PS4 Black Friday Games Sale On PSN: Modern Warfare, Borderlands 3, And More

The PlayStation Store has brought the Black Friday savings early with a heap of discounts on PS4 games. Sony announced the PSN digital games sale on the PlayStation Blog, including a nice offer on PlayStation Plus. The Black Friday sale is live now and continues through December 2–better known as Cyber Monday–with new games being added to the sale throughout its run.

The PS4 games available now include recent releases like Borderlands 3, Destiny 2: Shadowkeep, and The Outer Worlds in addition to Mortal Kombat 11, Monster Hunter World Iceborne, and Need for Speed Heat. There are also discounts on the Operator editions for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, but if you can wait until later in the sale, you’ll be able to get a deal on that game’s standard edition for cheaper.

On November 24, even more games will be added to the sale, including a bunch of PS4 exclusives like Days Gone, God of War, and Marvel’s Spider-Man. And as mentioned earlier, a new deal on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare‘s standard edition will be made available on November 29.

Lastly, annual subscriptions for PlayStation Plus are available for 25% off throughout the duration of the sale. That brings down the price to $45 for a year, so if you’re looking to upgrade to the annual plan or extend your membership, this is a good opportunity to do so.

We’ve highlighted some of the best game deals below, but you can see the full list in its entirety on the PlayStation Blog. The first wave of Black Friday discounts shown below will be live in the PlayStation Store on Friday morning. Amazon Black Friday Sale Live: Early Deals On PS4, Xbox One, Cheap Games, And More

Amazon has been rolling out the deals ahead of Black Friday 2019 for a while now as part of its Happy HoliDeals sale, but the biggest deals are finally starting to go live.

As with Prime Day, Amazon’s holiday deals page includes a mix of Lightning Deals–which are only available for a limited time–and longer-term deals that should be available throughout the duration of this first round of deals (or while supplies last). Following a round of early deals, the official Black Friday countdown has begun at Amazon, marking a week of deals that will run right up until November 29, Black Friday itself. Aside from this week of deals, expect one-time-only deals to launch throughout the day on Thanksgiving Day, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday. We won’t know what those are until they’re live (thanks, Amazon).

So far, Amazon’s Black Friday sale includes many of the official offers from Sony and Microsoft. That includes an excellent PS4 Slim bundle with three console-exclusive games for $200, a limited-edition Xbox One X console with Gears 5 for $349, controllers for $39 each, and a 12-month PS Plus membership for $45, among other deals. Many of Amazon’s own smart devices are starting to see steep discounts as well, like the Fire HD 10 Tablet for $100 ($50 off) and the Kindle Paperwhite for $85 ($45 off).

Nintendo Switch console deals have been limited so far for Black Friday 2019. Later this week, Amazon will be offering the official Nintendo bundle, which is recycled from last year–the bundle will include a launch model Switch (without improved battery life) and a digital copy of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. We’ll have to wait and see if Amazon offers any exceptional Switch deals on its own, but we do expect to see some nice Switch game discounts as Black Friday grows closer.

Live Now: Amazon’s Black Friday week of deals

We’ve highlighted some of the best games on sale already at Amazon below, but you can find even more game discounts at Amazon as part of the Black Friday countdown.

No, we haven’t entered a time machine and gone back to Black Friday 2018. Nintendo is offering the same Nintendo Switch holiday bundle that was available last year. For $300, you can get the Switch and a digital copy of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. The potential snag with this bundle? It’s the launch model Switch, which means you won’t get the upgraded battery that comes with the newer Switch model released a few months back. That said, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is an incredible game that normally sells for about $50.

Nintendo Switch Joy-Cons – $53.60

Nintendo Switch Joy-Cons (Gray or Neon Red/Blue) | $53.60

Nintendo’s pricey Joy-Con controllers will be down to $60 on Black Friday at many retailers, but if Amazon’s press release is correct, each pair of Joy-Cons will be available for $53.60, a full 33% off rather than 25%. The Echo Dot without the clock comes with all the Alexa features you need in a compact form factor. Ask for music, the news, weather, traffic, and more, thanks to the thousands of skills you can have your Echo Dot learn.

Amazon Echo Auto – $30

Echo Auto | $30 ($50)

PS4 Black Friday Deals 2019: PS4 Pro, Slim Bundle, PSVR, And More

Sony has revealed their official Black Friday PS4 deals for Black Friday 2019, and they’re pretty tempting if you haven’t picked up Sony’s latest console yet, need a new one, or are just browsing for a second console in your home or office. Some of these deals were leaked ahead of time by various retailer Black Friday ads, but some deals, like a $100 discount on the PS4 Pro, are a nice surprise. These deals are already live at most major retailers in the United States, where they’ll end December 2. The deals will be live in Canada from November 28 to December 6.

