The Elder Scrolls: Blades Switch Release Delayed, And Chest Timers Are Being Removed

The Elder Scrolls: Blades, which was announced for Switch during E3 2019, will not come to Nintendo’s console in 2019. Bethesda has announced that we’ll have to wait until early 2020 to start exploring Blades with Joy-Con in hand, but there’s good news too–a bevy of improvements have been made to the mobile version, and they’ll eventually make it into the Switch release too.

The big change is that chest timers are being removed in the upcoming update 1.5, which is due in early December. Once the update goes live, your chests will open right away rather than hitting you with a timer. This was a major complaint people had with the game, so it’s good to see it being removed. Loot drops are also being increased, meaning that enemies will grant you greater rewards when you kill them. There will be more loot-stuffed breakable objects too, so expect to do a lot of swiping at the screen.

PVP is also coming to the game, and will be available in the eventual Switch version. Any player above level 5 will be able to battle other players one-on-one, letting you win more loot and move up the leaderboards. Guilds will also be added in 1.5, and you’ll be able to visit your friend’s towns and purchase items from their merchants. All of these features will be cross-platform, so Switch players will be able to join mobile player’s guilds.

The Elder Scrolls: Blades released for mobile devices in April this year. Bethesda is currently looking to ramp up their mobile game production.

Black Friday 2019 Deals: CoD Modern Warfare, Diablo 3, And Overwatch On Sale

Right now, Blizzard Entertainment is jumping into the Black Friday 2019 fray with all sorts of deals on its most popular games lasting until December 2. In a blog post, the developer detailed in great length all the deals you can get online right now through the official site. As of this time, this sale focuses on its catalog of PC games on Battle.net, which includes Overwatch, Diablo III, and StarCraft 2, along with non-Blizzard games like Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and the more recent Modern Warfare.

In addition to deals on games, Blizzard also has a sale on its merchandise site, the Blizzard Gear Store. Right now, you can find Overwatch Funko figures and other Blizzard-themed shirts, beanies, and hoodies on sale. Along with the site-wide discount, you can also use the promo code EXPLORE, saving 25% off on purchases over $75. But of course, the real savings here are the variety of games in this Black Friday 2019 sale.

There’s a lot on display, so here’s a quick rundown of all the key games to find in this sale. On the official Blizzard site, you can find many more deals on other games including Hearthstone and Heroes of the Storm, and a discount on BlizzCon’s 2019 Virtual Ticket as well, which can net you bonus items for different Blizzard games.

Diablo 3 (PC) Deals

The legendary loot-driven action-RPG series is having a bit of a renaissance following the reveal of Diablo IV at BlizzCon 2019. With a lot more interest in the series now, Blizzard has given Diablo 3 on PC a significant discount. In addition to the base game and its Reaper of Souls expansion, you can also net the complete Diablo 3 experience on sale at a significantly lower price. The Battle Chest edition is the base game and the Reaper of Souls expansion, but if you want to own the complete Diablo 3 experience–including the Necromancer add-on and some bonus gear for your classes–then you’ll want to get the Eternal Collection.

Overwatch (PC, PS4, and Xbox One) Deals

Right now, you can play Overwatch for free on PC, PS4, and Xbox One until December 4. But if you want to keep playing for the long-term on PC and consoles, then check out Blizzard’s sale on both the standard and legendary editions of the game. While both versions feature the same content, the Legendary edition will net you additional credits to spend in-game, along with more cosmetics for the roster of heroes.

StarCraft Deals

The StarCraft series has been a significant force within the esports scene for much of its lifespan, and it’s still going strong to this day. While the base StarCraft II game has since become free-to-play, the campaign expansions are paid standalone releases, which you can now get at a substantial discount. But if you’re looking to take a trip back to the early days of StarCraft, then you can also check out the sale on the recent remaster of the original game, which includes the Cartooned content update, which replaces all the visuals with heavily stylized visuals.

World of Warcraft Deals

For those who have had their eye on World of Warcraft, the Complete Collection might be your best way into the online universe. On sale now, the Complete Collection packages everything together in one neat bundle. In addition to the base World of Warcraft and its previous expansions, the collection also includes the current Battle of Azeroth expansion and a pre-purchase of the recently revealed Shadowlands. All current subscribers also get access to WoW Classic, allowing them to relive the MMO’s early years.

