Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order Photo Mode Coming This Week, Here’s How It Works

Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order is getting a Photo Mode. The new feature is coming to the PS4, Xbox One, and PC game in the newest patch scheduled for December 11.

The Photo Mode is enabled through the game settings, and players can snap photos by pressing LS and RS on Xbox or L3 and R3 on PlayStation at the same time. The game will then pause, and players can utilize a number of different settings to take the nicest photo possible. You can rotate the camera, adjust the height, zoom in, and tilt. Some of the other things you can adjust are focal distance and exposure, while you can pretty-up your photos with things like a film grain filter and chromatic aberration.

The Fallen Order Photo Mode also allows players to hide the player, the UI, and the AI, while players can also place spotlights to accentuate certain elements. Take a look at the video below from EA’s Ben Walke to see the new Photo Mode in action and find out how it works.

In our Jedi Fallen Order review, we said, “Especially as it wears on, Fallen Order becomes perhaps the strongest conception of what playing as a Jedi Knight ought to really be like. Even with some rough edges, Fallen Order represents one of the most compelling game additions to the Star Wars franchise in years.”

Resident Evil 3 Remake: Release Date, Trailer, Pre-Order Details, And More

Resident Evil 3 is real. After a bout of rumors and leaks, the Resident Evil 3 remake was officially announced during Sony’s final State of Play presentation of 2019. The game is, obviously, a remake of Capcom’s Resident Evil 3: Nemesis from 1999, and it’s coming packaged with another game too–which producers Masachika Kawata and Peter Fabiano spoke more about following the trailer reveal.

Resident Evil fans probably had a few questions about the Nemesis remake answered after watching that first reveal trailer, but if you’re not sure what to expect or you’re new to the Resident Evil series, stay with us!

We’ve collected all the information we have about the RE3 remake and its companion game Resident Evil Resistance, including platforms, release date, gameplay details, information on story and characters, and more. We’ll continue to update this story as we find out more.

Resident Evil 2 was one of our Best Games of 2019–read our thoughts on why we loved Resident Evil 2 and what makes it more than just a remake.

Announcement and Reveal Trailer

Rumors of a Resident Evil 3 remake began in early December 2019, with cover art appearing on the PlayStation Store. Since the leak occurred prior to The Game Awards, some speculated that an official announcement would be coming then.

Instead, Resident Evil 3 was announced during Sony’s State of Play presentation on December 10, 2019. Despite the rumors, it was a bit of a surprise reveal–the announcer introduced the trailer as the “unannounced campaign portion of Capcom’s Project Resistance.” Project Resistance is Capcom’s 1v4 asymmetrical multiplayer survival horror unveiled at Tokyo Game Show 2019, but with no ties to Resident Evil 3 at the time. Well, surprise–Resistance is coming packaged with RE3.

The Resident Evil 3 reveal trailer gave us an intense first-person POV sequence of a character fleeing from the series’ iconic tyrant, Nemesis. That character was eventually revealed to be Jill Valentine, one of the last remaining S.T.A.R.S. members still in Raccoon City during the deadly zombie outbreak, which players last experienced in the Resident Evil 2 remake. (Despite the brief first-person part of the trailer, Resident Evil 3 will continue in the vein of the Resident Evil 2 remake with its over-the-shoulder third-person action.)

Resident Evil fans may also be pleased (or not) to see some returning characters from the original RE3: Nemesis in the rest of the trailer. If you’ve never played the original and you’re confused about the chronology of the series and how Nemesis fits next to the Resident Evil 2 remake, scroll down to the Story and Characters section. Or stay away if you want to go in blind!

Release Date

The first reveal trailer for Resident Evil 3 also gave us a release date of April 3, 2020 for PlayStation 4, though just like previous Resident Evil games, you will also be able to get it on PC and Xbox One. Check out our Resident Evil 3 pre-order guide for details.

Platforms

As stated above, Resident Evil 3 will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam.

PC Specs

Resident Evil 3 is coming to PC, but we’re not sure what the system requirements are just yet. We’ll update you as soon as we find out!

