Pokemon Masters: Everything You Need To Know To Get Started

Pokemon Masters is officially out for iOS and Android, allowing you to team up with a variety of legendary trainers, gym leaders, and champions in a brand-new region. Though the basics of the Pokemon series are still there–such as battles and evolutions–a lot of Masters plays very differently from a traditional Pokemon game.

To get you started, we’ve compiled all of the basics of what you need to know to understand how Masters works. The game has you visit a brand-new region where you’re partnered with Pikachu. Plenty of other notable trainers and their Pokemon from all over the world have traveled to the region as well, giving you the opportunity to befriend and team-up with them as you all journey together.

Sync Pairs And Their Stories

In Masters, you don’t catch new Pokemon, you recruit sync pairs to your team–and, oh boy are there a lot to recruit. Each pair consists of a legendary trainer, gym leader, or champion and their partner Pokemon. Each pair has their own unique story too, which typically plays out by evolving the partner Pokemon but can also be unlocked by just playing with the pair. Unlocking these pairs is usually random, though you can drop some cash to get the ones you want.

Sync pairs grow stronger as they win battles and gain experience. The number of stars next to the trainer’s name determines the max level they can reach. For example, most of the sync pairs you’ll encounter early on will have three stars and have a max level of 30. The main exception is Rosa and Snivy, who are a five-star sync pair, and one of the best set of partners you can have on your team for the early game thanks to their powerful “Time to Energize” sync attack. You can increase the star number of any sync pair up to five through the use of Power-Up items. At five stars, the level cap is 40.

Once you’ve earned your first PML Leader badge, you’ll unlock the ability to increase that level cap even further. Maxing out a sync pair requires them to have five stars and be level 100.

Fundamentals Of Battling

In Masters, Pokemon battles are three-on-three tag battles between six sync pairs. You’ll have to balance your team as best you can to account for every battle, defeating all of your opponent team’s Pokemon before they beat you. If you need assistance, clicking “Optimize” while selecting your team will cause the game to automatically assign the three best sync pairs for the job. Hitting Auto Mode during a fight will cause your sync pairs to keep fighting for you if you happen to be distracted by real-world things and become idle in-game.

Every sync pair has its own HP, Attack, Defense, Special Attack, Special Defense, and Speed stats. The first five all work as they did in previous Pokemon games. A sync pair’s HP determines how much damage the Pokemon can take before fainting. Attack determines how much damage the Pokemon in a sync pair can deal out with physical moves, while the Defense stat determines their resistance to physical moves. Special Attack and Special Defense are the same but for special moves.

Fundamentally, Speed works the same as it always has by determining the order of when each Pokemon can attack. However, Masters is not a turn-based RPG like traditional Pokemon games. Instead, battles occur in real-time and each Pokemon move has a cool-down rate tied to a gauge. Thus, a sync pair’s Speed stat determines how quickly the partner Pokemon can recharge its moves and attack again.

It may not sound like too big of a change for the Speed stat, but Masters departure from turn-based battles makes the stat more important than it’s ever been. It’s definitely something to keep in mind as you make it further into the game and unlock more powerful moves that require longer cool-downs.

Elemental And Class Typing

Each sync pair is assigned one or two type strengths and one type weakness. So don’t just assume a fire-type Pokemon will automatically be effective against all grass, ice, bug, and steel Pokemon. It will only be strong against one or two of those types. Same goes for weaknesses. Instead of being weak to ground, rock, and water, a fire-type Pokemon will only be weak to one. These strengths and weaknesses change depending on the sync pair, so, for example, not all fire-type Pokemon will have the same strengths and weaknesses.

Not only does each pair have an elemental type, but they also have class typing too. Every sync pair fits into one of three classes: strike, support, or tech. Strike pairs have high Attack and Special Attack stats, but lower HP. Support pairs are the exact opposite, and usually learn HP-restoring attacks and status-boosting moves. Tech pairs typically lack high damage dealing moves and instead excel at learning attacks that inflict status conditions, like paralysis and poison, on the opponent’s Pokemon.

