Black Friday 2019’s Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order Deals, Xbox One Bundles

It’s a great time to be a Star Wars fan with the ongoing series The Mandalorian on Disney Plus and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker nearing release. But this month has also brought with it Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order, a new action game from Titanfall and Apex Legends developer Respawn Entertainment. Given just how recently it came out–it hit PS4, Xbox One, and PC on November 15–Black Friday deals aren’t exactly abundant unless you’re looking to purchase a console bundle. That said, we may see more discounts on Black Friday and Cyber Monday themselves, so if a bundle isn’t tempting and you’re strapped for cash, it might be best to hold off for now. We’ve seen unadvertised deals on recent games pop up in past years.

Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order is one of our top 2019 holiday gift recommendations; it also earned an 8/10 in our Jedi Fallen Order review. “Fallen Order becomes perhaps the strongest conception of what playing as a Jedi Knight ought to really be like,” wrote Phil Hornshaw. “It’s true that Fallen Order borrows liberally from other action games, but those elements work together with Respawn’s combat and environment design, and a story that finds humanity in the Force and in its characters, to hone in on what makes the world of Star Wars worthy of revisiting again and again. Even with some rough edges, Fallen Order represents one of the most compelling game additions to the Star Wars franchise in years.”

Read on for the best Black Friday deals on Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order announced so far.

Rockstar Has More GTA 5 Online Content Planned

While publisher Rockstar Games is busy ironing out issues affecting Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC, the company has confirmed that it’s not done with its other flagship title, 2013’s Grand Theft Auto V. GTA Online will continue to receive more content, according to developer Rockstar North.

Rockstar North’s co-studio head, Rob Nelson, told PCGamer that more GTA Online content is on the way. “Players should feel confident that we have a ton of brand new ideas still to come,” Nelson said. “It’s been six years and we just hit record player numbers and we are all incredibly grateful to everyone who’s been with us along the way.”

Nelson didn’t detail any specific plans for GTA Online’s next DLC. However, he said that flexibility keeps the team vigilant and on their toes. “We try to keep plans going roughly a year out, but we want to have the flexibility to be responsive to any changes.”

Back in October, Rockstar released a new batch of content for GTA Online. The update included new cars and game modes, among other things. Additionally, the update also allowed players of both GTA Online and Red Dead 2 Online to earn Halloween-themed masks.

Rockstar North recently started hiring for a brand-new project. According to a job listing, the studio is looking for a programmer to assist in building a next-gen open-world character-driven game.

Call Of Duty: Mobile Brings Back Controller Support–With Some Changes

Call of Duty: Mobile launched with controller support, but it was hastily pulled from the game. At the time, Activision mobile VP Chris Plummer said it would continue to be tested with a select portion of players, and now the feature has returned. In an update, the company explained how the feature now works.

Right now the game only supports official PS4 DualShock 4 (except first-generation) and Xbox One controllers. It warns that using non-supported controllers could impact functionality, but further updates may add more controller support. Controllers only work during a match, so you need to use the native touch controls to navigate menus. You can modify your settings in the “Controller” section of the settings menu, which had previously been replaced with an “Other” section when the feature was yanked from the game.

You’ll be matched up against other players using controllers, and touch users will be matched with other touch users. Plummer had previously indicated that if controller support came back, it would keep players separated this way in the interest of fairness and game balance.

Though the controller support is welcome for many players, GameSpot’s CoD Mobile eview found the touch controls surprisingly intuitive and easy to use, without compromising the skill required for competitive play.

“Beyond its messy microtransaction menus and the slight time-saving purchases, there’s not much else in Call of Duty Mobile that detracts from its faithful recreation of the exhilarating and fast-paced multiplayer action of the core series,” Alessandro Barbosa wrote. “It’s flexible and easy-to-use control scheme mitigates the lack of controller support, and its celebration of the best modes and maps the Black Ops and Modern Warfare series have produced makes it a pleasure to line up game after game.”

The update also packed another surprise for fans: a limited-time Zombies mode.

