Get An Xbox One X And Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare For The Best Price We’ve Seen

Xbox One X bundles were discounted to $350 on Black Friday and Cyber Monday at all major retailers. That was a great deal, but Ebay’s current offer that coincides with Green Monday is even better–much better, in fact. Right now you can pick up an Xbox One X bundled with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and NBA 2K19 for just $290.

Xbox One X with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and NBA 2K19 | $290 ($500)

This bundle is sold through antonline, a well-known and reliable Ebay seller, and it comes with free shipping. Orders will arrive with plenty of time to spare before Christmas.

As you can tell by the picture above, this is the NBA 2K19 Xbox One X bundle. NBA 2K19 has since been succeeded by NBA 2K20–which is also bundled with some Xbox One X consoles–but outdated basketball sim or not, this is the best Xbox One X bundle we’ve seen this holiday season.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare regularly goes for $60, and Xbox One X bundles retail for $500. Not only are you getting an Xbox One X for $60 less than the Black Friday price (and $210 less overall), you’re also getting one of the most popular games of the holiday season and a great basketball sim as a throw-in, pretty much. This deal probably won’t last long, so you’ll want to jump on it as quickly as possible.

Nintendo confirmed on Twitter that a brand-new Indie World Showcase will stream live at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET on December 10. While what’s to be shown remains unknown, the company said that “roughly 20 minutes of information” will be provided on upcoming Nintendo Switch indies. You can watch the livestream below.

Nintendo Indie World Showcase Livestream and Start Times

  • December 10, 10 AM PT
  • December 10, 1 PM ET
  • December 10, 6 PM GMT

Buy A Nintendo Switch, Get A Nice Bonus For Free

Believe it or not, there’s only about two weeks remaining in the holiday shopping season. For gamers, the Nintendo Switch is sure to be one of the most desired gifts for the third year in a row. Best Buy has a pretty good deal on the new model Switch console for Green Monday. When you buy a Switch on Best Buy’s website–including store pickup orders–you’ll get a $30 gift card.

Nintendo Switch with upgraded battery life

Nintendo Switch (new model) with $30 Best Buy gift card | $300

The offer is good for both controller color options, gray and neon red/neon blue. You’ll receive the gift card via email after picking up your order in-store or after it ships to your address.

Nintendo released the refreshed Nintendo Switch a few months back. The only difference between the new model and the launch model is the battery life. On a full charge, the new model can run for 4.5 to 9 hours in handheld mode, compared to the 2.5 to 6.5 hours of battery life of the launch model. The new model also bests the portable-only Switch Lite, which clocks in at 3 to 7 hours of battery life. Woot is currently selling the Switch Lite for $190, and Amazon Prime members can knock an addition $10 off that price.

If you’re looking to upgrade from the launch model to the new model, check out our quick guide that covers the system transfer. To complement your new purchase, take a look at our gift guides for Nintendo Switch games and accessories.

MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries Launch Trailer Showcases Plenty of Mech On Mech Action

MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries was announced just over three years ago now. Before that, the last entry in the series was released all the way back in 2000 with MechWarrior 4: Vengeance. Sure, MechWarrior Online came out in between, and BattleTech offered a turn-based strategy spin on the same universe, but it’s been a long, long time since we’ve had a single-player MechWarrior game.

That all changes tomorrow, December 10, when MechWarrior 5 finally launches on the Epic Games Store. The latest game in the long-running series is based on the same simulation engine that powers MechWarrior Online, utilising many of the same mechanics and features. It can be played in co-op with up to four players, and AI teammates will fill those positions when you’re playing solo. Much like BattleTech–and as the subtitle implies–you’ll also manage a company of mercenaries, hiring skilled pilots and maintaining your ever-growing fleet of BattleMechs with upgrades and repairs.

Piranha Games has released a launch trailer ahead of MechWarrior 5’s imminent release, showcasing plenty of mech on mech violence and all the collateral damage you can ever ask for.

