visual style. This game not only offers a nostalgic revisit for long-time fans, but it’s also a stellar way for recent newcomers to experience one of the series’ finest entries. The Zelda remake earned an impressive 8/10 in GameSpot’s Link’s Awakening review.
“If you haven’t touched a classic Zelda game in a while, Link’s Awakening will almost instantly transport you back to the ’90s,” wrote Peter Brown. “It’s simple, in many ways, but the orchestrated journey still conveys a sense of adventure, and this new version is without question the best way to experience it. And more than anything else, it will put a smile on your face. Remakes are a dime a dozen nowadays and often easy to overlook. Don’t make that mistake with Link’s Awakening.”
As a first-party Switch game that released just a few months ago, Link’s Awakening deals are still few and far between. That said, you can still find the game for little over $10 off its original launch price of $60. The best deal is currently at Ebay, where you can get a brand-new copy with free shipping for $47. You’ll find similar deals at Walmart and Rakuten.
To coincide with the release of Link’s Awakening on Switch, Nintendo also released a new Amiibo modeled after Link’s appearance in-game–and it’s downright adorable. This iteration of Link can be a bit hard to find online, but you can currently find it for $16 at GameStop. For comparison, it’s a whopping $31 at Amazon.
While North America saw the release of the Dreamer’s Edition of Link’s Awakening, international consumers were able to purchase a limited-edition bundle for the game. Featuring a steel case modeled after the original Game Boy along with a 120-page art book, this bundle is a bit flashier than the Dreamer’s Edition, and many fans were disappointed it never officially released in North America. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t import it. Currently, Amazon has the Limited Edition for sale for $133. While this is the international edition of the game, it’s region-free and will run on US Switch units.

Virtual reality can be an expensive investment, but with Black Friday happening right now, there’s no reason to drop full price on most PC VR headsets. And with the announcement of Half-Life: Alyx, Black Friday is a great time to jump into the VR space with a brand-spankin’ new headset. There are quite a few Black Friday deals on headsets compatible with Half-Life: Alyx–the Oculus Quest, HTC Vive Pro, Oculus Rift S, and HTC Cosmos–but there are also some fantastic Black Friday deals on the PlayStation VR. Half-Life: Alyx may not be announced for Sony’s headset, but it still has a huge library of incredible games.
In fact, there are some excellent Black Friday discounts for all manners of VR. Whether you’re looking for an Oculus Quest, an HTC Vive Pro, or something in between, you’re sure to find a deal on a great headset. The only device that hasn’t seen a discount is Valve’s Index, though Index owners will get Half-Life: Alyx for free once it releases. We don’t expect any discounts on the high-end headset for Black Friday, but of course, we’ll report back if anything is announced.
In addition to the headsets, there’s also a selection of game deals available this Black Friday. At the moment, we’ve only seen PlayStation VR games discounted, but you can expect Steam and Oculus to jump on the deal train soon–Steam’s Black Friday sale is expect to go live on November 26. We’ll update this article with all of the best Black Friday game deals once they’re announced.
Oculus’s Black Friday deals were announced last week, while Walmart’s Black Friday offerings and GameStop’s Black Friday sale both offer some excellent options for discounted VR.
Available now
Truly wireless VR is quite the experience, and for Black Friday, Oculus is giving away all three episodes of Vader Immortal, an interactive Star Wars experience, with all Quest purchases. You’ll need to activate your Oculus Quest within 30 days of purchase to claim the entire Star Wars series for yourself. The promotion lasts until January 31, though you have until March 2 to activate your Quest and redeem the offer. The Quest comes in 64 GB and 128 GB storage options.
One of the best features of the Quest is being able to plug it into your PC with a USB 3.0 cable and use it as a PC-powered headset via Oculus Link. This means you’ll be ready for Half-Life: Alyx once it releases in March 2020.
Available November 28 to December 2
The Oculus Rift S is the company’s PC-powered VR headset, which means you’ll need a PC with the hardware specs to run it and its software. However, everything you need to be ready for Half-Life: Alyx comes with your purchase, including the Touch controllers. Oculus is discounting the price to $350 for Black Friday.
Available from November 28 to December 1
GameStop has a number of VR deals, the first being the entire HTC Vive Pro starter kit for $800 during Black Friday. This is one of the best options for room-scale VR, especially at $300 off the regular price. It features a 2880×1660 resolution with 110 degrees for your field of view. It’s also ready to go for Half-Life: Alyx.
Available from November 28 to December 1
If you already have an HTC Vive, you can simply upgrade to the Vive Pro headset. GameStop has it on for $600 during Black Friday, and if you’re looking for an even better experience with Half-Life: Alyx, this is the way to go.
Available from November 28 to December 1
The HTC Vive Cosmos is HTC’s attempt at a headset with inside-out tracking–just like the Quest, you don’t need any sensors for it to work. However, you still need to power the Cosmos with a PC, so you won’t have a completely wireless experience. It’s ready for Half-Life: Alyx, and GameStop’s discounting it to $600 for Black Friday.
If you’re looking for more affordable VR, then Windows Mixed Reality headsets are worth taking a look at. The Samsung HMD Odyssey+ supports both Windows MR and Steam VR, so you’ll be able to play Half-Life: Alyx once it releases. The Microsoft Store has it discounted to $230 for Black Friday.