When forming your team, class typing is definitely something to keep in mind. Even if your elemental typing ensures you have an advantage over your opponent, you may want to switch one of your sync pairs out for another if they’re all in the same class. A team consisting of all tech pairs, for instance, potentially won’t be able to deal out enough damage to take advantage of their elemental dominance.

Upgrading Your Move Gauge

Every sync pair starts out with only two moves, with one typically usable by the trainer and the other by their partner Pokemon. Only Pokemon moves deplete the move gauge that allows you to attack. However, trainer moves can only be used a certain number of times each battle.

You can learn more moves, however, for an initial cap of four. You unlock new moves through Training Machines, or TMs for short. Not to be confused by Technical Machines, or TMs, of course–the item that’s been used to learn new moves since Pokemon’s first generation of games. Why would that be confusing? Anyway, to teach a sync pair its third move, it will require five TMs. The fourth move (and any passive abilities that the sync pair can learn) will require rarer items in a much greater quantity–a quantity that increases with every additional move after the fourth. The items change depending on the pair.

Unlike traditional Pokemon games, though, you’re not limited to a maximum of four moves forever. For 30,000 coins, you can unlock another slot. You can unlock another for 100,000. So before unlocking moves for a sync pair beyond their fourth, it may be worth investing some coin so that you don’t have to forget anything.

Leveling Up

Like previous Pokemon games, you can level up by just battling. However, there are special battles you can complete and training you can undergo to level up faster.

Early in the story, you’ll unlock the training areas. There are four: level up, strike, support, and tech. As the name of the first area implies, heading into this training ground will help a sync pair gain extra experience and level up faster. The latter three allow you to earn items that assist sync pairs in learning new moves and passive skills without the use of TMs. All four training areas can be completed multiple times. You should do them as often as you can too since sync pairs will level up and grow stronger faster as a result. And once they’re strong enough, you can send your sync pairs into the supercourses.

Supercourses And Rare Items

The supercourses are the more difficult but more rewarding variations of the training areas. You progressively unlock more difficult and rewarding supercourses with each one you complete. However, each supercourse can only be completed three times a day so you need to consider which pairs need the power-up boost more.

Although rare items can be found or bought, you typically won’t run into them until a good deal into Masters’ campaign. Until you reach that point, the supercourses are the easiest way to unlock them. Your team will need to be very strong to take on the higher-level supercourses, but it’s there that you can unlock valuable items like Ultra Buff Blend. In contrast, 50 Great Buff Blends are needed to buy an Ultra Buff Blend from the in-game shop–something that’s far easier to do but will take you a lot longer to acquire.

Co-Op Play

If you open your Poryphone, you can find your personal ID that allows you to become friends with other players and battle together. In co-op, battles play out the same way but you’re only a third of a team and thus need to communicate with your fellow humans.

“Even in person, co-op play isn’t easy; I was surprised at how close some of the battles ended up, even on the easier of the two difficulties available,” Kallie wrote in GameSpot’s Pokemon Masters preview. “There’s also a special ‘unity attack’ you can unlock if you chain enough attacks as a team without taking damage, which takes a bit of coordination or luck to execute.”

Evolving The Pokemon Within Your Sync Pairs

Both evolving Pokemon and unlocking their Mega Evolutions are accomplished very differently in Masters in comparison to the simple hurdles in previous games. It honestly has way too many steps, and only certain Pokemon can evolve. We know the Pokemon listed below can evolve and Mega Evolve, but we’re still testing the game. Given Rosa and Snivy’s usefulness in the early game, getting Snivy to evolve into Servine might be where you want to start.

Sync Pairs With Pokemon That Can Evolve In Pokemon Masters

  • Barry and Piplup (evolves into Prinplup and then Empoleon)
  • Kris and Totodile (evolves into Croconaw and then Feraligatr)
  • Lyra and Chikorita (evolves into Bayleef and Meganium)
  • Pryce and Seel (evolves into Dewgong)
  • Rosa and Snivy (evolves into Servine and then Serperior)
  • Viola and Surskit (evolves into Masquerain)

Sync Pairs With Pokemon That Can Mega Evolve In Pokemon Masters

  • Agatha and Gengar
  • Blue and Pidgeot
  • Bugsy and Beedrill
  • Karen and Houndoom
  • Korrina and Lucario
  • Noland and Pinsir

Daily Missions And Special Events

Every day, new daily missions will unlock in Masters–one of which is always just turning on and logging into the game. The daily counter resets at 11 PM PT / 2 AM ET / 7 AM BST / 4 PM AEDT, so you have until then to complete your missions for the day. Completing your daily missions allows you to earn in-game items. Masters also just has general missions that can be completed at any time, though these count more as achievements/trophies than ways to earn in-game items and rewards.

