Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order Is Selling Really Well

As Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order continues to win critics over with its excellent genre-blending, developer Respawn Entertainment and publisher Electronic Arts has announced that the third-person action-adventure title is doing well on the market. Jedi Fallen Order has become the fastest-selling digital launch for a Star Wars game in its first two weeks and EA’s top-selling PC Star Wars game in its initial launch window.

EA delivered the news in a press release, where the company said Jedi Fallen Order is “the highest-rated Star Wars game of this console generation.” For comparison, GameSpot sister site Metacritic says Star Wars Battlefront has a 73 average score, Star Wars Battlefront II is scored at about 66, and LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens hovers around 75. Jedi Fallen Order averages 81 on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

Respawn studio head Vince Zampella thanked everyone for their support and said Star Wars fans have a lot to look forward to. “Telling a story in the Star Wars galaxy is a dream come true and the reception from the fans has been incredible,” Zampella said in the press release. “With the launch of the game, the debut of The Mandalorian and the upcoming release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, it’s a great time to be a Star Wars fan!”

EA acquired the Star Wars license near the beginning of the decade, when the company and Disney signed a 10-year deal in 2013 for EA to develop games within the Star Wars universe. EA has only released a handful of Star Wars titles: 2011’s Star Wars: The Old Republic, 2015’s Star Wars Battlefront I and Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes, 2017’s Star Wars Battlefront II, and this year’s Jedi Fallen Order. While Battlefront I and II are both on PC via Origin and Steam, The Old Republic is the only PC-exclusive Star Wars title by EA and it holds an 85 Metacritic score.

In our Jedi Fallen Order review, we said, “But especially as it wears on, Fallen Order becomes perhaps the strongest conception of what playing as a Jedi Knight ought to really be like. Even with some rough edges, Fallen Order represents one of the most compelling game additions to the Star Wars franchise in years.”

With Black Friday steadily approaching, now’s a great time to pick up Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order. There are a plethora of discounts on the game right now, from straight game deals to console bundles from retailers Best Buy and Target.

Bungie Detailing Destiny 2’s Season Of The Dawn Next Week

Destiny 2‘s current content season, the Season of the Undying, is quickly drawing to a close. This week marks the final Iron Banner of Season 8, and there’s only two more weeks of Undying after that. And though we’re quickly barreling toward the conclusion of the Vex’s attack on the moon, we hadn’t heard anything about where Destiny 2 will be headed when its next season, the Season of the Dawn, kicks off in December–until now.

In an early This Week at Bungie blog post released ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday, Bungie finally made clear when Guardians will get some new details about what Dawn entails. The developer will drop info about the next season in a livestream set for 10 AM Pacific time on Wednesday, December 4.

When And Where To Watch Destiny 2 Season Of The Dawn Livestream

It’s somewhat atypical for Bungie to hold back info on its next season until so close to that season’s release, but it might speak to how things have changed in the third year of Destiny 2. The developer has made clear it intends to tell one long, overarching story with this year’s four seasons, starting with the events of the Shadowkeep expansion. Though we’ve apparently seen all the content Undying has to offer–last week saw the start of the Final Assault version of the Vex Offensive activity that has marked the season–it’s likely there’s a little more story coming that will lead from the end of Undying into the beginning of Dawn.

We’re also waiting to hear more about what the Season of the Dawn is all about. Bungie revealed a tiny tease in one of its Vidocs about Shadowkeep and the Season of the Undying when it showed a whiteboard on which developers were detailing the arcs of each of the upcoming seasons. Under the “Dawn” heading was one intriguing phrase: “Fix the timeline.” That suggests we’ll be seeing more to do with the Vex, Destiny’s time-traveling robot enemies, and we might even get a chance to revisit some past Destiny 2 events or story points when the next season rolls around.

We also know that the Season of the Dawn will be longer than the Season of the Undying, which was a bit truncated by the delayed release of Shadowkeep in October. Seasons usually run about three months, but Undying only lasted about two. The longer length of the rest of the three seasons this year may allow them to include more content, or at least, to stretch out content drops over a longer period.

There are a lot of unanswered questions about the Season of the Dawn, but hopefully Bungie plans to shed quite a bit of light on it come December 4.

Pokemon Go Adds New Legendary Pokemon Today

Pokemon Go‘s Supereffective Week is just about over, but Niantic still has a few other events lined up for the hit Pokemon mobile game this month. Before the first-ever Friend Fest kicks off tomorrow, November 27, a new Legendary Pokemon is making its debut in Raid Battles: Terrakion.

Like Cobalion, Terrakion is part of the Swords of Justice trio from the series’ Gen 5 games, Pokemon Black and White. The Legendary Pokemon will begin appearing in five-star Raids today at 1 PM PT / 4 PM ET, and it will be available until December 17. As usual, you’ll first need to team up with other players in-person to battle Terrakion before you can catch it.

