The Last Of Us Part 2 Will Have “Much Wider Environments,” Says Director

Considering The Last of Us Part II will be split between two discs, game director Neil Druckmann has spoken a little bit more about the graphical fidelity Naughty Dog is hoping to achieve when the post-apocalyptic sequel arrives in February 2020.

In an interview with the PlayStation blog, Druckmann confirmed that TLOU2 will have “much wider environments” thanks to the PlayStation 4’s power. Druckmann compared TLOU2 to both The Last of Us and previous Uncharted games–like Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy–in order to hammer home just how much more “tense” the sequel is.

“As you saw with Uncharted 4 and The Lost Legacy, we’re experimenting with much larger layouts,” Druckmann said. “We’re going to do that with [The Last of Us Part II], and find ways to use that to mirror the story.”

Druckmann admitted that The Last of Us hit the limits of the PlayStation 3’s computational power when it launched toward the tail-end of that console generation, and it seems TLOU2 will do the same. “Now we’re able to have much wider environments, sequences with a horde of infected, several squads of enemies looking for you in big spaces.”

Druckmann previously said that TLOU2 is Naughty Dog’s longest game to date, so it remains to be seen just how much power the studio is able to squeeze out of the PS4 with the PlayStation 5 looming on the horizon. The Last of Us Part II is scheduled to launch exclusively for PlayStation 4 on February 21, 2020. Though unconfirmed, SIE CEO and president Jim Ryan has said that Sony’s big first-party titles could appear on PS5 when it launches holiday 2020.

Fortnite: Where To Collect Visitor Recordings In Moisty Palms And Greasy Grove (Season 10 Overtime)

We’re inching closer to the end of Fortnite Season 10, and a new Out of Time challenge is available to complete in Epic’s hit battle royale game. This one also has you tracking down audio logs left by the Visitor–the mysterious time-traveling character who first appeared back in Season 4 and returned to the game this season.

While the Visitor’s motives are unclear, these recordings give a bit of insight into what he’s up to and help set the stage for this weekend’s big world-changing event. This time, you’ll need to collect Visitor recordings in Moisty Palms and Greasy Grove. If you need help tracking those down, we’ve put together this guide showing you where the recordings are located.

Where Are The Visitor Recording Locations?

As the challenge states, there are two recordings to find: one in Moisty Palms, the other in Greasy Grove. These recordings look like cassette tapes and are fairly small, so they’ll likely be hard to spot if you don’t already know where to look. The one in Moisty Palms is atop a tall, white brick hotel in the northwestern corner of the area, while the recording in Greasy Grove can be found in one of the booths inside the taco restaurant.

How To Complete The Challenge

Once you know where the recordings are hidden, simply head to the right locations and pick them up as you would any other item in the game. Collect both and the challenge will be completed, earning you more season XP.

There are still a few Out of Time challenges awaiting before Season 10 ends, so these likely aren’t the last recordings you’ll need to find. Be sure to also check out our guide on where to find the Visitor recordings on the floating island and in Retail Row. And if you need hep completing any other challenges from earlier in the season, head over to our full Fortnite Season 10 challenges roundup.

Red Dead Redemption 2’s PC Version Adds All This New Story Mode Content

Rockstar is launching Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC in November, and now the company has announced some of the extra content that’s being added to the story mode. In short, there is a lot of new content coming to the PC version, which might be good news for PC players who had to wait a long time to play Rockstar’s celebrated open-world western on PC.

The new content includes new bounty hunter missions, more gang hideouts, and new treasure maps. Rockstar is also adding more weapons, including the Evans Repeater and High Roller Revolver that were previously only available in Red Dead Online. There are also more trinkets to collect that give players special bonuses like permanent increases for health bar refill speed and horse bonding experience. There is also a brand-new mission, “To The Ends of the Earth,” that players can complete to earn a “range of rewards.”

It appears Rockstar might be yet again commenting on politics with one of the bounty hunter missions. One of the missions involves finding a bad guy named “Bart Cavanaugh” and either taking him dead or alive. The name Bart Cavanaugh sure sounds like a lot like Brett Kavanaugh, the embattled United States Supreme Court justice.