For those looking to grab a powerful console with a great library of games, you can’t go wrong with the PS4 Pro at its Black Friday price: $300 USD. Alternatively, an excellent PS4 Slim bundle will be available for just $200 USD, and it includes three PS4-exclusive classics: God of War, The Last of Us Remastered, and Horizon Zero Dawn: Complete Edition. While the PS5 is slated to release next holiday season, that’s still at least a year away, and for budget-savvy shoppers, these console discounts are a welcome surprise.

Some of 2019’s PS4-exclusive releases will be on sale for just $20 USD, including Marvel’s Spider-Man: Game of the Year Edition, which includes all DLC. You’ll also be able to grab Days Gone, MediEvil, Concrete Genie, and MLB The Show 19 at that price. Meanwhile, some older PS4 classics will be just $10 USD (down from $20). The PlayStation Hits collection includes God of War, The Last of Us Remastered, Persona 5, Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, and more.

If you’ve been interested in PlayStation VR, Black Friday is also bringing an excellent PSVR bundle with five games, and it’s perhaps the best offer we’ve seen on PSVR. For $200 USD, you’ll get not only the PSVR headset and camera but also vouchers to download some of the system’s best games: Astro Bot Rescue Mission, Skyrim VR, Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, Everybody’s Golf VR, and PlayStation VR Worlds. Alternatively, there’s a two-game bundle that includes Blood & Truth and Everybody’s Golf VR for $250 USD, but note that this bundle also includes two PS Move controllers (which can cost $100 on their own).

Finally, there are some less-than-stellar offers to be aware of as well, like the PlayStation Gold wireless headset for $70 USD (it’s already $69 on Amazon right now) and the 12-month PS Plus membership for $45. The PS Plus membership price is a particular bummer as it’s been offered for $40 in previous years, but it’s still likely places like Amazon, Ebay, and Newegg will offer it for cheaper during Black Friday.

Now that PlayStation has announced its official deals, we have a pretty good idea of what the best PS4 deals will be during Black Friday. Be sure to check out our guides to the best overall PS4 deals as well as the best deals on PS4 games and consoles and accessories.

PlayStation Plus Black Friday Deal Now Available: $40 For 12-Month Membership

Black Friday 2019 certainly has a lot of amazing PS4 console deals to grab while you can, but one deal both new buyers and longtime owners can get in on is for PlayStation Plus memberships. The subscription service lets you play mutliplayer games like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Destiny 2: Shadowkeep online, store all of your save data online so you can access it from any PS4 you log into, and play two free games each month for as long as you’re a member. You also get bonus deals on the PSN store all throughout the year, making it a pretty killer service overall.

A yearly subscription to PS Plus usually costs $60, but Black Friday weekend and Cyber Monday will be the best times to shop for deals on PlayStation Plus. Last year, the service was discounted to $40 at numerous retailers, including GameStop, Amazon, Best Buy, and Walmart. PlayStation also offered the $40 price on the PlayStation Store, so you could buy it straight from your console.

Ebay currently has 12-month subscription cards for $40. As they are physical cards, you’ll have to wait to redeem it until it arrives in the mail, but it comes with free shipping.

When it comes to actual Black Friday sales, PlayStation Plus will only be discounted to $45 at most major retailers. That’s still a 25% savings, so it’s worth tacking on another year to your subscription at this price. You can snag the discounted 12-month subscription at a couple of retailers now as part of their early Black Friday sales.

Black Friday Store Hours 2019: Start Times For Best Buy, Walmart, Target, And More

Black Friday and Cyber Monday 2019 is already here for most of us, as plenty of stores and retailers have outlined when they plan to unleash their biggest discounts, or have already done so. It’s a little different with physical retailers, however; if you’re early in line to grab a a Switch Lite, PS4, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, or whatever other deal has caught your eye, you might miss out, so if you don’t know when deals go live and when stores open, you may not get the absolute best deal.

Many retailers have started offering deals already in early access sales. Look for the bulk of Black Friday deals to go live today or tomorrow, Thanksgiving day; however, some deals won’t go live until Black Friday itself. Quite a few stores will open Thanksgiving evening, shut their doors later that night, and then re-open on Black Friday proper. However, you’ll definitely be waiting until Friday to do in-store shopping if you live in Rhode Island, Maine, or Massachusetts, where opening on Thanksgiving is illegal. Of course, you can always head online if heading to a store isn’t an option.