Reviewer Leif Johnson gave MechWarrior Online 6/10 in GameSpot’s review, saying, “MechWarrior Online is hardly more than a solid arena shooter populated with mechs. If the game had made better use of its assets and given us a reason to care about more than the fleeting pleasures of customization and combat, it might be worth enduring the currency grind. As it is, like its strongest mechs, it runs out of power far too fast.” Hopefully, tedium won’t factor into MechWarrior’s 5 more focused, story-driven campaign.

Death Come True Is A New Mystery FMV Game From The Creator Of Danganronpa

Publisher Izanagi Games has announced a new mystery FMV game called Death Come True. Details are sparse at the moment, but the “authentic full-motion video game” is being written and directed by Danganronpa series creator, Kazutaka Kodaka.

The official website teases the game’s six-strong cast, and if their clothing is anything to go by, Death Come True hasn’t lost any of Kodaka’s previous eccentricity in the move to full-motion video. The tagline asks, “Is this a movie or a game? The story starts with your selections,” and a countdown ending on December 10 at 12:00 AM PT/3:00 PM ET/8:00 pm GMT promises to reveal the game’s lead actor.

No Caption Provided

It will be interesting to see if Death Come True adopts a similar structure to the Danganronpa series–a host of bizarre visual novels that pits a cast of high school students against an evil bear in a battle royale-esque game of murder. The series is comprised of five core games, but its popularity has also spawned numerous spin-offs and both anime and manga series’.

Death Come True is being developed by Too Kyo Games, a studio Kodaka founded with Zero Escape creator Kotaro Uchikoshi. So far the studio has announced four projects, with 2D platformer Death March Club due out on PC and as-yet-unannounced home consoles in 2020. Death Come True doesn’t have a release window yet, nor any announced platforms.

New BioShock Game Officially In Development

2K has announced that a BioShock title is in development at Cloud Chamber, a newly-founded development studio based in San Francisco and Montreal. Cloud Chamber is described as a “collective of storytellers eager to push the frontlines of interactive entertainment by making unique, entertaining, and thoughtful experiences that engage the world.” According to 2K and Cloud Chamber, the BioShock title will be in “development for the next several years.”

“As we continue growing our product portfolio, we remain inspired by opportunities to invest further in our valuable IP, great people, and their collective, long-term potential,” said David Ismailer, president of 2K. “BioShock is one of the most beloved, critically praised, and highest-rated franchises of the last console generation. We can’t wait to see where its powerful narrative and iconic, first-person shooter gameplay head in the future with our new studio team at Cloud Chamber leading the charge.”

Both Cloud Chamber studios will be headed up by Kelley Gilmore, who has significant experience in various aspects of game development and publishing. At 2K in particular, Gilmore has worked on the Civilization and XCOM franchises.

“We founded Cloud Chamber to create yet-to-be-discovered worlds–and their stories within–that push the boundaries of what is possible in the video game medium,” said Gilmore. “Our team believes in the beauty and strength of diversity, in both the makeup of the studio and the nature of its thinking. We are a deeply experienced group of game makers, including many responsible for BioShock’s principal creation, advancement, and longstanding notoriety, and [we are] honored to be part of the 2K family as stewards of this iconic franchise.”

While Gilmore will serve as Global Studio Head of Cloud Chamber and be based in San Francisco, the Canadian arm will be overseen by Ken Schachter, previously general manager for Zynga in Toronto and founder of indie developer and publisher Trapdoor.

The last entry in the BioShock franchise was 2013’s BioShock Infinite. However, the BioShock Collection was released for PC, Xbox One, and PS4 in 2016 and delivered remastered versions of the first BioShock, BioShock 2, and BioShock Infinite.

A variety of 2K studios have contributed to the development of the franchise, with Irrational Games–originally founded as 2K Boston–being the principal developer on the first game and Infinite. 2K Marin took point on the development of BioShock 2, while 2K Australia supported development on some of the games.

It was rumored that, following layoffs, 2K Marin had effectively closed. However, CEO Strauss Zelnick indicated this was not the case and, in fact, the Marin team would continue working on BioShock. GameSpot has sought out comment from 2K on whether the new Cloud Chamber team is what was formerly the 2K Marin team.

