Hearthstone Bringing Back Fan Favorite Cards In “Hallow’s End”

Hearthstone is introducing another of its annual Halloween events, this time with an eldritch horror twist. The series of events continues the year-long story that has been tracking through its various expansions, while also introducing a load of new events, a few special bundles, and the reintroduction of older cards into Standard play.

First, the game will introduce a series of spooky Tavern Brawls starting on October 8. Doom in the Tomb will come in two parts. The first week will let you play as a League of Evil member in a Haunted Temple, and completing the single-player run in record time will earn you rewards. Finishing in an hour will net you a Rastakhan’s Rumble pack, and if you can manage it in 40 minutes you’ll get a golden Ancient Mysteries card. The second week will be similar, but you’ll play as Reno Jackson and the timed challenges will get you a golden Temple Berserker and golden Generous Mummy, respectively. The third special Tavern Brawl will be The Haunted Carousel, with a Rise of Shadows card pack to win.

Also during the event period, Blizzard is bringing 23 cards back from Wild and putting them into Standard rotation for a limited time. Most notably it includes some fan favorite cards that have been taken out of Standard, like N’Zoth the Corruptor, Sylvanas Windrunner, and Ragnaros. These will be “Event” cards, which means all players will be granted temporary copies for the duration of the event. You can see the full list of returning cards below.

The Arena will get its own special twist too with the return of a Dual-Class “Hallow’s End dress-up party.” You’ll choose a Hero and then a separate Hero Power, and your pool of Arena cards will feature both classes. To try out the Arena event, you’ll be able to claim Arena Tickets as login rewards during weeks 1 and 2. Other new Legendary quests and login bonuses will grant you extra packs and gold rewards.

Finally, Hearthstone will be offering “Hex & Flex” bundles during the event. The Hex bundle is themed after the League of Evil, offering 20 Rise of Shadows packs and a random Shadows legendary for $20. The Flex bundle is similarly themed after the League of Heroes, with 20 Saviors of Uldum packs and a random Uldum legendary for $20.

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne Adding Resident Evil 2 Costumes

The first update for Monster Hunter World‘s new Iceborne expansion arrives this month, but that’s not the only new content players have to look forward to soon. In keeping with Monster Hunter tradition, Iceborne is getting some crossover skins next month, and these are based on another big Capcom game: Resident Evil 2.

Beginning this November, players will be able to unlock costumes based on Resident Evil 2 protagonists Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield. That’s not all; it appears the Handler is also getting a new outfit that hilariously transforms her into Mr. X. You can watch the first trailer for the Resident Evil costumes below.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a proper Resident Evil crossover if zombies weren’t involved, and it appears zombified versions of hunters will also be added, although it’s unclear if these are separate outfits or if they’re an effect caused by certain monsters. Resident Evil 2’s infamous tofu Easter egg is also being added as a weapon accessory.

In the meantime, Iceborne’s first update rolls out for PS4 and Xbox One next week, on October 10. This patch will introduce the fearsome Rajang to the game, along with some other content. In December, PS4 players will receive an exclusive Event Quest that adds armor inspired by Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds.

We awarded the new Monster Hunter World expansion a 9/10 in our Iceborne review. “Monster Hunter World: Iceborne is at its best when you’re fighting tooth and nail against something that you know could crush you within its teeth in a second, even though this might feel like it came at the expense of a more interesting narrative,” critic Ginny Woo wrote.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Confirmed As Rockstar’s Google Stadia Game

Rockstar Games has been confirmed as a Google Stadia developer for months, but in all that time the company hasn’t announced which games it’s bringing to the platform. That changed today with the announcement of Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC, and paired with the announcement was word that it will be a launch title on Stadia.

The secrecy makes sense, as Stadia essentially runs PC games off of a server and feeds the video to users at home through the cloud. Confirming Red Dead 2 for Stadia would have been confirming it for PC as well. There may still be other Rockstar games slated for the service, but at the very least we know enough for it to have been on the Stadia developer list.

Stadia launches in November and will have Red Dead Redemption 2 upon launch, so it’s not known at this point if you’ll have any option to pre-order. Other platforms offer their own suite of pre-order bonuses, especially through Rockstar’s own games launcher. That launcher can get you two free games, a bunch of in-game items, and more. For more details check out our Red Dead Redemption 2 PC pre-order guide. A Steam version isn’t coming until December and pre-order bonuses have not been detailed.

The advantage of Stadia is that it allows players to have the high-end visuals, which Rockstar says have been enhanced for the PC release, without paying for a powerful gaming PC. That will all rely on the technology working as advertised, though, and proving itself on that is one of its major obstacles to overcome.
