Pokemon Sword & Shield’s Eevee: How To Get Every Evolution

Pokemon Sword and Shield introduce a variety of new Gen 8 Pokemon to the series, and much like previous games, many of these monsters can only evolve using specific methods. However, the Switch games also feature a couple of new ways to evolve old Pokemon–specifically Eevee, which you can catch fairly early on in your adventure at Route 4.

In past Pokemon titles, you could only obtain Glaceon or Leafeon by traveling to a specific location and leveling your Eevee up, but Sword and Shield have simplified this process by letting you evolve it using elemental stones. That isn’t the only way you can obtain Eevee evolutions in the new Pokemon games, either. Below we’ve rounded up all the ways you can get Eevee evolutions in Pokemon Sword and Shield.

How To Evolve Eevee

As previously mentioned, the only way you could evolve Eevee into Glaceon or Leafeon in previous Pokemon games was by traveling to the Ice or Moss Rock and leveling the Pokemon up. Neither rock appears in Pokemon Sword and Shield, so Game Freak has changed the way to obtain these evolutions. Now, you can evolve Eevee into Glaceon or Leafeon simply by using the Ice Stone or Leaf Stone on it.

These are the only two Eevee evolution methods that have been changed in Sword and Shield; you can still obtain the other evolutions the same way as in past games. That means if you want to evolve Eevee into Sylveon, you need to play with it often while camping out to increase its affection toward you. If you need a refresher on how to evolve Eevee into its other forms, we’ve outlined all the Eevee evolution methods below.

Eevee EvolutionHow To Evolve
VaporeonWater Stone
JolteonThunder Stone
FlareonFire Stone
EspeonLevel up during day when Friendship is high
UmbreonLevel up during night when Friendship is high
GlaceonIce Stone
LeafeonLeaf Stone
SylveonLevel up when Affection is high and it knows a Fairy-type move

Other Ways To Obtain Eevee Evolutions

In addition to catching an Eevee and evolving it yourself, you can also capture Eevee evolutions in the Wild Area, specifically at the Lake of Outrage. Eevee evolutions will reliably spawn in the area, although which one you encounter will depend on the weather. You can see the Eevee evolutions we’ve encountered at the Lake of Outrage and what weather conditions they appeared in below.

Wild Eevee EvolutionWeather It Appears In
VaporeonRain
JolteonThunderstorm
FlareonHarsh sunlight
EspeonFog
UmbreonSandstorm
GlaceonSnow, blizzard
LeafeonClear
SylveonCloudy

Black Friday 2019: The Best Madden NFL 20 Deals

The Black Friday 2019 deals have been coming in by the truckload, and that means we have a great idea of what will be on sale and how big the Black Friday discounts will be, especially for this year’s biggest games. As for Madden NFL 20, there are quite a few retailers offering deals on this year’s football game. The best deal for Madden NFL 20 comes from Walmart at only $27.

Walmart’s Black Friday sale kicks off on November 27 and includes many other games, in addition to Madden. Most of their prices edge out Best Buy and Target, though there are a few that are cheaper at other retailers. We’ll be sure to keep you up to date on the lowest prices right here on GameSpot.

Madden NFL 20 | $27 ($60)

EA’s latest football game received a score of 8/10 in our Madden NFL 20 review. GameSpot’s Eddie Makuch praised its new X-Factor abilities, week-to-week challenges, and on-the-sticks gameplay, the latter of which he says is “the best it’s ever been.” However, the story elements of the QB1 mode and the minimal changes to Franchise mode left him wanting.

“Madden NFL 20 is an improved version of the annualized professional football series that excels in some areas and leaves something to be desired in others,” he wrote. “The new QB1 career mode–which includes a barebones NCAA football experience–overall feels like a half-baked idea that doesn’t deliver anything meaningful or interesting. When it comes to the on-the-field action, however, the new X-Factor and Superstar abilities shake up the familiar gameplay formula to give seasoned players and newcomers alike a fresh way to scheme plays and orchestrate strategy on both sides of the ball.”