Pre-Order and Special Editions

You can pre-order Resident Evil 3 now–if you pre-order before its April 3, 2020 release date, you’ll get an exclusive Classic Costume Pack which includes Jill Valentine’s original RE3 outfit and Carlos Oliveira’s original hairstyle.

Resident Evil 3 Collector’s Edition, which comes with a Jill statue, a hardcover artbook, and more.

Base game pre-orders are $60 USD at major retailers. North American fans can grab the limited GameStop-exclusive Resident Evil 3 Collector’s Edition for $180, which comes with a physical copy of RE3 for PS4 or Xbox One, an 11″ statuette of Jill Valentine, a hardcover collector’s artbook, a double-sided Raccoon City map poster, and a digital RE3 soundtrack. The Jill figure is the same scale as the Leon statuette from the Resident Evil 2 Collector’s Edition. It’s also limited, so if you want one, you should pre-order the RE3 Collector’s Edition as soon as it goes live.

Head to our Resident Evil 3 pre-order guide for more details and links.

Multiplayer (Resident Evil Resistance)

Resident Evil 3 will have a multiplayer mode, which (as it turns out) is actually Resident Evil Resistance, the 1v4 asymmetric multiplayer game revealed at Tokyo Game Show 2019. Capcom originally lead fans to believe Project Resistance was a standalone Resident Evil spin-off, but it will come with Resident Evil 3.

In the RE3 reveal, its producers refer to Resident Evil Resistance as “an asymmetrical battle between 4 survivors and 1 mastermind,” where the mastermind can control creatures and set traps and the survivors must try to escape.

Story and Characters

According to the producers, Resident Evil 3 “leans more towards action” compared to the Resident Evil 2 remake. It’s set right before and then eventually simultaneous to the events of Resident Evil 2. You control Jill Valentine, one of the last remaining members of S.T.A.R.S. still in Raccoon City. S.T.A.R.S. is a specialized branch of the Raccoon City Police Department which received quite the shake-up during the events of the first Resident Evil game (both the original and the remake)–after the Mansion incident, Jill stayed behind in Raccoon City to continue investigating Umbrella. Not only does she get caught in the middle of the t-Virus outbreak, but she will also be pursued by RE3’s iconic Nemesis tyrant, designed especially to eliminate the remaining S.T.A.R.S. officers before they can whistleblow on Umbrella’s activities.

Mr. X was perhaps one of the most popular elements from the Resident Evil 2 remake (he was in the original game too, but only the “B” scenario) and it turns out Capcom probably has some more surprises in store for us with Nemesis too. According to RE3’s producers, Nemesis will have “more ways than Tyrant from Resident Evil 2 to track down his target Jill Valentine.” Nemesis is definitely an entirely different beast than Mr. X, but considering some of the liberties Capcom has taken with these remakes/reboots, who knows what new horrors they’re referring to?

Other returning characters, based on the reveal trailer, include Umbrella Biohazard Countermeasure Service mercenaries Carlos Oliveira, Mikhail Viktor, and Nikolai Zinoviev, though only Carlos was pointed out by name in a video by the producers following the initial reveal. S.T.A.R.S. Alpha Team member Brad Vickers also makes a brief appearance in the reveal trailer.

RedBox No Longer Renting Games, Purchases To End Soon

The kiosk rental service Redbox is no longer renting video games, and will cease sales of used games at the end of the year. The company announced that it is “permanently transitioning out of the games business” and will now exclusively rent movies.

The company confirmed the move on Twitter after Reddit users noticed their local kiosks were no longer offering game rentals. In a statement to The Verge, the company said you’ll be able to buy games through the kiosks through the end of the year. That effectively ends physical game rentals for many users, since other businesses like Blockbuster have largely closed their doors.

Like Redbox’s movie service, it rented games for a daily rate and allowed users to keep games for as long as they wanted. This meant that if you could speed through quickly enough, it was an inexpensive way to try a lot of games.

Purchases through physical kiosk locations is only available through the end of the year, but online purchases appear to be available through early 2020. That likely means however long into the new year it takes for the company to clear out the stock sold through its site, which is currently offering a holiday sale.

