Hollow Knight Piano Collections Releases This Week, And You Can Sample Tracks Now

Hollow Knight‘s soundtrack is receiving a piano arrangement this week, with the release of Hollow Knight Piano Collections. Composer Christopher Larkin’s soundtrack has been arranged for piano by David Peacock and performed by Augustine Gonzales. The album will consist of 15 tracks taken from the hit game, and will be available digitally on November 28.

Hollow Knight Piano Collections is currently available for pre-order. It can be purchased as a digital album for $10, on CD for $19, or as a deluxe 2LP vinyl for $39. The sheet music is also available to purchase in physical form for $25, or digitally for $15. As well as Bandcamp, it will be available on Apple Music, iTunes, and Tidal. Two tracks are available to listen to right now for free–Hollow Knight, named after the game itself, and Greenpath. The art for the album is below.

We gave Hollow Knight a 9/10 in our review, and reviewer Alessandro Barbosa stated that the music tracks “breathe an immense amount of personality into each area with fitting backdrops.” Developers Team Cherry Games are currently working on a sequel, Hollow Knight: Silksong, which Larkin is also composing music for.

Google Stadia Games Are Not Running At 4K, But Google Says That’s On The Developers

Google Stadia is now in the hands of players, and some are reporting that it does not deliver on what was initially promised. The system, which launched with several features missing and which currently feels like a “costly curiosity,” has now been accused of not rendering games at the promised resolution. While Google has promised 4K resolution for all games, a report by Digital Foundry found that flagship launch title Red Dead Redemption 2 renders at 1080p or 1440p before being upscaled by the Chromecast Ultra. Destiny 2 also runs at 1080p, Eurogamer reports.

That same report from Eurogamer contains a statement from Google about what is happening here, and whether or not they feel that Stadia is achieving what the company promised it would. “Stadia streams at 4K and 60 FPS,” the statement reads. “That includes all aspects of our graphics pipeline from game to screen: GPU, encoder and Chromecast Ultra all outputting at 4K to 4K TVs, with the appropriate internet connection.”

“Developers making Stadia games work hard to deliver the best streaming experience for every game. Like you see on all platforms, this includes a variety of techniques to achieve the best overall quality. We give developers the freedom of how to achieve the best image quality and framerate on Stadia and we are impressed with what they have been able to achieve for day one.”

Google is essentially saying that it’s on developers if their game renders at a lower natural resolution. “We expect that many developers can, and in most cases will, continue to improve their games on Stadia,” the statement continues. “And because Stadia lives in our data centers, developers are able to innovate quickly while delivering even better experiences directly to you without the need for game patches or downloads.”

For now, it seems that the Stadia cannot match the performance offered by the PS4 Pro and the Xbox One X for every title currently available on the system. It was also promised that Stadia titles would deliever 60fps performance; according to users on Reddit, this has not been the case.

While several of the Stadia’s launch titles had their release dates pushed forward at the last minute, both Red Dead Redemption 2 and Destiny 2 were part of the originally announced launch line-up. The majority of Stadia games available now at ports (except for Gylt, the system’s one exclusive,) and they’re not cheap.

Marvel’s Avengers Team Knew That Winning Fans Over Would Be Hard

Marvel’s Avengers has had a rocky road since its initial reveal, in large part because fans of the comics and movies were not happy with how the characters looked when they were first shown off. Players took issue with the character models and the costume designs, and the team at developer Crystal Dynamics took note.

In a new interview with Gamesradar+, creative director Shaun Escayg has spoken about the challenge of showing off these character designs after the Marvel Cinematic Universe has established the current Marvel aesthetic so fully for most fans. “I mean, we knew we had that challenge, right?,” Escayg says. “We’re going up against a 10-year history of movies. And you know, people forget really quickly, but when the first movie came out, they had the same problem. People were upset with the way these heroes looked. So we knew going in that we would always have that struggle.” But he says that the focus was more on their “original storyline,” and making sure that they “stay true to that DNA of the characters in the comics.”

Studio head Scot Amos has previously talked to us about how the costumes have changed since the game’s initial reveal. The designs were noticeably different a few months after we first saw them, with designs that are a bit closer to what we’ve seen in the films. However, the main character of the game, Ms Marvel, has not made her way to the cinematic universe yet. That’s set to change when her Disney+ show launches next year.

There are some other interesting facts brought up across the interview. Escayg says that the appearance of next-gen consoles in 2020 was not of particular concern to how this game was made, and makes it clear that the game will not cross over with Insomniac’s Spider-Man, although there’s the possibility of bigger collaborations in the future. “Any collaboration with great studios excites everyone at Crystal [Dynamics]. How do we make this bigger? How do we make this much more engaging for the fans and continue to do so?”

Marvel’s Avengers will release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on May 15, 2020.

Borderlands 3 Pays Tribute To Destiny 2 With The Good Juju Rifle

Borderlands 3 continues the Borderlands tradition of having a lot of different guns for you to collect, and more have been added to the game since its release. In the latest update, which added the Takedown at the Maliwan Blacksite raid, a new burst rifle was also quietly slipped into the game. This new gun, Good Juju, will have extra meaning for players who have put a lot of time into Destiny 2–it’s a direct homage to the Legendary Bad Juju.