Below you can see a rundown of all of the new content coming to Red Dead Redemption 2’s PC version (as written by Rockstar). It’s unclear at this point if some or all of this content will ever come to the game’s PlayStation 4 and Xbox One editions.

Blizzard Ban Critics Now Include Epic, Senator Marco Rubio, And Blizzard Employees

Following an incident in which Blizzard banned a professional Hearthstone player for expressing solidarity with Hong Kong protests, the company faced sharp criticism from fans. The controversy has only grown since then, and now the company’s critics include competing game companies, sitting US Senators, and even some employees of the company itself.

Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) tweeted a criticism of the move, saying China is “using access to market as leverage to crush free speech globally.” Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) had even sharper words, saying that Blizzard is “willing to humiliate itself to please the Chinese Communist Party. No American company should censor calls for freedom to make a quick buck.”

Meanwhile, the incident has proven a PR misstep as well, giving an opportunity for competing developers to suggest they wouldn’t make the same mistake. Epic issued a statement stressing its support for players to speak their mind.

“Epic supports everyone’s right to express their views on politics and human rights,” the company told The Verge. “We wouldn’t ban or punish a Fortnite player or content creator for speaking on these topics.”

Workers at Epic aren’t the only ones dissatisfied with the move, though. It appears that Blizzard has conscientious dissenters in its own company. Plaques outside the company’s headquarters expressing the values “Think Globally” and “Every Voice Matters” have been covered with paper. Rock Paper Shotgun reports that some employees gathered for an umbrella protest in solidarity with the Hong Kong protesters.

The situation began when the professional player Ng Wai Chung aka “Blitzchung” showed his support for Hong Kong protests during a post-match interview. Blizzard banned Chung from competitive events for one year and rescinded his $10,000 in winnings, citing a rule against any action that “brings you into public disrepute, offends a portion or group of the public, or otherwise damages Blizzard’s image.” The Hearthstone subreddit quickly populated with several threads full of players saying they had or planned to quit playing the game. A boycottblizzard hashtag also trended on Twitter.

Chung himself told AFP the unrest in his home city sometimes distracted him from the competition, and he has no regrets about speaking out.

“I sacrificed time hanging out with my friends and studying because of this competition. Even though it seemed that I had wasted four years of time, I have something more important in my heart–if we lose the movement, Hong Kong will end forever.”

BlizzCon 2019 is beginning on November 1, where Blizzard may need to address this controversy in person.

Pokemon Sword & Shield Officially Reveal Galarian Ponyta

Last week’s 24-hour Pokemon Sword and Shield livestream gave us our first look at what many assumed was a Galarian form of Ponyta. The Pokemon Company has now made it official and shared some more details about the newly discovered Pokemon.

Whereas the recently revealed Sirfetch’d is exclusive to Pokemon Sword, Galarian Ponyta can only be found in Pokemon Shield. Unlike a standard Ponyta, it has a sparkling purple mane and a small horn on its head, much like a unicorn. It’s also a Psychic-type, rather than Fairy as previously assumed.

According to the Pokemon Sword and Shield website, “Galarian Ponyta have been found in a certain forest of the Galar region since ancient times. It is said that they were exposed to the overflowing life energy of the forest over many generations, and this is why their appearance became unique in this region.”

Galarian Ponyta has two possible Abilities. The first is Run Away, which guarantees you’ll be able to flee wild battles. The second is a new Ability called Pastel Veil; this prevents Galarian Ponyta and its ally in a double battle from becoming poisoned. If an ally is already poisoned when Galarian Ponyta enters the field, it will automatically cure that Pokemon of its status ailment.

Pokemon Sword and Shield launch for Nintendo Switch on November 15. You can take a look at all the new Gen 8 Pokemon revealed so far in our gallery. For more details on where you can reserve a copy of the games and what pre-order bonuses you can get, be sure to check out our Pokemon Sword and Shield pre-order guide.