Where’s GameSpot’s Shenmue 3 Review?

Shenmue 3 is out today after a Kickstarter campaign and a bit of a wait, but you might not be seeing many, if any, reviews for it yet. This is simply because press didn’t have access to Shenmue 3 until very recently, and it’s a decently long game from what we can tell–these things take time! We have the game now and a review is in the works, so stay tuned.

It has been 18 years since the last game in the series, Shenmue 2, which debuted on the Dreamcast in 2001. Now, Shenmue 3 is on PS4 and on PC as an Epic Games Store exclusive. Its recent launch trailer includes some story details if you’re looking for more information while waiting for reviews to come out; it features series protagonist Ryo Hazuki as well as Ling Shenhua, plus series antagonist Lan Di, who was responsible for the death of Ryo’s father in the original game. It also directly addresses the long wait between games. Opening text reads: “18 years ago the clock stopped. Time vanished into an unfathomable future. But passions never waver. A moment in motion, a story renewed.”

Shenmue 3’s Epic exclusivity stirred up a bit of a controversy, however. In response, Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney confirmed that the company would be providing refunds for Kickstarter backers who were upset by the deal. In a tweet, he wrote, “Epic is funding the cost of all Kickstarter refunds resulting from Shenmue III’s move to the Epic Games store.” The refund opportunity was limited-time only, though, and has since concluded.

If you instead want to catch up on the series before checking out Shenmue 3, a remaster of Shenmue 1 & 2 was released last year. In our impressions of the HD versions, Justin Clark wrote: “Shenmue is so broken and creaky in so many ways, and yet it’s a game dependent on the calm of passing time, and reminding its protagonist (and you) of all things good in the face of life’s hard and harsh moments.”

Black Friday 2019: Best PS4 Console and Accessory Deals We’ve Seen

Black Friday and Cyber Monday are some of the best times to go console-shopping for a new PlayStation 4, and Black Friday 2019 will be no different. Sony has a new holiday bundle to tempt you if you haven’t bought a PS4 yet (or are looking to get another one), and this one comes with some of the console’s best exclusives to date. You can also get some great savings on a PSVR headset with a couple of nice bundles. A growing number of retailers, including Target, Best Buy, and Walmart have already released their Black Friday ads, so let’s take a look at the best PS4 console and accessory deals retailers will have available when the holiday hits.

Though the PS4 Pro hasn’t been featured in any retailer ads so far, Sony announced that the more powerful PS4 will be on sale for $300 at participating retailers, which probably includes Walmart, Amazon, GameStop, and others.

Best Black Friday PS4 console deals

PS4 Slim (1TB) with God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn: Complete Edition, and The Last of Us Remastered | $200 ($300)

The 2019 PS4 Slim holiday bundle features God of War, The Last of Us Remastered, and Horizon Zero Dawn: Complete Edition. That’s quite the haul of PlayStation exclusives. At $200, this is likely the best PS4 deal you’ll find this Black Friday. So far, we know it will be available at Walmart, Target, Best Buy, and Belk. Look for it to be available at other retailers, too.

No Caption Provided

PS4 Slim (1TB) Fortnite Neo Versa Bundle with $60 Kohl’s Cash | $200 ($300)

Make no mistake, the holiday bundle is definitely better than this one. But it’s also a safe bet that the holiday bundle will sell out quickly at a lot of retailers. Kohl’s has the Neo Versa bundle, which includes a few pieces of Fortnite DLC, for $200 as well. You’ll also get $60 Kohl’s Cash to sweeten the pot.

No Caption Provided

PS4 Pro (1TB) | $300 ($400)

The PS4 Pro will be $100 off at participating retailers from November 24 to December 2. That means if you’re looking to pick up the more powerful PS4, you can do so at a discount before Black Friday even begins. Retailers participating in the promotion haven’t been revealed, but we imagine most, if not all, of the major retailers will have this offer.