Please note that some stores haven’t released the exact time their deals will be live, only the date. We’ve included the information available below and will continue to update this story as more retailers announce their store hours and start times.

Black Friday 2019: Start times and store hours

Best Buy

Most of Best Buy’s deals will be available starting on Thanksgiving, presumably in the morning for online shopping and later on at 5 PM for brick-and-mortar stores. However, you can find some Black Friday deals on Best Buy’s site right now.

  • November 28-December 1: All Black Friday deals and doorbusters will be available.

  • Sunday, Dec. 1: 11 AM – 7 PM

Amazon

While Amazon has opened a small (but growing) number of brick-and-mortar stores across the US, the bulk of its Black Friday discounts will be available on Amazon.com. Because Amazon is primarily an online store, it’s not waiting until the end of the month to start offering its Black Friday deals. Instead, Amazon launched its Happy HoliDeals sale on November 1 with discounts across gaming, tech, entertainment, and other categories. And in the leadup to Black Friday 2019, deals will be available on Amazon at all hours, including a wide range of smart devices. Basically, Amazon will have deals going live all the time, so check back often.

  • Available Now: Deals will go live every day up until Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and probably the week after Cyber Monday.

Target

Today, Target will have some special access deals for RedCard and Circle members. Otherwise, online deals will become available to everyone Thanksgiving morning, with brick-and-mortar stores opening at 5 PM on Thanksgiving Day this year. Microsoft Store

Microsoft’s Black Friday deals are live now until December 2 (or while supplies last). In addition to Xbox deals, you’ll find some nice discounts on gaming laptops, monitors, headphones, and more during Black Friday.

  • Available Now until December 2: Official Xbox deals available to everyone

Ebay

While Amazon may be a go-to source for many people’s online shopping, Ebay has continued to surprise us with great gaming deals on a regular basis, especially when it comes to discounts on new games or subscription services like PS Plus. It also had some of the best deals around during Prime Day 2019, so be sure to keep your eye on Ebay during Black Friday this year.

Ebay is offering a series of “Black Friday Drops” every Friday leading up the major event. So far, they’ve offered nice discounts on expensive tech like the Apple Watch Series 5 and Bose SoundTouch 10 wireless speaker, and we even saw a great bundle with the Nintendo Switch Lite and Pokemon Sword and Shield. Each Black Friday Drop goes live at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET every Friday now through December 13. The spotlight deal for Black Friday itself, November 29, hasn’t yet been revealed.

Steam

For PC gamers, Steam’s Black Friday sale (or “Autumn Sale”) will be a huge opportunity to snag games on their wishlist at a discount. Unfortunately, Steam doesn’t release information about its sales ahead of time, and that likely won’t change for Black Friday 2019. That said, we have a pretty good idea when Steam’s Black Friday sale will start. According to a leak a few months ago, Steam’s Autumn sale will go live on November 26 and run until December 3. This is a bit later than in previous years, but considering Black Friday is also happening later this year, the November 26 start date is believable. It’s worth noting the leak also accurately predicted the dates for Steam’s Halloween sale last month.

  • November 26-December 3: Steam’s Autumn Sale

Newegg

Online store Newegg is another great source for tech and gaming deals year-round, and the website has been gearing up for Black Friday all month long. Newegg has opted to celebrate “Black November” rather than limiting its deals to Thanksgiving weekend, and you can already find great discounts on gaming laptops, desktops, graphics cards, and more.

  • Available now: Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals available

Costco

If you’re someone who has a Costco membership, there are plenty of Black Friday gaming deals awaiting you this year. However, Costco will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, so there’s no beating the Black Friday rush if you plan to shop in stores. If you prefer to shop online, deals are already available, but some of the best deals will go live on Costco.com the Sunday before Thanksgiving.

  • Available now: Early holiday deals available on Costco.com

Costco store hours

  • Thanksgiving Day: Closed
  • Black Friday, Nov. 29: 9 AM – 8:30 PM (may vary by store)

Kohl’s

Kohl’s isn’t usually a store you think of for tech and gaming deals, but the brick-and-mortar retailer is stepping up its game with some solid deals this year, including a nice Nintendo Switch bundle. Plus, the store is offering $15 of Kohl’s Cash for every $50 you spend from November 25-29, an excellent deal if you shop there regularly. On top of that, select products are eligible for an additional 15% off both in stores and online with promo code THANKS15.

  • Live Now: Online Black Friday deals
  • Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28: Online doorbusters available at midnight CT / 1 AM ET (10 PM PT on Nov. 27) through 1 PM on Black Friday (or while supplies last)
  • November 30-December 9: Customers who earned Kohl’s Cash during Black Friday week can redeem it on anything online and in stores
