PS4 Black Friday 2019 Game Deals: $10 PlayStation Exclusives, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Madden NFL 20, And More

Sony’s PS4 still stands on top as the world’s leading gaming console this generation (as well as the second best-selling console ever), which means there are tons of PS4 game deals on Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Now’s your chance to save big on PlayStation exclusives like God of War and Marvel’s Spider-Man, sports titles such as Madden NFL 20 and NBA 2K20, and recently-released games like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Shenmue 3, and Need for Speed Heat.

Where to find the best PS4 game deals

Target’s Black Friday ad was the first among major retailers to release this year; Best Buy’s Black Friday ad released soon after, and Walmart’s Black Friday ad closely followed. GameStop was late to the party, but the chain game retailer has a bunch of games on sale that other retailers don’t have. Amazon is matching a bunch of its competitors’ prices. All five sales offer a wide assortment of PS4 game deals. Of course, Sony’s on PlayStation Store has its own share of digital-only deals to choose from.

Xbox One S All-Digital Edition Hits Lowest Price Yet For Black Friday 2019

The Black Friday 2019 deals continue, as Rakuten has announced one of the best offers we’ve ever seen on the Xbox One S All-Digital Edition. The retailer is selling the console for only $115 USD.

That is a huge savings, as the console–which does not have a disc drive–normally goes for $250. It’s also below Microsoft’s official Black Friday discount that drops it down to $150. In addition to the console, the bundle comes with copies of Minecraft, Sea of Thieves, and Fortnite: Battle Royale bonus content.

To see the lower price, you must use the discount code THANKS20 at checkout on Thanksgiving Day, which slashes an additional 20% off the price. Assuming the deal lasts until Black Friday, you’ll be able to use promo code BF20 on Friday to claim the offer.

No Caption Provided

Xbox One S All-Digital Edition | $115.79 ($250)

The Xbox One S All-Digital Edition launched in May in the United States before coming to other parts of the world later on. It’s the same model as the Xbox One S but without a disc drive, thereby appealing to those who prefer to consume their games and entertainment digitally.

This isn’t the only special offer that Rakuten has on Xbox hardware this Black Friday. The retailer is also selling the Gears 5 Xbox One S bundle with a stereo headset for $260 USD by using the same promo codes mentioned above. This bundle also includes the previous Gears of War games.

Black Friday 2019 GoG Deals: Disco Elysium, Witcher 3, And More

The Black Friday 2019 deals are beginning to come out in full swing–with several of the digital distributors like The Epic Games Store and Steam joining the fray of massive discounts. GoG is also hosting a Black Friday sale this year, which is going on right now and is scheduled to continue until December 3.

There are several notable PC games on sale on GoG for Black Friday, including Disco Elysium–a game that GameSpot gave a 10/10 score to. In GameSpot’s Disco Elysium review, David Wildgoose wrote, “Disco Elysium is a mad, sprawling detective story where the real case you’ve got to crack isn’t who killed the man strung up on a tree in the middle of town–though that in itself, replete with dozens of unexpected yet intertwined mysteries and wild excursions into the ridiculous, is engrossing enough to sustain the game. Rather, it’s an investigation of ideas, of the way we think, of power and privilege, and of how all of us are shaped, with varying degrees of autonomy, by the society we find ourselves in.”

Normally going for $40, Disco Elysium has been discounted to $32 on GoG for Black Friday. It’s one of the better prices you’ll find for Disco Elysium this Black Friday–though Steam is offering the exact same discount if you prefer to shop from them. Other noteworthy GoG sales include A Plague Tale: Innocence (discounted from $45 to $22.49), Blasphemous (discounted from $25 to $20), Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition (discounted from $20 to $6), and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Game of the Year Edition (discounted from $50 to $15). Every discount is listed below.

Black Friday Hours 2019: When GameStop, Walmart, Target Open On Thanksgiving

The long Black Friday and Cyber Monday 2019 weekend kicks off today, with plenty of stores opening later today and having their doorbuster deals all ready to go. Plenty of deals are live online already, but a few places are saving their best deals for when their physical stores open. Store hours and deal vary by retailer and the best deals go quick, so if you were hoping grab a good deal on a Switch Lite, PS4, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, or whatever other item has caught your eye and just wanted to head to the nearest store, you might be missing out.