Destiny 2: A Matter Of Time Quest Steps — How To Unlock The Sundial

The Sundial is the major new activity in Destiny 2‘s newly launched Season of Dawn. Much like the Vex Offensive, Bungie expects you to spend the next few months with this replayable activity to grind out new weapons and rewards. But before you can do so, you’ll need to make your way through a quest–A Matter of Time–in order to gain access. Here’s what to expect from each quest step to unlock the Sundial–and, by extension, this season’s artifact, which is given to you following your first Sundial run.

While it’s the big headlining feature of Season of Dawn, there’s a lot more to check out in Destiny 2 right now. Along with a revamped Eververse, Bungie has implemented changes across the board. Solar subclasses, Exotics, and numerous weapons and pieces of armor have been tweaked in various ways, while the Power cap has been raised by 10. We’re still digging into the new update, but for now, check out the update 2.7.0 patch notes.

A Matter of Time Quest Steps

A Disturbance on Mercury

  • Osiris located

For this step, select Mercury from the Director and you’ll see a new Sundial Spire option near the top of the map. Head there and proceed straight up the stairs, past the enemies, to speak with Osiris.

Recovery Operation

  • Sundial components recovered

To begin repairing the first obelisk, you’ll head to the Tangled Shore. The obelisk is located right next to the Thieves’ Landing landing zone, but you’ll instead want to head up to Soriks’s Cut, where you’ll find Cabal. You’ll need to kill Cabal to obtain Sundial components for this quest step. Any Cabal will do, but you can speed up your progress by using Solar weapons or abilities, which can cause Cabal to drop multiple materials at a time.

Reinforcements

  • Bank materials at the obelisk

Head to Thieves’ Landing and interact with the Obelisk to deposit the Sundial components you’ve collected.

Light Collection

  • Light charge collected

Next, you’ll need to collect Light by killing enemies with abilities or Supers, or by collecting Orbs of Light. Your best bet is to seek out upcoming public events on the Tangled Shore so you can rally to the banner and obtain your Super instantly. Masterwork weapons will also drop Orbs of Light to help speed along your progress.

Light Infusion

  • Bank the Light

Again, just head to the obelisk and deposit the Light you’ve collected.

Timeline Stabilization

The obelisk is now “attuned.” You can visit it to get some instructions on the basics of how the Sundial activity works in relation to the obelisks. The obelisk itself now functions like a vendor, offering up bounties–with more available if you cash in Polarized Fractalines to increase the Resonance Rank of the obelisk.

A Missing Link

As part of the explanation of the obelisks, you’re told that you can “link” an obelisk to the Sundial, thereby determining what rewards you’ll receive upon completion of a Sundial run. You can only have a limited number of obelisks linked at a time, so you’ll need to make some decisions about what items you want before jumping into the Sundial.

Visit Osiris

With the first obelisk set up, you now head back to Mercury to speak with Osiris again. He’ll grant you access to the Sundial.

The Sundial

With Osiris giving you the go-ahead, you’ll now find the Sundial playlist on Mercury’s map–it’s in the upper right. The recommended Power is 850, and as with things like the Menagerie and Vex Offensive, it’s a six-player activity with matchmaking enabled.

Overwatch Winter Wonderland Event Begins

Overwatch has rung in the holiday season with its annual Winter Wonderland event on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. The event will run from December 10 through January 2, and includes a new game mode, new cosmetics and skins, and weekly challenges.

The new mode is a mini-game dubbed “Snowball Deathmatch.” It’s an eight-player free-for-all where everyone plays as Mei with a snowball gun, but there’s a twist. Mei gets a new “Catch” ability allowing her to catch enemy snowballs and add it to her own ammo count. The first player to score 15 eliminations wins.

The event will also feature seven new skins–four Legendary that can be opened in loot boxes, and three Epic that can be earned through weekly challenges. The Epic skins include Ugly Sweater Soldier 76 (Week 1), Holly Moira (Week 2), and Snow Angel Mercy (Week 3). Legendaries include Jotunn Doomfist, Mountain Man McCree, Rat King Reaper, and Rime Sigma. Plus, as usual, you can earn a collection of new player icons and sprays.

The event comes alongside a significant new patch. That update adds a new “While You Wait” feature that lets you pick from various options to toy with as you wait to find a match. You could use a practice range, skirmish, play a little deathmatch, or even enter a custom game mode. It also includes a number of bug fixes and hero balance updates, which you can read about here.