Call Of Duty (PC) Deals

While Battle.net is mostly populated with Blizzard games, other Activision games have also made it into the digital marketplace, such as the Call of Duty series. During Blizzard’s Black Friday 2019 sale, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and Modern Warfare are discounted.

Facebook Buys Beat Saber Devs To Focus On Further VR Development

Beat Saber developer Beat Games is now a part of Facebook, and is joining Oculus Studios. They will remain independently operated, according to the announcement, and will continue to work on new content for Beat Saber, including an upcoming 360-degree level mode that will ship in December.

According to the announcement, Beat Saber has “only scratched the surface” of what the studio can do, and Facebook is “thrilled to join forces to see where this talented team takes VR gaming in the future.” It also states that this buyout will help Beat Games to develop more content for their game, and what Beat Saber will remain available on non-Oculus platforms as well.

A Q&A posted along with the announcement makes it clear that modding will still be possible, too, but developer mode “is not intended for engaging in piracy or illicit modding, including mods that infringe on third-party IP rights or contain malicious code.” Beat Games will remain in Prague as well, and will continue operating as it has to this point.

It’s been a big month for VR, with Half-Life: Alyx recently being announced as a PC VR exclusive. On the other hand, Phil Spencer has also made it clear that Xbox is not currently pursuing VR, as it represents a very thin slice of the market.

We gave Beat Saber an 8/10 in our review back in 2018. Reviewer Alessandro Barbosa wrote that the game is “an exhilarating rush and an exhausting game to play in the best way.” If you’d like to play it but haven’t made the jump to VR yet, check out all the best Black Friday VR Deals.

Best Nintendo Switch Black Friday Game Deals: Breath of the Wild, The Witcher 3, And More

Nintendo is well known for rarely ever letting its games go on sale as often as other publishers, so Black Friday can be a vital time for Nintendo fans who want to play the latest games for cheap. It’s no an easy road to walk, but the deals are here and they’re well worth pursuing. Now that nearly every Black Friday ad has either been released or leaked at this point–some sales are even live already–we know Black Friday 2019 will have a bunch of deals on Switch games and hardware. Some of the system’s best games are being discounted, and while outright price drops on Switch and Switch Lite Consoles are few and far between, you do have some options for bundles.

Where to find the best Nintendo Switch game deals

Nintendo has announced its own official Switch deals, which will be available at a variety of stores, though things can vary from one to another. This year, retailers like Amazon, Target, Best Buy, GameStop, and Walmart will have some of the most popular Switch games for 33% off, dropping the price on games like Mario Tennis Aces, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and Super Mario Odyssey from $60 to $40. The exception here is Walmart and Target, which will have those three games for $30 each.

Those five major retailers will likely account for the vast majority of deals on Switch games. That said, if you prefer to buy digitally, the Nintendo Eshop usually has its own sale on games, so you’ll want to check those out during Black Friday weekend too; so far, only Europe’s Eshop sale has been detailed, but we’re expecting North America to follow soon. At this time, nearly all major retailers have released their Black Friday ads, including Best Buy, Target, Walmart, GameStop, Kohl’s, Costco, and Office Depot.

Nintendo will also have game deals on the Eshop. So far, only UK Eshop deals have been revealed, but we will add notable games from the US sale to the list below when the North American Black Friday sale is unveiled.

Black Friday 2019 Pokemon Deals: Sword And Shield, Poke Ball Plus, And More

Thanksgiving is nearly here, and Black Friday and Cyber Monday 2019 are just around the corner. As usual, you’ll be able to find some great deals on video games, consoles, and accessories during the big shopping days, including Nintendo’s popular monster-catching franchise, Pokemon.

While the latest entries in the series, Pokemon Sword and Shield, may have only just launched on Nintendo Switch this month, you can already find the games for cheaper at Ebay with free shipping. That’s not the only worthwhile deal available through the digital store. If you’re interested in the new Pokemon games but don’t yet have a Switch, you can pick up a Nintendo Switch Lite in your choice of color along with a copy of Pokemon Sword for $230–$30 off of their usual combined price.