Best Black Friday PSVR deals

PlayStation VR Mega Pack bundle with camera and five games | $200 ($300)

Talk about an awesome deal. For just $200, you get the PSVR headset, the PlayStation Camera, and five great VR games: Astro Bot: Rescue Mission, Everybody’s Golf VR, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR, Resident Evil 7 (playable in and out of VR), and PlayStation VR Worlds. Best Buy and Target will for sure have this bundle on Black Friday, but other retailers probably will, too.

No Caption Provided

PSVR with camera, two Move controllers, and Everybody’s Golf/Blood & Truth | $250 ($300)

While the Mega Pack is the best bundle when it comes to games, this PSVR bundle includes two PlayStation Move motion controllers, the PlayStation Camera, and two games: Everybody’s Golf VR and the well-realized cinematic shooter Blood & Truth. It’s also an excellent deal at $250.

No Caption Provided

PSVR with camera and Trover Saves the Universe/Five Night at Freddy’s | $200 ($300)

If the other two PSVR bundles sell out, this is your next best bet. For $200, you get the headset, PlayStation Camera, and a pair of games: Trover Saves the Universe and Five Night at Freddy’s VR: Help Wanted.

PlayStation VR Astro Bot and Moss Bundle with $60 Kohl’s Cash | $200 ($300)

This PSVR bundle could be viewed as a second option for some; for others, it may be the best available. The Astro Bot/Moss PSVR bundle was available on Black Friday last year. This year, Kohl’s will have it for $200, and you’ll also get $60 Kohl’s Cash.

Nintendo Switch Black Friday 2019 Deals: Best Sales On Consoles And Accessories

The Nintendo Switch is still a hot item going into Black Friday 2019. Even without a Zelda, Mario, or Super Smash Bros. game to lead the way the console has had a great year, with strong first-party games like Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Astral Chain, Luigi’s Mansion 3, and Pokemon Sword and Shield offering something for just about anyone, and the Switch Lite re-igniting interested in the console as a portable (and possibly tempting people to pick up a second one). Whether you’re looking for a deal on a Switch console or just hunting around for some Switch accessory deals, we’ve got you covered. We’ve rounded out the best Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals right here, with more info to come as stores announce all of their deals for the season.

Let’s break the disappointing news right out of the gate. Judging by the Black Friday ads we’ve seen so far, the Nintendo Switch won’t be getting a nice discount or even a particularly amazing bundle this holiday season. Instead, Nintendo has provided retailers with the same Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Switch bundle from last Black Friday. And yes, it still includes the launch model Switch, not the updated Switch with better battery life that hit stores a few months back. While the Switch Lite is prominently featured in ads, so far it’s just that: an ad for the $200 handheld-only Switch, with no discount to speak of.

That doesn’t mean there won’t be great deals on Switch accessories, though. In fact, we’ve already seen countless accessories featured in the various Black Friday ads that Best Buy, Target, and Walmart have dropped, you can expect even more accessory deals as retailers like Amazon and GameStop release their Black Friday ads.

Best Black Friday Nintendo Switch console deals

Nintendo Switch with free digital copy of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and screen protector | $300

This Switch bundle was offered in 2018, and on the surface, it’s a pretty good deal. You get the Switch and an awesome game that regularly goes for around $50 these days. However, please note this isn’t the updated Switch with better battery life; it’s the launch model. If you love Mario Kart and aren’t concerned about the longer battery life, this is a solid offer; otherwise, you may be better off just buying the newer model for the same price and waiting for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe to go on sale. We’re highlighting Best Buy’s bundle here because the retailer is throwing in a screen protector, but expect this bundle to be available at most major retailers as it’s an official Nintendo offer. Perhaps one smart retailer will throw in more than just a screen protector.

No Caption Provided

Nintendo Switch (new model) with carrying case and charging dock with $90 Kohl’s Cash | $320 ($345)

If you’re not eager to grab Nintendo’s official bundle, we know Kohl’s will have its own bundle that does, in fact, feature the updated Switch with better battery life. For $320, you’ll get the Switch, a carrying case ($20 value), and the popular PowerA Joy-Con Charging Dock ($25 value). The real draw here is that you’ll get $90 Kohl’s Cash to spend in the weeks following Black Friday.