Once you complete chapter five in Masters’ story, you’ll be able to participate in the in-game limited-time events. These events will be built with different sync pairs in mind, so it’s best to be on the lookout for which event is next so you know which pairs to focus on in preparation for them. Completing the challenges in these events will net you limited-time rewards.

Ubisoft Explains Why It Doesn’t Release Games On Steam

Recently, Ubisoft’s Chris Early spoke out against Valve’s PC digital store, Steam, saying its business model is “unrealistic.” He added, “It doesn’t reflect where the world is today in terms of game distribution.” Now, Ubisoft has further clarified its position on the matter.

A spokesperson for Ubisoft told GameSpot that the publisher elected to release The Division 2 on the Epic Games Store instead of Steam because Epic’s distribution model is, in the long-term, more beneficial to publishers.

“It was a business decision to not put new releases on Steam and focus on the Epic Store and Ubisoft Store,” the spokesperson said. “Ubisoft fully supports Epic and their third-party distribution model, which is in the long-term, beneficial for publishers both large and indie and the video games industry. We hope this partnership helps to validate and evolve the model.”

Early’s comments and this statement are likely connected to the revenue split that Epic offers relative to Steam. Typically, Steam typically keeps 30 percent of game sales, with 70 percent going to publishers. By contrast, the Epic Games Store offers much more to the people who make games; on the Epic Games Store, 88 percent of revenue goes back to developers.

Looking ahead, one of Ubisoft’s next big releases, Ghost Recon: Breakpoint, will also skip Steam in favor of launching for the Epic Games Store and Ubisoft’s own Uplay.

The Uplay part of this story is important, too. Uplay is Ubisoft’s own store, so removing Steam from the equation helps drive sales on it. For The Division 2, Ubisoft saw Uplay sales of that game grow tenfold over The Division 1.

It remains to be seen if Ubisoft will ever release another new title on Steam, but for the foreseeable future it seems the company has no intention to.

For what it’s worth, Epic has stated it will change its policy of chasing exclusives if Valve reduces the cut it takes from game sales on Steam.

100 Thieves Won’t Compete In Call Of Duty World League, And Here’s Why

One of the biggest and most prominent eSports organizations–100 Thieves–will not have a team competing in the Call of Duty World League scheduled to begin in 2020.

In a video statement, 100 Thieves founder Matthew “Nadeshot” Haag said the decision basically came down to money. Activision charges a reported $25 million per team, and this fee was just too high for 100 Thieves, which is still operating as a start-up company with only around 30 people on staff (in addition to its paid competitors).

“Activision has decided to franchise, and obviously there are a lot of costs that come with that,” Nadeshot said. “The CDL is incredibly expensive. It’s so expensive.”

There are upfront costs related to joining the league, as well as operational costs that 100 Thieves would have to bear for “years,” Nadeshot said.

“We are just not equipped and not prepared to make that jump and to make that decision to be all-in,” he said.

Joining the Call of Duty League and putting up the money and resources is “a risk we can’t take right now,” Nadeshot said.

“We’re a start-up. We’re still a new company,” he said. “To make a financial commitment as large as this isn’t possible for us right now.”

Not only that, but because the Call of Duty World League is city-based–like the Overwatch League–100 Thieves would need to plant itself in one particular place, and it isn’t ready to do that. Nadeshot said 100 Thieves is a global brand that doesn’t want to be tied to one particular location.

Nadeshot and the other leaders of 100 Thieves debated this decision for “so long,” he said, but ultimately they decided to pass.

“It’s just a shi**y situation, man; there’s no other way to put it,” he said.