Quite a few stores will open Thanksgiving evening, shut their doors later that night, and then re-open on Black Friday proper. However, you’ll definitely be waiting until Friday to do in-store shopping if you live in Rhode Island, Maine, or Massachusetts, where opening on Thanksgiving is illegal. Of course, you can always head online if heading to a store isn’t an option.

Please note that some stores haven’t released the exact time their deals will be live, only the date. We’ve included the information available below and will continue to update this story as more retailers announce their store hours and start times.

Amazon

While Amazon has opened a small (but growing) number of brick-and-mortar stores across the US, the bulk of its Black Friday discounts will be available on Amazon.com. Because Amazon is primarily an online store, it’s not waiting until the end of the month to start offering its Black Friday deals. Instead, Amazon launched its Happy HoliDeals sale on November 1 with discounts across gaming, tech, entertainment, and other categories. And in the leadup to Black Friday 2019, deals will be available on Amazon at all hours, including a wide range of smart devices. Basically, Amazon will have deals going live all the time, so check back often.

  • Available Now until December 2: Official Xbox deals available to everyone

Ebay

While Amazon may be a go-to source for many people’s online shopping, Ebay has continued to surprise us with great gaming deals on a regular basis, especially when it comes to discounts on new games or subscription services like PS Plus. It also had some of the best deals around during Prime Day 2019, so be sure to keep your eye on Ebay during Black Friday this year.

Ebay is offering a series of “Black Friday Drops” every Friday leading up the major event. So far, they’ve offered nice discounts on expensive tech like the Apple Watch Series 5 and Bose SoundTouch 10 wireless speaker, and we even saw a great bundle with the Nintendo Switch Lite and Pokemon Sword and Shield. Each Black Friday Drop goes live at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET every Friday now through December 13. The spotlight deal for Black Friday itself, November 29, hasn’t yet been revealed.

Black Friday 2019 Gaming Deals: Stores Open Thanksgiving, Biggest Discounts, And More–Complete Guide

Black Friday 2019 is here. If you’re a gamer or are shopping for one, expect to find a ton of deals on gaming consoles, games, accessories, tech, and more over the Black Friday and Cyber Monday weekend. Not every deal on a PS4, Xbox One, Switch, or gaming headset is a big one, however, and you shouldn’t always snatch up the first one you see–you can usually find a slightly better deal if you’re willing to shop around. Not everyone has the time to do that, though, which is why we’re here to help you find the best price on whatever gaming gift you’re looking for this Thanksgiving weekend.

Whether you have a long list of loved ones to buy for or a personal wishlist, it’s best to have a plan when shopping on Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Typically, ads from all of the big retailers leak weeks in advance, but this year, things are slightly different; many brick-and-mortar retailers like Walmart, Best Buy, GameStop, and Target published their Black Friday 2019 ads well in advance, giving us a closer look at what deals will be available and when. In fact, we already know most of what’s to come, with some exceptions like Nintendo Switch’s Eshop. Nintendo of Europe announced its Eshop deals early, but we’re still waiting to see which digital Switch games will be on sale in North America.

There are sure to be new deals that pop up or new items you might decide you want–the announcement of Half-Life: Alyx might suddenly have you in the market for an Oculus Rift or other VR headset. But it’s time to start planning your Black Friday shopping to ensure you get the best deals and don’t miss on the things you want most.

Read on for everything you need to know to prepare for this year’s Black Friday, including the best deals to be aware of at different retailers across gaming (including PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch hardware and games), tech, and entertainment.

When is Black Friday 2019?

Well, it’s tricky. Black Friday is technically the day after Thanksgiving, of course, so it falls on November 29 this year. But many retailers have begun offering deals already, and the schedule is all over the place–some retailers are closed on Thanksgiving, some are open as usual, and some are open for a set number of hours during the long weekend. While the schedule varies from store to store, most of the best deals seem to have already dropped. Other deals won’t be available until Black Friday itself, however, which can make things tricky. Once Black Friday kicks into full gear, the deals will mostly like continue through the weekend and pick up steam again on Cyber Monday.