Best Black Friday Nintendo Switch accessory deals

Nintendo Switch Joy-Con (L/R) Neon Red/Blue or Gray | $60 ($80)

An extra pair of Joy-Con controllers normally sets you back $80, and even though you get “two” controllers, that’s still pricey. Thankfully, Switch Joy-Cons will be on sale for $60 at Amazon, Best Buy, and Target this Black Friday. You can choose between neon red/blue or gray.

No Caption Provided

PowerA wired controllers | $15 ($25)

Like Joy-Cons, Switch Pro controllers are expensive, but there are some reasonable third-party options like PowerA’s lineup of wired controllers. Using the same layout as the Pro controller but with a slightly smaller form factor, PowerA’s wired controllers are pretty darn good and come in three awesome designs: Zelda, Mario, and a Pikachu-yellow Pokemon theme. All three will be discounted to $15 during Best Buy’s Black Friday sale.

No Caption Provided

PowerA Enhanced Wireless Nintendo Switch controllers | $29 ($45)

These PowerA Enhanced wireless Nintendo Switch controllers are good alternatives to Nintendo’s official Pro Controller. They don’t support features like HD Rumble or NFC Amiibo scanning, but they do have two buttons on the back that can be mapped to a face button. This lets you keep your thumbs on the sticks while you’re in the middle of the action.

No Caption Provided

Poke Ball Plus | $20 ($50)

While the Poke Ball Plus initially launched as an alternative controller for Pokemon: Let’s Go, it will also be compatible with Pokemon Sword and Shield, allowing you to “hold” one of your Pokemon and take it with you on the go (presumably to rack up experience points or earn extra items). However, it won’t function as a controller for Pokemon Sword and Shield the same way it did for Pokemon: Let’s Go. The Poke Ball Plus also comes with Mew, a mythical Pokemon that can be transferred into Pokemon: Let’s Go. The accessory is normally $50, but all the major retailers will have it for $20 during Black Friday.

No Caption Provided

Nintendo Switch Elite Edition Starter Kit | $15 ($25)

If you’re buying a Nintendo Switch this holiday season, you should be in the market for a case, too. This starter kit comes with a carrying case, USB-C cable, silicone Joy-Con covers, and a microfiber cleaning cloth. It’ll be discounted to $15 at Best Buy.

No Caption Provided

Insignia Power Pack for Switch/Switch Lite | $12.50 ($25)

For those who like traveling with their Switch (and who doesn’t?), a car charger is a great accessory to have. This Insignia pack comes with a car charger, a USB-C cable, and an extra AC adapter. Having a second AC adapter is handy, as you won’t have to unplug your AC adapter from your dock every time you want to take your Switch on a trip.

Best Black Friday Nintendo Switch Game Deals: Super Mario Odyssey, The Witcher 3, And More

Nintendo and Black Friday are always an interesting duo. Nintendo Switch games don’t go on sale as often, or as steeply, as PS4 and Xbox One games, but Black Friday usually sees huge discounts on just about every kind of consumer good, giving it huge potential for those who’ve patiently waited for sales on their favorite Nintendo games. Based on the Black Friday ads we’ve seen so far, Black Friday 2019 will have a number of great deals on Switch games, including some of the company’s strong first-party offerings from this year.

Where to find the best Nintendo Switch game deals

This year, retailers like Amazon, Target, Best Buy, GameStop, and Walmart will have some of the most popular Switch games for 33% off, dropping the price on games like Mario Tennis Aces, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and Super Mario Odyssey from $60 to $40. The exception here is Walmart and Target, which will have those three games for $30 each.

