With most major retailers having unveiled their Black Friday 2019 deals, we’re able to round up the absolute best deals on some of the year’s most popular games. NBA 2K20, 2K’s annual basketball sim, already has some great discounts on PS4, Xbox One, and Switch, and best of the bunch is at Walmart right now.

Walmart has the PS4, Xbox One, and Switch versions for $27. Walmart’s Black Friday sale kicks off on November 27 at 7 PM PT / 10 PM ET online and in stores at 6 PM local time on November 28. Walmart’s early video game sale kicks off on November 23 at 9 PM PT / November 24 at 12 AM ET, but you’ll have to wait until November 27 for the deal on NBA 2K20.

This Xbox One X bundle comes with a digital copy of NBA 2K20 and a special-edition Hyperspace Xbox One X and controller, which feature a unique paint splash design. In GameSpot’s NBA 2K20 impressions, critic Kevin Wong wrote about how the new game’s story mode attempts to have a social conscience, leaving behind the awkward attempts at humour and “hip” dialogue of previous entries. While it doesn’t quite stick the landing, Wong wrote that the basketball gameplay is still as great as it always is.

“Is it even possible to have a truly woke narrative in a game so relentlessly money and fame-driven? Perhaps not.” Wong wrote. “But NBA 2K20 asks you to accept this melding at face value. That’s impossible, but thankfully, there’s a legacy of NBA 2K quality that makes the reconciliation less important. The story and how it’s told don’t hold up to scrutiny. But the gameplay, honed from years of incremental development and effort, always does. NBA 2K20 is, even in its contradictions, an excellent facsimile of the NBA itself.”

Black Friday 2019 is filled with all kinds of deals on the year’s biggest games. Now that we know what most stores will have on offer ahead of the shopping holiday, we’ve rounded up the best deals on all the hottest games, and that includes Madden NFL 20. There are quite a few deals on EA’s football sim, but the best deal we’ve seen so far is at Walmart, where you can get the game for only $27.

Walmart’s Black Friday sale kicks off on November 27 and includes many other games, in addition to Madden. Most of their prices edge out Best Buy and Target, though there are a few that are cheaper at other retailers. We’ll be sure to keep you up to date on the lowest prices right here on GameSpot.

EA’s latest football game received a score of 8/10 in our Madden NFL 20 review. GameSpot’s Eddie Makuch praised its new X-Factor abilities, week-to-week challenges, and on-the-sticks gameplay, the latter of which he says is “the best it’s ever been.” However, the story elements of the QB1 mode and the minimal changes to Franchise mode left him wanting.

“Madden NFL 20 is an improved version of the annualized professional football series that excels in some areas and leaves something to be desired in others,” he wrote. “The new QB1 career mode–which includes a barebones NCAA football experience–overall feels like a half-baked idea that doesn’t deliver anything meaningful or interesting. When it comes to the on-the-field action, however, the new X-Factor and Superstar abilities shake up the familiar gameplay formula to give seasoned players and newcomers alike a fresh way to scheme plays and orchestrate strategy on both sides of the ball.”

Borderlands 3 is barely two months old, but we’re already seeing savings as big as 50% off for Black Friday this year, courtesy of Best Buy. $28 is the lowest price we’ve seen for Gearbox’s critically acclaimed, over-the-top loot-based shooter so far.

Best Buy’s Black Friday ad only mentions the PS4 version, so it’s not entirely clear if the Xbox One version will be discounted to $28 as well. We imagine it will be, but if for some reason it’s not, Walmart will have Borderlands 3 for $30 on both Xbox One and PS4.

We’re still waiting on GameStop‘s Black Friday ad, and we don’t know what price Amazon will sell it for, so there’s a chance a better deal on Borderlands 3 could crop up. But make no mistake: $28 for a recently released AAA game is an awesome deal.

In our Borderlands 3 review, Jordan Ramée awarded the game an impressive 8/10, commending the story for bringing the ten years of Borderlands 3 to a rewarding close. He also praised the new emphasis on weapon brands and character class variety, but he wasn’t too fond of the bullet-sponge bosses.

Tons of stores are dropping major discounts for Black Friday 2019, and that includes games. We’ve already seen some big markdowns on some of the year’s best releases, and that includes Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the latest entry in the popular first-person shooter series. We’ve rounded up the best Black Friday deals we’ve seen so far, and will update this list if we see any other deals pop up over the course of the holiday season.

So far, the best deal for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare comes from Walmart, which has the game for only $38–a great price for such a new CoD game, given that games in the series often maintain their MSRP for a long time. Walmart kicks off its online sale for Black Friday on November 27 at 7 PM PT / 10 PM ET. The deals will also be made available in stores starting at 6 PM local time on November 28. At this time, we only know that physical copies for PS4 and Xbox One are included; it’s unclear if digital versions will also be available. But whichever platform you pick it up on, you’ll receive three hours of double XP.

This PS4 Pro bundle from Walmart includes both the console and a copy of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. The Black Friday bundle will cost $300 and be available during Walmart’s early access Black Friday sale on November 23 at 9 PM PT / November 24 at 12 AM ET.

Modern Warfare received a score of 7/10 in our Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare review. GameSpot’s Kallie Plagge was disappointed by its lackluster Spec Ops mode but still enjoyed Modern Warfare’s exciting campaign and new multiplayer modes, including the 2v2 Gunfight mode.

“The pitfalls of Spec Ops don’t detract from what Modern Warfare does well, though,” she wrote. “Realism mode is an excellent addition to the slate, and although not all the new multiplayer modes are great, Gunfight and the Night Vision playlist are refreshing standouts. And while the campaign ends up playing it safe in the end, it’s still a memorable one, and it lays a strong foundation for where the Modern Warfare series could go from here.”

Out of nowhere, Valve earlier this week confirmed that a new Half-Life game–the first in more than decade–was on the way.