Because the schedule of Black Friday deals varies so widely from store to store, here’s an overview of when we know deals will be available for Best Buy, Target, Microsoft, Ebay, and other major retailers for Black Friday this year. Please note that start times often differ based on whether the deal is online or in brick-and-mortar stores. As more retailers release their Black Friday ads, we’ll include that information here.

Black Friday Deals 2019: Oculus Quest And Rift S Deals In Time For Half-Life: Alyx

Oculus released one of the most exciting VR headsets this year–the Oculus Quest–and while there isn’t a discount, there are some really awesome deals currently available for the Quest and its other headsets during Black Friday 2019. The VR company has announced several deals on its headsets, including the Oculus Go, Oculus Rift S, and, of course, the all-in-one Oculus Quest headset. They’re not quite as meaty as the PS4 PlayStation VR headset, but with Valve recently announcing Half-Life: Alyx (a new, VR-only game set between Half-Life and Half-Life 2), it’s a good time to get into PC VR. And guess what? The Oculus Quest and Rift S are both ready to play Half-Life: Alyx when it releases. With these deals, it’s the best time ever to pick up a VR headset.

The Oculus Quest Black Friday deal isn’t much, but it’s a good starter pack. It comes with the headset, the latest Oculus Touch controllers, and all three episodes of its Star Wars VR series, Vader Immortal, and you can get it until January 31. You’ll need to activate your Oculus Quest within 30 days of your purchase to get Vader Immortal for free, with March 2 being the last possible day to redeem the offer.

While the Quest doesn’t receive a special price, Oculus is discounting the rest of its VR headsets for Black Friday. Starting November 28 until December 2, the Oculus Rift S and both versions of the Oculus Go will be discounted by $50.

Facebook also plans to discount its Portal devices, which are touchscreen displays that let you video call your friends and family, display photos, and control your smart home with built-in Alexa support, in addition to a lot more. The Portal, Portal Mini, and Portal TV are all discounted by $50, while the Portal Plus sees a price cut of $30. You can see the full list of deals below.

For Black Friday, the Portal will be $130 from November 28 to December 2.

Overwatch 2: Campaign Leveling Will Be Separate From Competitive, And Other New Details

Overwatch 2 was revealed earlier this month during BlizzCon 2019, and it’s coming to PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Its major new addition is a single-player (and co-op) campaign that will bring all of the heroes together to battle a new threat, and fans are hungry for more details. Now lead writer Michael Chu and assistant game director Aaron Keller have spoken to PlayStation Blog about the story they’re working on, giving us some further information about this new mode.

Keller states that Blizzard wants players to experience more the Overwatch’s world than they have previously, and that the campaign missions “tell an engaging narrative about how the heroes of Overwatch respond to a new global threat.” These missions are “deeply replayable,” apparently, and will shift players between “a wide variety of locations all over the world.” He mentions the leveling system, and says that “players will level their heroes and use different elements to modify their abilities and power levels.”

Keller also says that Blizzard has “lots of heroes in the works” beyond Sojourn. This matches up to earlier reports that suggested that Blizzard has internal concept art for at least four other heroes that are being worked on. “We can’t get into who they are exactly, or what their gameplay might be like,” Keller says, “but they will help round out the world of Overwatch and give us new gameplay mechanics we have not yet seen.”

Michael Chu’s early answers reflect earlier comments about how Overwatch 2 will follow up on the threads established with the original game, but he has more to say on the game’s structure here. “With story missions, we’ll have a more traditional way to tell a story in the Overwatch universe,” he says. “A complete story with beginning, middle, and end. In addition, we’ve finally moved the story forward after Winston’s recall, and we hope to continue to push events into the future in the stories to come.”

Keller notes that the maps added for the campaign are about twice as large as the multiplayer maps we’re used to, stating that they’ve “got way more advanced technology to show dynamic weather, lightning, explosions, and more.” Every mission will have its own opening and closing cinematic, Keller confirms. He also says that, at present, progression between the campaign and standard multiplayer is planned on being kept separate, so that leveling up in one mode does not affect your progress in the other. “Our goal is to make a robust meaningful progression system that feeds into our Hero Missions where players can play and replay for many hours or as their main mode of play after they complete the Overwatch 2 story.”

Overwatch 2 does not yet have an release date or window. Work on it has slowed updates for the original, but once it releases the two iterations of Overwatch will share all PVP content.