Those five major retailers will likely account for the vast majority of deals on Switch games. That said, if you prefer to buy digitally, the Nintendo Eshop usually has its own sale on games, so you’ll want to check those out during Black Friday weekend too. At this time, Best Buy, Target, Walmart, Kohl’s, Costco, and Office Depot have released their Black Friday ads. We’ll continue updating our list of the best Switch game deals below as more retailers drop their Black Friday ads.

Nintendo will also have game deals on the Eshop. So far, only UK Eshop deals have been revealed, but we will add notable games from the US sale to the list below when the North American Black Friday sale is unveiled.

Best Black Friday PS4 Game Deals: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Resident Evil 2, And More

The PS4 has seen a number of great games this year, though the console’s first-party offerings haven’t been quite as strong. Still, it’s the second best-selling console ever, which makes it the console of choice when shopping for Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals this month. Here’s your guide to finding the lowest prices on all the games you’ve missed out on, or the ones you loved so much you’re buying them as a gift.

Where to find the best PS4 game deals

Black Friday retailer ads started releasing in early November. Target’s Black Friday ad was the first among major retailers to release this year; Best Buy’s Black Friday ad released soon after, and Walmart’s Black Friday ad closely followed. All three sales offer a wide assortment of PS4 game deals. Expect similarly robust sales from GameStop and Amazon to be announced soon. You should also keep an eye on the PlayStation Store, as Sony usually offers its own deals on digital games throughout Black Friday weekend.

We’ll keep adding to the list below as more Black Friday retailer ads appear online. For now, we’re off to a great start, as Target’s and Best Buy’s ads feature a ton of awesome PS4 games, including numerous 2019 hits for the lowest prices we’ve seen. While specific start times will vary by retailer, all of these game discounts will be available starting Thanksgiving Day.

For more Black Friday 2019 PS4 deals, be sure to check out our guide to the best PS4 console and accessory deals, which include an excellent PS4 Slim bundle, a five-game PSVR mega pack, DualShock 4 controller discounts, and more.

Facebook also plans to discount its Portal devices, which are touchscreen displays that let you video call your friends and family, display photos, and control your smart home with built-in Alexa support, in addition to a lot more. Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare Notes: Update Nerfs The 725, Again

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has gotten another patch, this one targeted at a large array of fixes along with some balance adjustments. It’s available across PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

Among the biggest fixes in the 11/19 patch notes are to an exploit that would let players duplicate killstreaks, and an issue where a player can no longer see the objective after spectating and then retrying a mission. Several challenges have also been fixed, and a few weapons have gotten rebalanced. But the headliner of the set is yet another change to the 725. It has gotten adjustments making it weaker at range but with better spread. Alongside that, the AUG has gotten a buff, and the 680 has gotten a damage range reduction with attachments.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare updates have come frequently, the most recent of which was just a few days ago. That one also nerfed the 725, and came just after another patch had done the same. The shotgun is just too effective at range, so Infinity Ward has been consistently trying to adjust it. Getting the balance right on the 725 is apparently difficult.

“Realism mode is an excellent addition to the slate, and although not all the new multiplayer modes are great, Gunfight and the Night Vision playlist are refreshing standouts,” Kallie Plagge wrote in GameSpot’s Modern Warfare review. “And while the campaign ends up playing it safe in the end, it’s still a memorable one, and it lays a strong foundation for where the Modern Warfare series could go from here.”

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 11/19 Update

GENERAL FIXES:

  • Special Operations: Fix for an issue where a player would see no objective after retrying a mission after spectating (Operation Paladin)

  • CDL: Fix for rulesets in Search and Destroy where Field Upgrades were disabled

  • Fix for an exploit where players could duplicate their killstreaks (“Fix for various exploits”)

  • Fix for the “Blue V” Optic challenge not displaying the proper text description

  • Fix misspelling of “trophy”

Ground War:

  • Fixed a bug that could cause the filter on the respawn selection screen to stay on screen when spawning back in

  • Fix for an issue where the Select Loadout screen would keep reappearing after already selecting a loadout and attempting to spawn back in

Missions/Challenges:

The following challenges have been fixed:

  • “Infiltrator”

