Fun fact: The phrase is believed to date back to 1979, the two-year anniversary of the original Star Wars hitting theaters, and incidentally the same day Margaret Thatcher officially took office as Prime Minister of the UK. To celebrate the dual occasion, the British Conservative Party published an ad in the paper that day declaring, “May the Fourth Be With You, Maggie. Congratulations.”