100 Thieves not competing at Call of Duty World League is a big loss for the competitive Call of Duty scene. The 100 Thieves team won twice in the Call of Duty majors competitive circuit in 2019 and came in second during August’s Call of Duty World Championship.

As ESPN reminds us, eight of the nine current members of the Call of Duty World League are financially backed by the same extremely rich groups that own Overwatch League teams.

“For those buyers, the $25 million expenditure is a way of doubling down on Activision Blizzard and trust in that company’s CEO, Bobby Kotick,” ESPN said. “If you’re Los Angeles Rams owner Stan Kroenke, Minnesota Vikings chairman Zygi Wilf or the New York Mets’ Wilpon family, $25 million is a drop in the bucket. But if you’re 100 Thieves, that’s a huge investment–one that could make or break your startup in the future–and it’s arguable if the reward outweighs the risk.”

The next Call of Duty game is the Modern Warfare reboot which launches in October for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Free Steam Game Available Now–But Only For A Short Time

It’s been a great week for deals, from Labor Day sales to free games and multiple free-to-play events available to take advantage of. Now Humble Bundle is throwing its hat into a ring with a solid deal of its own: For a short time, you can claim racing game Dirt Rally for free just by signing up for Humble’s newsletter. As long as you redeem the game before the expiration date, it’ll be yours to keep and play forever. The deal ends Sunday at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET, so there’s not much time to claim the offer.

After you sign up for Humble’s newsletter, you’ll be able to play Dirt Rally via Steam for Windows, Mac, and Linux. That means you’ll need a free Steam account to redeem the game code.

Claim Dirt Rally free at Humble Bundle

Dirt Rally first released in 2015 on Windows PC and released on PS4 and Xbox One the following year. The intense racing game features over 70 international stages, from Colorado’s Pikes Peak to snowy Sweden and the muddy roads of Wales. In Dirt Rally, you can compete in both single-player and multiplayer races, with the ability to upgrade your vehicle, hire and train your own crew, and more. The game earned a solid 8/10 in GameSpot’s Dirt Rally review for its excellent physics, variety of vehicles from different eras, and overall great visuals, although critic Richard Wakeling took issue with its career mode progression and lack of tutorials.

“The Dark Souls of driving games is a term I’ve seen in certain corners of the internet, and the comparison couldn’t be more apt. Like with From Software’s seminal RPG, Codemasters’ latest is uncompromisingly difficult while also rewarding those who are willing to master its intricate mechanics and, perhaps most importantly, show a little dare,” wrote Wakeling.

“Dirt Rally’s mechanics are so robust, and so accomplished in their execution, that it’s difficult to care about a lack of polish in its presentation, or a couple of skimpy game modes. This is as authentic a portrayal of rally as you’re likely to find, and proves to be not just a return to form for Codemasters, but its best game to date.”

One Of Destiny 2’s Best, Toughest-To-Get Guns Is About To Be Much More Attainable

If you’ve been chasing the Mountaintop grenade launcher, one of Destiny 2‘s toughest-to-get weapons, good news: the grind is about to get a whole lot easier. Bungie’s next patch will greatly reduce the difficulty of the quest to unlock the Mountaintop, which should mean that one of the best guns in the game will be available to a lot more players by the release of Shadowkeep.

For those unfamiliar, the Mountaintop is one of Destiny 2’s “Pinnacle Weapons,” which are high-quality guns that were released at various points during the last year of Destiny 2. Pinnacle weapons are tied to specific activities and often require a whole lot of work (and skill) to unlock. If you have a gun like the Mountaintop, the Wendigo GL, Hush, Luna’s Howl, or Oxygen SR3, you’re broadcasting that you put in some serious work to get it. Often, these guns become a big part of Destiny 2’s meta game for top-tier players.

The Mountaintop is a powerful grenade launcher that you can only earn in Destiny’s PvP arena, the Crucible. It’s one of the most powerful guns in the game, which makes it great for taking down bosses in raids. But it’s also one of the toughest guns to get because it requires playing a ton of Crucible matches. While you’re there, you need to earn some 200 grenade launcher double-kills–which is no easy task–and 100 Calculated Trajectory medals, in which you earn three grenade launcher kills without dying. You also need to grind up to the Fabled rank in the Glory playlist. That’s Crucible’s more hardcore Competitive playlist, where your rank is penalized when you lose.