Following BioShock Infinite, Irrational Games also downsized significantly and was effectively rebranded as Ghost Story Games. This smaller team is headed up by Ken Levine, creator of the BioShock franchise, and is focused on developing narrative-driven gaming experiences. Little is known about what Ghost Story Games is making, but in October a job posting described it as a “creatively ambitious project in the immersive sim genre,” which is something that Levine, and no doubt others on the team, have experience with, having worked on System Shock 2, SWAT 4, and the BioShock series.

Although Cloud Chamber and 2K have not specified a release window or platforms, it’s a safe bet that the new BioShock title will be for next-generation hardware such as PS5, Scarlett, and PC, given that the project will be in development for several years.

A New Crash Bandicoot Game Might Be Revealed This Week

Last month, Crash Bandicoot fans were convinced Sony was hinting at a new game announcement following the release of PlayStation’s “Time to Play” commercial. A new mask and Crash model both featured in the advertisement, while a leaker with a history of accurate leaks regarding the Crash series said a new game called Crash Bandicoot Worlds was in the works for a planned 2020 release.

Now, Activision is piling on the speculation with more teases about a new Crash Bandicoot game reveal. YouTuber Canadian Guy Eh spotted a number of social media posts from “large scale influencers” posing with different Crash figurines they had just received. Activision used a similar tactic this time last year, sending out Crash-themed gifts just days before Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled was announced at The Game Awards 2018.

All of this falls neatly into place before this week’s two big reveal events: PlayStation’s final State of Play of the year on Tuesday, December 10, and the 2019 edition of The Game Awards on Thursday, December 12. With a plethora of new game reveals set to be announced across both shows, it seems like there’s a very good chance a new Crash Bandicoot game will make an appearance before the end of this week.

The orange mascot hasn’t had a major new game release since 2008’s Crash: Mind Over Mutant, but both Sony and Microsoft have been firmly back on the Bandicoot train over the past few years. His first game appeared as a cameo in Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, before the N. Sane Trilogy and Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled reintroduced some of his classic games to modern audiences. Perhaps this was a way to gauge interest in a completely new game in the series? We should know for sure by the end of this week.

Tekken 7 Reveals Two More New Fighters For Season 3, Plus Leroy Out This Week

Tekken 7 recently kicked off its third season with Zafina, and now the third and fourth fighters being added have been revealed. One’s returning to the series after some time away, but the other is brand new.

Returning to the world of Tekken is Ganryu, last seen in Tekken 6. He remains a bit of a goofy character, and his open-palm hits look pretty painful. He’s Tekken’s equivalent of E. Honda in the Street Fighter series, and it looks like he’s a streamer now. Here’s his character trailer.

The next all-new fighter for Tekken 7 is Fahkumram, a Muay Thai champion. His intimidating size and strange look is shown off in the trailer below, along with his punishing attacks. We wonder what the story is with those scars and throbbing veins. He’s the fourth and final character to be added this season.

Meanwhile, Leroy Smith–the second character added in season 3–got a release date. He’s coming December 10, and you can check out his moves (and his kickass theme song) in the video below.

Ganryu is due before the close of winter (meaning February 2020), and Fahkumram will arrive at a later date. The season pass will also give you access to frame data display and add an additional stage, both at a later date.

Epic Games Store Now Gives Developers More Control Over In-Game Purchases

The Epic Games Store has pulled a lot of exclusives with its promise of advances to developers and publishers, and its more generous revenue split compared to Steam, and now it’s taking another step to make things better for the companies releasing games on it. A change in the Epic Games Store policy means that developers are now free to use whatever payment and purchase systems they want within their games.

As reported by Gamasutra, until this change games on the store had to use an Epic-approved payment system for in-game purchases. “We support developers’ right to choose among the best stores, in-app payment processors, online services, and engines,” Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney told them.

This will mean that developers will potentially be able to retain a larger share of the revenue generated from in-game sales, whether those be microtransactions or the purchase of more substantial downloadable content. From a consumer point of view–and, indeed, for a lot of developers–this change probably will not mean much, but there’s now potential for developers to make more money from their in-game sales.

The latest major Epic Games Store exclusive is Phoenix Point, a spiritual successor to XCom.