Call Of Duty Mobile Adds Zombies For A Limited Time

Activision’s on the go Call of Duty experience, Call of Duty Mobile, has a brand-new limited-time mode. The beloved Zombies mode from the franchise’s past is now available to play on Android and iOS.

The publisher outlined the features included in Call of Duty Mobile Zombies. This limited-time experience takes you to Shi No Numa, a bite-sized version of a classic Zombies map found in 2008’s Call of Duty: World at War. You must reach player level five to unlock Zombies.

Gallery image 1Gallery image 2Gallery image 3

There are two ways to play Zombies in Call of Duty Mobile: Raid and Survival. Survival is an endless horde mode reminiscent of a traditional Zombies experience. Raid is a new game type for Call of Duty Zombies, where you face a boss at the end of a set number of waves. Both modes can be played in Hardcore, with the increased difficulty yielding new rewards and challenges. Further, Raid comes with two difficulty settings, Normal and Heroic, that change the number of rounds and buff the final boss.

Zombies in Call of Duty Mobile is a familiar experience for those who’ve played Zombies in past Call of Duty titles. You start with a knife and pistol, earn points by killing zombies and boarding up windows, purchase weapons, ammo, Perk-a-Colas and coins, and repeat until you either survive or fall to the zombie horde. New to the formula are buffs, “upgradeable benefits” that do anything from increasing your damage to speeding up your reload time.

Completing rounds in Raid and Survival nets you rewards as well. You are rewarded at the end of every game for surviving three full rounds, with up to five earned per session. Call of Duty Mobile Zombies is playable with up to three of your friends in online cooperative.

Call of Duty Mobile has had the biggest mobile game launch in history, with over 100 million people downloading the game within its first week. The game doesn’t look to be slowing down either, as its continued downloads now place it behind Pokemon Go. We awarded the title an 8/10 in our Call of Duty Mobile review, saying, “Its flexible and easy-to-use control scheme mitigates the lack of controller support, and its celebration of the best modes and maps the Black Ops and Modern Warfare series have produced makes it a pleasure to line up game after game.”

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Screens Show Weapon Customization, Moogles, Darts

Sony has shared a bundle of new screens and details on the Final Fantasy VII Remake, ranging from weapon customization to mini-games. Plus, Square Enix revealed that the second part of the game is already in development.

Most of the new revelations came from the PlayStation Blog. The screens show off weapon abilities and customization, using Cloud’s iconic Buster Sword as an example. Each weapon has its own unique weapon ability, which you gain proficiency in the more you use it. Once you’ve maxed out the proficiency rating, the character learns that ability permanently. Another screen shows the Buster Sword upgrade screen, letting you unlock new abilities or increase its number of Materia slots.

The other new screens show the Chocobo & Moogle summon, with the teddy bear-like character riding on the back of the giant birds, and Cloud taking on a game of darts in Seventh Heaven. Plus we get lots of new looks at the characters and environments of Midgar.

In addition, director Tetsuya Nomura stated on the official site that the next part is underway. “We’ve already begun working on the next one as well, but I’m confident that playing through this title will expand your expectations just like the world that extends beyond Midgar,” he said.

As an example of expanding Midgar, he mentioned the subject of bosses. He’d previously said that Midgar wouldn’t be adding any new characters, but it is adding additional bosses, and implied the Midgar section will end with a different boss than the original.

“When you think of Midgar’s final boss, you probably think of the M.O.T.O.R., but in this game new bosses will appear and add to the excitement of the story even more.”

Final Fantasy VII Remake is coming March 3, 2020. For more details check out our preorder guide.

Red Dead 2 Black Friday Deals: PC Version On Sale For $44, Includes Free Games

Red Dead Redemption 2 has finally come to PC and just in time, too–it’s Black Friday season, and thanks to a bunch of sales, you’ll be able to pay less than the standard retail price of $60 for it. In fact, Black Friday is much more than a day of sales; for some retailers, it’s an event that lasts a week or more, and it’s already started.