No Caption Provided

According to a post from Bungie on Reddit, requirements for Mountaintop are about to drop significantly with a patch slated for release on Tuesday, September 2. Instead of 200 double kills, after the patch, you’ll only need 75. The requirement for medals is also getting cut, from 100 down to just 25. You’ll also earn those numbers more quickly if you play harder modes: in the Quickplay mode, a grenade launcher kill or double kill will count once, but in Iron Banner you’ll get credit for two, and in the Competitive playlist, you’ll get credit for three.

Old Mountaintop Requirements:

  • Reach Glory rank Fabled in the Crucible
  • Earn 750 grenade launcher kills in the Crucible
  • Earn 200 grenade launcher double kills in the Crucible
  • Earn 100 Calculated Trajectory medals in the Crucible

New Mountaintop Requirements

  • Reach Glory rank Fabled in the Crucible
  • Earn 750 grenade launcher kills in the Crucible
  • Earn 75 grenade launcher double kills in the Crucible
  • Earn 25 Calculated Trajectory medals in the Crucible
    • Quickplay Playlist offers 1x progress; Iron Banner offers 2x progress; Competitive Playlist offers 3x progress

The grind is also getting slashed for another Pinnacle weapon: Wendigo GL. That’s a grenade launcher you unlock in the Strike playlist, and which also requires a whole lot of grinding. After the patch, grenade launcher kills will count twice as much for the Wendigo GL quest steps that require them, progress made in Strikes will count more, and multi-kills will count 1.5 times more.

All of this should be good news for players who’ve been struggling to grab Pinnacle grenade launchers, although it’s a bit of a bummer for players who already completed the struggles to unlock Mountaintop and Wendigo. It does seem possible that players who struggled to earn Mountaintop the hard way could get something special, though. Bungie recently gave out two special cosmetic emblems to players who fought in the Crucible during two major Destiny 2 moments, when Exotic weapons Lord of Wolves and Prometheus Lens dominated matches. Both guns were nerfed soon after, but Bungie released the emblems to commemorate the unintended events.

There’s also one last bit of good news: Bungie isn’t nerfing the grenade launchers alongside making them easier to obtain, as some players had feared.

Check out the rest of our coverage of what’s coming in Shadowkeep–including the fact it’ll get a new Fortnite-like Season Pass.

GameStop Just Relaunched Its Website–Here’s What’s New

GameStop has officially re-launched its website. The retailer’s new site promises to provide a “modern digital shopping experience” that aims to be “engaging, easier, and faster to use.”

In a press release, GameStop acknowledged that its legacy website became “increasingly difficult” to use and this was feedback it heard from users. You can check out the new website now and see all the changes for yourself.

GameStop’s chief merchandising officer, Chris Homeister (who joined the company back in June), said in a statement that the re-launch of the new GameStop website is just the beginning. The company aims to “continue to build and improve” it over time.

The aim of the new GameStop website is not only to refresh its look but also to improve its functionality. The search function has been improved, helping shoppers find products and complete purchases faster.

An overview of GameStop’s website updates

  • A more streamlined experience for buying or reserving online pickup at your local store, now available for multiple items rather than just one
  • Apple Pay enabled for laptop or mobile purchases
  • More visibility for trade-in values (including advanced trade credits) across the site, such as product pages and search result pages
  • Integration of PowerUp Rewards program with the web, allowing customers to enroll online
  • More prominent visuals to help shoppers discover games, accessories, apparel, and collectibles

This new update to the GameStop website is part of the retailer’s wider “multi-year, multi-million” dollar strategy to improve its business plan overall. GameStop has seen better days–its stock price is close to an all-time low, and it recently announced a big round of 120 layoffs that also included members of Game Informer.