Some older Pokemon games are also on sale ahead of Black Friday. You can pick up last year’s Switch Pokemon titles, Let’s Go Pikachu and Let’s Go Eevee, for $43 each at Amazon, while Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon for 3DS are $23.09. And if you’re in the market for a Poke Ball Plus, the accessory will be on sale for only $20 at various retailers as part of Nintendo’s official Black Friday sale.

Those are just a few of the good Pokemon deals we’ve seen ahead of Black Friday 2019; we’ve rounded up even more below. We’ll update this list with any additional Pokemon deals we find, so check back often as we get closer to Black Friday. You can also see even more of this year’s best Black Friday deals across gaming, tech, and entertainment below.

Best Pokemon game deals

Pokemon Sword and Shield (Switch)

Pokemon Sword & Shield | $48 ($60)

The first Gen 8 Pokemon games take players to Galar, a picturesque region that’s home to a variety of new and familiar Pokemon to catch and raise. While the games don’t stray very far from the series’ established formula, Sword and Shield introduce a handful of new features to help keep the experience fresh, including the Wild Area, an open-world locale where some incredibly strong Pokemon roam about. There are also some new battle mechanics to master like Dynamaxing, which temporarily supersizes a Pokemon during battle.

Right now, the cheapest place to buy Pokemon Sword and Shield is at Ebay, where you can get a brand-new copy for $48 with free shipping as part of the site’s Black Friday sale.

Nintendo Switch Lite bundle with Pokemon Sword

Nintendo Switch Lite + Pokemon Sword Bundle | $230 ($260)

Nintendo’s portable-focused Switch Lite runs for $200 by itself, but you can get it along with a copy of Pokemon Sword right now for $230–a $30 savings. You don’t have to wait until Black Friday to take advantage of this deal, but you’ll want to act soon if you’re interested, as quantities are likely limited and probably won’t last long.

Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu (Switch)

Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu & Eevee | $43 ($60)

While Sword and Shield take place in an entirely new region, last year’s Pokemon games, Let’s Go, Pikachu and Let’s Go, Eevee, instead reimagine the classic Pokemon Yellow version. The titles take players back to Kanto, the setting of the original Pokemon games, where you’ll encounter the original 150 Pokemon and do battle against classic Gym Leaders like Brock and Misty. The games also take some influence from Pokemon Go, namely in terms of how you catch Pokemon; instead of battling wild monsters, you capture them by swinging your Joy-Con at the right time.

Pokemon Ultra Sun and Pokemon Ultra Moon (3DS)

Pokemon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon | $23.09 ($40)

The final mainline Pokemon games to hit the 3DS, Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon are at their core upgraded versions of 2016’s Sun and Moon versions. While the basic storyline generally remains the same, the Ultra games expand the narrative with a new subplot focusing on the Legendary Pokemon Necrozma. A new organization called the Ultra Recon Squad also figures into the story, and there are several new Ultra Beasts to catch as well. The games are already discounted at Amazon, but Best Buy will also have them on sale for $25 each during Black Friday.

Poke Ball Plus

Poke Ball Plus | $20 ($50)

Released alongside Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee, the Poke Ball Plus is a Poke Ball-shaped accessory that works much like a Joy-Con. The controller is also compatible with the newly released Pokemon Sword and Shield, and it lets you take one of your Pokemon out with you on a walk and earn rewards. On top of that, each Poke Ball Plus comes with Mew as an added bonus, making it the only way you can obtain the Mythical Pokemon in Let’s Go or Sword and Shield so far. The accessory normally runs for $50, but Best Buy, GameStop, Target and Amazon will all have it for only $20 during Black Friday.

Best Pokemon collectible deals

Pokemon Adventures manga set

Pokemon Adventures manga box set | $24.74 ($55)

The Pokemon Adventures manga has been around since the earliest days of the series, continuing to this day. This box set includes the first seven volumes of the series. Volumes 1-3 follow the story of Red as he journeys around Kanto on a quest to become Pokemon League Champion, while volumes 4-7 take place two years later and star a new protagonist, the titular Yellow and her Pikachu.

Black Friday 2019 Deals: Great Pokemon Sword And Shield Bundle And More At Ebay

Thanksgiving is just two days away, which means it’s beyond time to consider which Black Friday and Cyber Monday 2019 deals you want to take advantage of. A number of stores and online retailers have already announced what they’ll have on sale during the shopping holidays, and Ebay has its own share of great deals on games, consoles, and more.