It’s not just the PC version of RDR2 that’s on sale, either. The game’s renewed popularity now that it’s in the hands of PC players means the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game are seeing renewed interest, with sale prices to match. In some cases those prices extend beyond just the standard version of the game to encompass its Special Edition and Ultimate Edition, both of which feature extra missions and other digital goodies. In addition to Black Friday prices, there are some regular discounts floating around at current retailers, with better prices coming later this week.

Red Dead Redemption 2 PS4 and Xbox One deals

Best deal: $25

No Caption Provided

While the PC version has quite a few features that aren’t available on consoles–like increased frame rates and resolutions–the PS4 and Xbox One versions are still fantastic games. The game even won GameSpot’s 2018 Game of the Year based on those versions. Best Buy will have the PS4 version and, while not directly confirmed by its ad, most likely the Xbox One version as well for just $25 during Black Friday, starting on November 27. This is the lowest price we’ve seen so far.

If Red Dead Redemption 2 sells out at that price at Best Buy, you’ll find it for $30 elsewhere during Black Friday, which is still a great price for this critically acclaimed game.

That’s pretty much what you can expect in terms of discounts on Red Dead Redemption 2 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One during Black Friday 2019. Black Friday 2019 Deals: Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare Is $38 At Walmart

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is one of the hottest games of the year, which will make it one of the go-to gifts of the holiday season. Black Friday 2019 is next week, but we’ve already seen some big discounts on Infinity Ward’s latest take on the long-running first-person shooter series. We’ve rounded up the best Black Friday deals we’ve seen so far, and will update this list if we see any other deals pop up over the course of the holiday season.

So far, the best deal for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare comes from Walmart and GameStop, which have the game for only $38–a great price for such a new CoD game, given that games in the series often maintain their MSRP for a long time. Walmart’s deal is live now as part of its early Black Friday deals. You also get three hours of double XP when buying Modern Warfare at Walmart. GameStop’s matching price won’t be available until Thanksgiving Day.

Modern Warfare received a score of 7/10 in our Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare review. GameSpot’s Kallie Plagge was disappointed by its lackluster Spec Ops mode but still enjoyed Modern Warfare’s exciting campaign and new multiplayer modes, including the 2v2 Gunfight mode.

“The pitfalls of Spec Ops don’t detract from what Modern Warfare does well, though,” she wrote. “Realism mode is an excellent addition to the slate, and although not all the new multiplayer modes are great, Gunfight and the Night Vision playlist are refreshing standouts. And while the campaign ends up playing it safe in the end, it’s still a memorable one, and it lays a strong foundation for where the Modern Warfare series could go from here.”

Black Friday Flash Deal: Death Stranding PS4 Pro Back In Stock For Just $300

Death Stranding is a relatively recent release, but you can already save big on the ambitious game from Hideo Kojima if you’re looking to buy or upgrade to a PS4 Pro. GameStop is offering the PS4 Pro Limited Edition bundle for $300, down from $400. This appears to be a price-match of other retailers deals, and those have been selling out fast.

The bundle includes a Limited Edition console with the special PS4 paintjob and translucent controller, along with a copy of the game. The console is a 1TB PS4 Pro, so it’s the high-end version of the system.

Death Stranding Limited-Edition PS4 Pro | $300 ($400)

Death Stranding was Kojima’s first new game after leaving Konami, and as a result expectations were high. The results reception was mixed but critics agreed it was ambitious and experimental, which may make it worth experiencing for yourself. GameSpot’s review awarded it a 9/10.

“Death Stranding is a hard game to absorb. There are many intertwining threads to its plot, and silly names, corny moments, and heavy exposition belie an otherwise very simple message,” Kallie Plagge wrote. “That comes through much more clearly in the game’s more mundane moments, when you find a desperately-needed ladder left behind by another player or receive a letter from an NPC thanking you for your efforts. It’s positive without ignoring pain; in fact, it argues in both its story and its gameplay that adversity itself is what makes things worth doing and life worth living. It’s a game that requires patience, compassion, and love, and it’s also one we really need right now.”