Labor Day deals

As of way of introducing customers to its new website layout, GameStop will launch a one-day-only sale at midnight on Monday, Sept. 2, which is Labor Day for those in the US and Canada. Some popular products that once lived on ThinkGeek’s website (which shut down earlier this summer) are included, like the Poke Ball waffle maker and Thor’s hammer toolbox. Predator: Hunting Grounds Is At Its Best When Playing As The Movie Monster

Compared to other slasher villains like Jason Voorhees or Michael Meyers, the Predator has a particularly unique way of making its victims feel out of their depth, and this is exactly what Friday The 13th developer Illfonic wants to bring to Predator: Hunting Grounds. It’s another asymmetrical multiplayer game, but also very different from the team’s previous game. In Hunting Grounds, a heavily-armed squad of four players has to complete a covert mission in a remote jungle full of hostile forces, while another player takes on the role of the iconic alien hunter–their goal is to make sure the squad doesn’t make it out alive. Revealed earlier this year, GameSpot went hands-on with an early build of the game and learned how the parallel co-op and competitive mechanics work.

Compared to Illfonic’s Friday The 13th, Hunting Grounds leans closer to action-horror than just a standard slasher, and you’re far more capable of defending yourself than a group of camp counselors in the face of their movie monster. At its core, Hunting Grounds is an asymmetrical multiplayer game that hinges on the blend of co-op and competitive gameplay, pitting two drastically different sides against one another.

“There’s something out there waiting for us, and it ain’t no man. We’re all gonna die.”

When playing as the mercenaries, you’ll face off against hostile AI in the jungle while completing objectives, such as securing intel or destroying enemy equipment. While the mercs are doing their mission, which has a randomized set of goals for each match, the lone alien hunter stalks the humans from the trees above, waiting to strike and collect its bounty of skulls. It sticks very closely to the original Schwarzenegger movie, complete with cheesy one-liners and references. There’s even a cassette tape titled “Ain’t Got Time 2 Bleed”, which blasts music in the chopper that takes the crew to their mission.

Just like Friday the 13th, Hunting Groups wears its admiration for the source material on its sleeve. According to Illfonic CEO Charles Brungardt, Hunting Grounds was intended to be an evolution of the asynchronous multiplayer mechanics from their work on the previous game.

“He’s killing us one at a time.”

“We were just finishing up Friday The 13th, and we were kind of looking at what our next project could be,” he said. “One of the guys threw out ‘Predator’ during a meeting, and immediately we all knew the type of game it would be. It just came together from there. We knew walking into this game that there were going to be a lot of challenges here–especially with the two different styles. There’s a lot of work that had to go into it, but we were able to get it up quickly and begin playtesting it early. We still have a while to go, but the feedback we’ve gotten daily and the excitement we’ve seen has made it fun to work on and improve.”

We played as both the human characters and the Predator, which showed off two distinct playstyles. Gameplay as the soldiers is akin to a standard military FPS. But for the Predator, it goes for full stealth-action in the vein of Assassin’s Creed or Sekiro. You can select from one of four classes when playing as the mercenaries, which includes assault, CQB (close-quarters combat), scout, and sharpshooter. Each archetype features its own unique loadout, which can be upgraded and customized after ranking them up. Working together, you’ll ensure that you can complete all the necessary objectives, cut down the opposing forces, and make it back to the chopper alive. But while you’re engaging in your goals and wiping out hostiles, the lone rival player will actively be surveying the scene, waiting for their chance to strike.

“If it bleeds, we can kill it.”

The experience of playing as the mercs can feel a bit nervewracking. As you’re taking out enemies and completing objectives, you’re constantly looking over your shoulder and into the trees looming above. On the inverse of that, however, playing as the Predator can offer up some surprisingly amusing moments. Moving to a third-person perspective, you have a greater sense of control and awareness of your surroundings, which can open up the potential for playing mind-games with your prey. Possessing its familiar set of gadgets, including a wrist-blade, cloaking device, thermal-vision, and the fan-favorite Plasmacaster, you’re well-armed and can easily stand up to whatever is on the field. When the time is right, you can go in for the kill against weakened mercenaries. Getting a successful kill will award the Predator with a skull, which he’ll place on his belt.

If wounded, the Predator will bleed glowing green blood, which the mercenary players can track. The hunter is very resilient, but it can still be taken out if enemy players coordinate and strike at the right moments. Just like in the film, the Predator is a sore loser and can activate a mini-nuke to cover up its failure. If players aren’t able to reach the dying hunter in time to exact a killing blow, then they’ll have to escape from the blast zone, or else suffer a posthumous defeat at the hands of the Predator.