Available now
Unfortunately, Half-Life: Alyx has not been announced for PlayStation VR, but that doesn’t mean Sony’s headset isn’t worth buying. PlayStation VR features a lot of awesome exclusive VR games, including Astro Bot Rescue Mission, Everybody’s Golf VR, and Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. In fact, those three games are bundled with the PS VR Mega Pack, in addition to Skyrim VR and PlayStation VR Worlds. The bundle contains the headset, PlayStation Camera, and the five aforementioned games for only $200 this Black Friday.
Available now
This PlayStation VR bundle includes the PlayStation Move motion controllers, which will give you that extra level of immersion in compatible games. It also comes with crime-shooter Blood & Truth and Everybody’s Golf VR for $250 this Black Friday.
Available November 28 to December 2
The Oculus Go is a completely portable headset that excels in viewing media–watching movies and shows with Netflix VR, YouTube VR, and more. It’s a great gift for VR newcomers uninterested in hardcore gaming. This Black Friday, it’s going for $150 for the 32 GB version or $200 for the 64 GB version.
The PlayStation Direct store has some deals on PS VR games, though you do need to be subscribed to PlayStation Plus to get the deal price. Alternatively, the PlayStation Store has a few deals that don’t require PS Plus–some games may receive greater discounts for those with PS Plus subscriptions.

You don’t see big discounts for Nintendo games and consoles as often as you do for other games and consoles, but that’s why Black Friday can be crucial if you’re looking for Nintendo Switch deals. Nintendo’s official Black Friday page says to “check back soon for more deals,” you’re safe to ignore that, since we know everything the company has on sale. With that in mind, the console side of things is disappointing this year; the only official bundle comes with the older, less battery-efficient model and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, which is the same pack we got last year. We are seeing some neat Switch Lite deals, however, though most of them depend on the retailer and aren’t nationwide.
Things are more hopeful on the game discount–we’re seeing significant discounts across the board, and if you got in early you may have even gotten The Legend of the Zelda: Breath of the Wild for $30 (it’s sold out at the price now, however).
As expected, everything that’s already been announced has now been complemented by Nintendo’s Black Friday Eshop sale, which includes a huge number of digital Switch and 3DS games. This includes many of the platform’s biggest games from Nintendo and other publishers, as well as a ton of terrific indie games. You’ll find everything from Divinity: Original Sin II on Switch to Persona Q2 on 3DS on sale.
Prior to that, Nintendo’s Black Friday Eshop sale for Europe already went live and includes the expected discounts on a mix of first- and third-party games. Among them are Super Mario Odyssey, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Cadence of Hyrule, and Dragon Quest Builders 2, all of which will be 30% off.
Best Nintendo Switch Black Friday Deals
Microsoft, Best Buy, and Target have also revealed the sales they’ll have ready for Black Friday and Cyber Monday, so make sure to check those out if you’re shopping around.
In terms of Nintendo’s official lineup of deals, first up is an assortment of Nintendo Switch games. Normally sold for $60, the following games will be available for $40 (33% off) at Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, Target, and Walmart, though supplies have quickly proven to be limited. Make sure to check your local retailer. If you’re not in a hurry, you can browse their online pages and be more likely to find a great discount.
While Nintendo’s page says these games will be available for $40, Target’s Black Friday ad has The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Mario Tennis Aces, and Super Mario Odyssey for only $30 each as limited-time doorbuster deals. We’ve seen these listings pop up online, but they tend to sell out as soon as we see them, so your mileage will vary. Also, please note that more games may be on sale as well, but the Nintendo website only confirms the above titles. Finally, if you prefer to buy games digitally, the Nintendo Eshop’s deals has plenty of neat discounts, though none of them are selling marquee games for $30.
Nintendo Switch Joy-Con controllers are also getting a discount. Normally sold for $80 a pair, you can pick up a new pair of either gray or neon red and blue Joy-Cons for $60 (25% off). This offer will be available at Amazon, Best Buy, and Target.
For those who play Pokemon Go or the Pokemon: Let’s Go Switch games, the Poke Ball Plus is a handy accessory for storing and catching Pokemon. It also comes with Mew, a mythical Pokemon that you can transfer into Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu or Pokemon: Let’s Go, Eevee. Normally sold for $50, the Poke Ball Plus will be on sale for just $20 (60% off) at Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, Target, and Walmart.
Finally, if you were hoping for a price drop on the Nintendo Switch itself, you might be out of luck. Nintendo is offering the Switch bundled with a free digital copy of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for its full price of $300. If you have a good memory, you might recall this is the exact same bundle offered during Black Friday 2018. The difference this year, however, is that an upgraded Switch model with better battery life has since been released, but this particular bundle includes the original model without that improvement.
That said, if you’re interested in Mario Kart and don’t mind forgoing the extra battery life, this is still a solid deal. While not included in Nintendo’s Black Friday game deals, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe usually goes for around $50 on Amazon and elsewhere, so you’re saving a good wad of cash on this bundle. The console deal will be available at Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, Target, and Walmart, though it’s currently sold out at most outlets.