Ebay’s Black Friday plans include a series of Black Friday “drops” every Friday at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET, from now through December 13. These include “a limited quantity of trending items,” such as the Nintendo Switch and Bose headphones. The retailer will also be offering major deals on its Brand Outlet page, which features items from major brands like Apple, Microsoft, Samsung, and Nintendo. This week’s drop was for an iPhone 11, but that one sold out fairly quickly.

One deal Nintendo fans should take note of: You can get last week’s drop, a Nintendo Switch Lite (turquoise) bundle with Pokemon Sword or Pokemon Shield, for $240. The Switch Lite normally sells for $200, and we don’t expect many discounts on it for Black Friday, so if you’re interested in both the console and the game, this is an excellent deal to jump on. One of the only others we’ve seen drops the Switch Lite to $175.

Ebay Black Friday 2019 deals come with free shipping and the store’s best price guarantee, which means you’ll receive 110% of the price difference on eligible deals and top products if you find the same item for less on a competitor’s website. The best price guarantee is available at Ebay year-round, but it’s sure to be particularly handy during Black Friday.

We’ll keep this article updated as more gaming, tech, and entertainment deals go live, but for now, check out an overview of the best deals available now below.

FIFA 20 Black Friday 2019 Deals

Black Friday 2019 looks to have tons of the year’s biggest games on sale, and FIFA 20 is definitely seeing its share of discounts. If you’re willing to wait less than a week to hop into the latest soccer sim from EA Sports, you can get it for more than 50% off on PS4 or Xbox One. During Black Friday, you’ll be able to grab a copy of EA’s soccer (or football, if you live outside the United States) game for just $27 at Walmart.

No Caption Provided

FIFA 20 — $27 ($60)

The sale price only applies to the PS4 and Xbox One versions of FIFA 20. We haven’t seen the Switch version, dubbed FIFA 20 Legacy Edition, in any Black Friday ad thus far. But to be perfectly honest, the Switch version of FIFA 20 is missing a bunch of features and should probably be avoided anyway. Walmart’s price will be available for online shoppers starting November 27 at 7 PM PT / 10 PM ET and in stores on Thanksgiving and Black Friday.

On the PC side, EA’s official Origin Black Friday sale has begun, and there you’ll find FIFA 20 for $30 (along with deals on a variety of other PC games, including some not published by EA).

You can check out additional offers on FIFA 20 if you’d prefer to shop elsewhere, and it’s always possible that Amazon will swoop in to price match the low prices. But don’t expect to find it any cheaper.

In our 8/10 FIFA 20 review, Oscar Dayus praised the improvements to Ultimate Team, marveled at the realistic graphics, and came away impressed with how the Volta street soccer mode added to the variety of the overall package.

Google Stadia Adds Two Extra Launch Titles To The Stadia Pro Range

Google Stadia has not been out long, but already extra games have been added to the $10 monthly Stadia Pro subscription that all owners of the Founder’s Edition have. From December 1, Google Stadia Pro will come with four games instead of the two it launched with–but it’s entirely possible that you’ve already bought the games that will be made available.

Google has announced that on December 1 at 9AM PST, Tomb Raider Definitive Edition and Farming Simulator 19 Platinum Edition will be added to Stadia Pro, joining Destiny 2 and Samurai Shodown. Google Stadia launched on November 19 in a few regions, and the Founder’s Edition came with a three month trial of Stadia Pro. Until very shortly before launch, the only game announced for the Pro subscription was Destiny 2, which is free-to-play on other systems.

Of course, these games have been available since launch, and some users have already purchased them. Tomb Raider is available for $10, meaning that quite a few early adopters looking to bulk out their library have likely bought it; Farming Simulator 19 Platinum Edition sets you back $50 before December 1. As one Twitter user noted, it’s possible to request a refund on your purchase.

The official refund policy for Google Stadia states that “you can request a refund within 14 days of your purchase if there is less than two hours of play time across all accounts.” Stadia released less than 14 days ago; it remains to be seen if there will be any leniency on the play time rule.

If you’re considering checking out Google Stadia, have a look at our review.