  • “Warrior’s Code”

  • “Aggression”

  • “Dominator”

  • “Munitions”

  • Officer progression “Launch Destroys”

  • Officer progression “Heartbreaker”

  • Officer progression ”Precision Airstrike”

  • Officer progression: “Karma”

  • Officer progression “Close and Personal”

Weapons:

  • AUG

    • Increasing close range damage

    • Increasing mid damage range and reduced chest multiplier

  • 725

    • Small reduction to base weapon damage range

    • Significantly reduced the damage range added by attachments

    • Small hips spread increase

    • Reduced effective damage at the hip

  • Model 680: Slight reduction of damage range with all range-extending attachments

Destiny 2’s Vex Offensive: Final Assault Season Event Starts Today

The last of the known new seasonal content for the Season of the Undying hit Destiny 2 today, making a slight change to the Vex Offensive activity. You now face a new, tougher boss fight at the end of your ventures into the Black Garden.

This is the culmination of something of a story arc throughout the Season of the Undying, which kicked off with the launch of the Shadowkeep expansion. The Hive have been doing rituals around the giant black pyramid ship that was discovered buried under the moon’s surface. It’s related to the Darkness, the scary but relatively undeveloped bad guys at the heart of Destiny 2 lore. In response to the Hive’s activities, the time-traveling robots known as the Vex–who also worship the Darkness, just like the Hive–have been launching assaults against the moon all season.

During all that time, the Vanguard, the Guardian leadership in charge of players, have been trying to find a way to stop the Vex. Over the last few weeks, Ikora Rey has been building a big portal to find the root of the Vex’s attacks: the Undying Mind, the robot in charge of the Vex’s lush but evil origin point, the Black Garden. We’ve been visiting the Black Garden all season to weaken the Vex, both in the Vex Assault activity, and in the Garden of Salvation raid.

Ikora’s completed portal brings a change to the Vex Assault activity, where you can now find and kill the Undying Mind, ostensibly stopping the Vex’s plans and cutting off their assault. The trouble is, the Vex’s whole deal is about working in multiple alternate timelines at once. So there’s not just one Undying Mind, there are thousands, operating in multiple timelines. The Guardians need to stop them all, so every time you jump into Vex Offensive, you use Ikora’s portal to summon an Undying Mind from one of the timelines and destroy it. That’s a pretty decent story reason to make the activity replayable over and over again–you might beat the boss once, but there are many copies, and they have a plan.

In practice, Final Assault isn’t especially different from the Vex Offensive we’ve been playing all season. The first two phases of the activity remain the same, requiring you to first kill a whole lot of Vex until you clear a certain number of enemies, and then destroy several “Oracles” that appear around the area, using special objects dropped by Vex Minotaurs. Once you do that, you get to the final boss fight arena where you summon an Undying Mind. It’s a little tougher to kill than the previous Gate Lord bosses, thanks to some new Vex robots that appear and fly straight at you to explode like missiles. But for the most part, it’s the same activity.

This final phase of Vex Offensive does make one big change to the situation, though. It allows you to finally complete the Undying seal on your Triumphs menu. Seals are the biggest bragging rights in Destiny 2, requiring you to gather all the season’s weapons and items, plus knock out a number of grindy Triumphs. Up to now, there was one Triumph that couldn’t be completed, however, because it required you to kill the Undying Mind three times. Now that the Final Assault has begun, it’s possible to complete the seal. That’s a good thing if you’re a Destiny completionist, because the seal is only available in the Season of the Undying, and that comes to a close in about three weeks.

There might be more to Vex Offensive than we’ve seen so far–Bungie’s new approach sees the rollout of new content over time, and just because there’s nothing left on the content calendar for the season doesn’t mean there won’t be secrets. But for the time being, Vex Offensive: Final Assault is a pretty thin addition. It’ll keep you busy if you’re the kind of person who wants to finish a seal and get some recognition from other players, but if you were burned out on Vex Offensive before, a new boss fight probably won’t change much.