Users on the Destiny Reddit noted the distinct similarities between the two guns, from their designs (both feature organic elements around the barrel) to their perks, with both guns automatically refilling your magazine whenever they land a killshot. One fan has found a reliable way of farming the gun, but it involves taking down the Rampager in the Forgotten Basilico on Promethea, with the difficulty turned all the way up to Mayhem 4.

It’s not quite as complicated as Bad Juju was to unlock, but the Good Juju is not a guaranteed drop, so Destiny fans looking to handle a re-imagining of one of the game’s best guns might have to grind for it. Like the Bad Juju, its Borderland equivalent “kinda, sorta wants to end all existence,” according to the description the game offers.

Borderlands 3 has received a few updates throughout November, and recently increased the size of its bank. If you haven’t picked it up yet, check out our guide for Borderlands 3 Black Friday deals.

Black Friday Kohl’s Deals 2019: PS4, Xbox One, And Switch With Great Bonuses

You may not think of the Kohl’s as a gaming or tech store, but the retailer has a number of pretty good Black Friday deals deals that include games, consoles, and other fun tech and accessories. PlayStation 4 Slim 1TB Fortnite Neo Versa Bundle with $60 Kohl’s Cash — $200 ($300)

This 1TB PS4 Slim normally goes for $300, but Kohl’s will have it for $200. That’s a $100 discount! It comes with exclusive Fortnite content, including the Neo Versa outfit, Neo Phrenzy Back Bling, and 2,000 V-Bucks. Though this isn’t the holiday bundle that appears to include God of War, Marvel’s Spider-Man, and Horizon Zero Dawn: Complete Edition for the same, the $60 in Kohl’s cash makes it worth a look, especially if you plan on shopping at Kohl’s more throughout the holiday season. Holiday shoppers shouldn’t pass this one up.

Xbox One S 1TB Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order Bundle with $60 Kohl’s Cash – $200

Xbox One S 1TB Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order Bundle with $60 Kohl’s Cash — $200 ($300)

Like the PS4 deal, shoppers can get $60 Kohl’s Cash with their purchase to spend at a later date in-store. Fallen Order releases November 15 and will almost assuredly be one of the most desired gaming gifts this Christmas.

Nintendo Switch with carrying case and charging dock with $90 Kohl’s Cash – $320

Nintendo Switch with carrying case and charging dock with $90 Kohl’s Cash — $320 ($345)

The Nintendo Switch probably won’t get discounted very much this holiday season. Instead, you’re more likely to see bundles such as this one. For $320, you can get the Nintendo Switch, the Game Traveler Deluxe Travel Case ($20 value), and what appears to be the PowerA Joy-Con Charging Dock ($25). Kohl’s doesn’t currently have either the case or charging dock on its website, but based on the small ad images, it appears you’ll save $25 overall. On top of that, you’ll get $90 Kohl’s Cash.

PlayStation VR Astro Bot and Moss Bundle with $60 Kohl’s Cash – $200

PlayStation VR Astro Bot and Moss Bundle with $60 Kohl’s Cash — $200 ($300)

This stellar PSVR bundle was a hot Black Friday item last year. It’s returning this year for the same $200 price, which is a great deal. Astro Bot: Rescue Mission and Moss are two of the best platformers on Sony’s VR headset, so any PS4 owners thinking about taking the plunge into VR should think about scooping up this bundle at Kohl’s that comes with $60 Kohl’s Cash.

Arcade 1Up Pac-Man Countertop Arcade Machine with $45 Kohl’s Cash – $150

Arcade 1Up Pac-Man Countertop Arcade Machine with $45 Kohl’s Cash — $150 ($200)

For countertops that are a tad barren, the Arcade 1Up Pac-Man arcade machine can give that space some much needed style. Arcade1Up is one of the most popular manufacturers of personal arcade machines, and this one is a beauty. It’ll be discounted to $150 and comes with $45 Kohl’s Cash.

PlayStation 4 DualShock 4 Wireless Controller – $40

PlayStation 4 DualShock 4 Wireless Controller — $40 ($60)

This appears to only be available in black, as Kohl’s only has the black DualShock 4 normally listed for $60. Nonetheless, it’s always great to get $20 off of a pricey controller.

Xbox One Wireless Controller – $40

Xbox One Wireless Controller — $40 ($60)

Available in either white or black, you can also save $20 on Xbox One controllers. While it’s not eligible for Kohl’s Cash when you just buy one, remember that for every $50 you spend, you get $15 in Kohl’s Cash.

Fitbit Charge 3 or Fitbit Versa Lite Edition with $30 Kohl’s Cash – $100

Fitbit Charge 3 or Fitbit Versa Lite Edition with $30 Kohl’s Cash — $100 ($150)

A pair of great fitness-focused smartwatches will be available on sale for $50 off each at Kohl’s. The Fitbit Charge 3 is a slim fitness band that hones in on comfort rather than features. The Versa Lite is a more traditional smartwatch with a larger display and more apps. Both of these Fitbit watches come with $30 Kohl’s Cash.

Canon EOS Rebel T6 DSLR Camera Bundle – $400

Canon EOS Rebel T6 DSLR Camera Bundle — $400 ($750)

We’ve rounded up a selection of deals below, and we’ve also put together a more extensive look at the best Xbox Live game deals for Xbox One owners. While the majority of what you’ll find are Xbox One games, there are also a bunch of high-quality backwards-compatible games for Xbox 360 and the original Xbox that you can play on One, including earlier entries in the Splinter Cell series.