I appreciated how different the game was on both sides, but I can’t deny that–unsurprisingly–the game felt at its best when playing as the Predator. While the mechanics of the human characters were serviceable, it often felt a bit mundane. This was especially evident when facing off against disposable hostiles that lack cohesion, made worse by strange spawn points and dull AI. The best moments I had were when I came crashing in as the Predator, interrupting the rival players from finishing their mission.

“You got time to duck?”

I can’t deny that–unsurprisingly–the game felt at its best when playing as the Predator.

My hands-on with Predator: Hunting Grounds was from an early build, but I came away pretty intrigued by how it went about going fleshing out the original conceit of the film. Over the years, the Predator has mostly been attached to the Alien vs. Predator series. So it’s especially refreshing to see the character be the central focus of its own thing, and I had so much fun getting the jump on my prey when they least expected it.

Fortnite: Where To Search Between Basement Film Camera, Snowy Stone Head, And Gold Big Rig Guide

We’re in Week 5 of Fortnite Season 10, and this week’s set of challenges is called Blockbuster–a throwback to Season 4 of the battle royale game. As usual, most of the challenges are fairly self-explanatory, but there are a couple that’ll require you to go to specific locations, like the mission to search between a basement film camera, a snowy stone head, and a flashy gold big rig. If none of that made any sense to you, don’t worry–we’ve put together a guide showing you exactly where to go.

Where Are The Basement Film Camera, Snowy Stone Head, And Gold Big Rig Located?

This challenge has you searching for a Battle Star that’s hidden at the midpoint between three different objects, but you won’t have any idea of where to go unless you know where those objects are located. Fortunately, they’re all fairly close together and should be easy enough to spot. The gold big rig is parked between Shifty Shafts and Tilted Town; the film camera is found inside a house that’s northeast of Shifty Shafts; and the snowy stone head is sitting on a hill near the frozen waterfall.

Xbox One Games With Gold, September 2019: Don’t Miss These Free Games

The Xbox One‘s Games With Gold for next month have been revealed, and if you’re a fan of silently–or not so silently–assassinating rich, powerful, and evil targets, then you’re in luck. Hitman leads September’s Games With Gold, and Xbox Live Gold subscribers have all month to claim it.

Hitman: The Complete First Season is available September 1 until September 30 and includes every map and mission from, you guessed it, the first season. It’s a game of stealth and assassination, where you can disguise yourself as almost anyone in the level and make your way towards your target. Of course, that’s not always how it plays out, as being detected could cause mass hysteria, forcing you to hide or take out any witness to your crime. However, if you already own Hitman 2, then there’s still a bonus to claiming Hitman 1. Owning the first game gives you access to revamped versions in Hitman 2. Hitman received an 8 out of 10 and was called “a brilliant game” in GameSpot’s review.

We Were Here hits Games With Gold on September 16 through October 15 and is the first in a series of narrative, co-op puzzle games. You play a character that’s been split up from their partner–controlled by a friend–inside of an abandoned mansion. You have to work together to solve puzzles and escape.

September’s Xbox 360 Games With Gold offerings start with Earth Defense Force 2025 from September 1 to September 15. The Earth Defense Force is a cult favourite and features intense, third-person shooter battles with giant insects. Earth Defense Force 2025’s review wasn’t as glowing as the others in this article. While critic Carolyn Petit found the large-scale destruction and alien slaughter enjoyable, she found the shallow gameplay didn’t stay fresh for long.

The free 360 games continue with Tekken Tag Tournament 2 from September 16 to September 30. Tekken Tag Tournament 2 is the sequel to the beloved PS2 launch title and focuses on two-on-two tag battles. In Tekken Tag Tournament 2’s review, critic Maxwell McGee scored it an 8.5 and described it as “a challenging fighter that rewards speed and ferocity in those willing to make the commitment.”

All Xbox 360 Games With Gold are backward-compatible, so you’ll be able to play both of the aforementioned games on your Xbox One.