Like the other Swords of Justice, Terrakion has two types, in this case Fighting and Rock. That makes it vulnerable to Grass, Ground, Water, Psychic, Steel, and other Fighting Pokemon, so you’ll want to bring along monsters of those types like Rhyperior, Gardevoir, and Machamp for your best chance to defeat it.

As previously mentioned, the Friend Fest also kicks off this week. That event runs until December 2, and during that time, “family-themed Pokemon” such as Nidoran and their evolutions will appear more often in the wild. Additionally, Pokemon trades will require half the usual amount of Stardust, and you’ll be able to make two special trades per day. You can read more details on the official Pokemon Go website.

Shortly after the Friend Fest wraps up, Niantic will hold Pokemon Go’s December Community Day. Like last year, the developer is doing something a little different for next month’s event. Rather than taking place on a single day, December’s Community Day will occur on two days–December 14 and 15–and will give you another chance to catch all of the featured Pokemon from previous Community Days.

Pokemon Global Link Shutting Down, Free Pokemon Being Distributed To Users

After nine years, the Pokemon Global Link is shutting down, The Pokemon Company has announced. Since the release of Pokemon Black and White on the original DS, the website has served as an online battling hub for the mainline Pokemon series, allowing players to join online competitions and view their rankings, but the latest entries, Pokemon Sword and Shield, have moved away from the service, making it no longer necessary.

In a statement on the Pokemon Global Link website, The Pokemon Company revealed the service will cease on February 24, 2020. After that point, players “will no longer be able to use any gameplay features that require a connection to the PGL” in either Pokemon Sun and Moon or Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. However, regular online features such as battling and trading will still be available in those titles.

Before the Pokemon Global Link shuts down, The Pokemon Company is giving away one final free Pokemon to Global Link users. From now until February 24, you can claim a free Fennel’s Munna in a Gen 7 3DS game. This Munna is modeled after the one owned by Fennel, the Dream World researcher from Pokemon Black and White.

To receive the Pokemon, log into the Pokemon Global Link and a personal notification about the gift will appear on the homepage. Click on the link within the notification to generate a download code. After that, you’ll need to go into Mystery Gift in your 3DS game of choice (either Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun, or Ultra Moon) and go through the following steps:

  • Select Receive Gift
  • Select Get with Code/Password
  • Follow prompts to connect online
  • Input download code
  • Open your save file
  • Retrieve the Pokemon from the deliveryman in any Pokemon Center

While the Pokemon Global Link may be shutting down, its functionality still lives on in Sword and Shield’s Battle Stadium, which lets players compete in ranked online competitions. The upcoming Pokemon Home service will feature some PGL functionality as well. That is slated to launch sometime in early 2020 and will also allow you to transfer Pokemon from 3DS to Switch.

Black Friday 2019 PC Deals: Sekiro For $36, Outer Worlds For $40, And More At Green Man Gaming

Just a week before Black Friday 2019 properly kicks off, Green Man Gaming has opened the floodgates early for some new deals on games like Borderlands 3, The Outer Worlds, and even Red Dead Redemption 2. As a part of its extended sale, the digital games retailer currently has well over 40 games up for sale right now, and on Tuesday, even more games were added, including Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, and Mortal Kombat 11.

This sale features some recent releases, along with other games that have come out in the last few years. In addition to the games mentioned above, GMG’s sale also includes Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Grand Theft Auto V, Tropico 6, and Civilization VI.

What’s special about GMG’s Black Friday sale is that certain purchases will also add in the Intel Starter Pack, allowing you to redeem an additional five free games from a select pool of titles. Some of these games include Resident Evil 7, Evil Within 2, Dishonored 2. The GMG sale also includes some great deals on gaming memberships and premium services. Any game purchased on Green Man Gaming can be redeemed on their respective digital distribution service. For instance, purchasing The Outer Worlds will give you a code that can be redeemed on the Epic Games Store, while Red Dead 2 will be playable on the Rockstar Games Launcher.

This sale doesn’t just focus on PC games, it also includes deals on gaming memberships to premium services. Notably, a 12-month PlayStation Plus membership is available for just $42.74, which is better than Sony’s official PS Plus offer for Black Friday ($45). So if you’re looking to top off your membership or try out a brand new service, then now is a pretty good time to dive in.

The biggest game on this sale is easily Red Dead Redemption 2, which recently came out on PC. GameSpot editor Michael Higham recently did a deep-dive into the PC version, and he was quite impressed with how it turned out. “Red Dead Redemption 2 is a case where its visual prowess is inseparable from its identity, which the PC version delivers on, given the right specs and the overcoming of technical issues,” he wrote.