First Resident Evil 3 Remake Trailers Revealed

It’s official: Capcom is releasing a remake of Resident Evil 3 next year. Sony confirmed the news during today’s State of Play stream, where it unveiled the first footage of the rumored remake and announced its release date: April 3, 2020.

The announcement trailer, which you can watch below, gives us our first glimpse at this reimagined version of the classic horror game. The video showcases protagonist Jill Valentine’s new look as she runs through a burning building from antagonist Nemesis. Much like this year’s critically acclaimed Resident Evil 2, the Resident Evil 3 remake forgoes the fixed camera angles of the original for a third-person, over-the-shoulder viewpoint.

Following the reveal, Capcom released a second Resident Evil 3 remake trailer, this one featuring commentary from producers Masachika Kawata and Peter Fabiano. The developers give an overview of the game and showcase some more gameplay footage. The trailer also provides a new look at the asymmetrical multiplayer experience Resident Evil Resistance, which is being included in the Resident Evil 3 remake. You can watch that trailer below.

The Resident Evil 3 remake is coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam. Those who pre-order the title ahead of its release date will receive the exclusive Classic Costume Pack, which features the original design for Jill Valentine and hairstyle for Carlos Oliveira, as a bonus. Axiom Verge 2 Announced

During the latest Indie World Showcase, Nintendo announced that Axiom Verge is getting a sequel. Axiom Verge 2 is scheduled to release sometime in Fall 2020.

The announcement only confirmed Axiom Verge 2 would be releasing for Nintendo Switch, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that the game won’t release on several of the same platforms as its predecessor–such as PC, PS4, and Xbox One. It’s probably unlikely Axiom Verge 2 will release on PS Vita and Wii U, the other two systems that saw releases of the first game.

Axiom Verge is a side-scroller metroidvania that also takes gameplay inspiration from games like Contra, Blaster Master, and Bionic Commando. The game was entirely developed by Tom Happ, who also did the art and music for the game–an undertaking we’ve learned can be emotionally and mentally taxing. Nintendo’s announcement did not reveal whether Happ is the sole developer behind Axiom Verge 2 as well.

In GameSpot’s Axiom Verge review, Peter Brown wrote, “Axiom Verge is a game that’s easy to fall in love with because it hits so many high notes. It takes the metroidvania model and adds layers of ingenuity that are in a league all of their own, the most notable being the Address Disruptor. Yes it’s occasionally drab looking, and some enemies may not fit in with the rest of the world, but when a game is this good, these blemishes quickly fade into the back of your mind.”

Axiom Verge 2 wasn’t the only sequel announced during the Indie World Showcase. Nintendo also revealed the Switch exclusive Golf Story is getting a sequel called Sports Story.

The Talos Principle Is Coming To Switch Today

During the recent Nintendo Indie World Showcase, it was announced that the mind-bending narrative puzzle game, The Talos Principle, is coming to the Nintendo Switch later today. First released in 2014, the game puts players in the role of an android who has human-like sentience. While exploring a labyrinth full of different puzzles and other oddities, the protagonist will learn more about the mounting struggles as it comes to grips with its curiosity about life.

Given its balance of focusing on puzzle-solving and storytelling, The Talos Principle is a solid pick for the Switch library. It’s very much an intimate experience, and with the Switch’s portability and accessibility, it makes it seem like diving into a good book. This release will be the complete edition of The Talos Principle, which includes the DLC Road to Gehenna, which acts as a sort of epilogue to the main story.

In GameSpot’s review of The Talos Principle, former editor Jeremy Signor stated: “The Talos Principle is an absolute joy to play, packed to the gills with expertly designed puzzles and enough ancillary content to make any history of philosophy buff salivate. But all of that is almost beside the point in the face of the game’s thematic ambitions. It may seem like you’re alone in this world, but you’re really not, and that’s the greatest triumph of The Talos Principle: It serves as a fantastic representation of the human condition, complete with curiosity, speculation, wonder, fear, and a yearning to know the unknowable. But most importantly, it nails the role that isolation plays in the human condition. Because of all we don’t know, because of how seemingly out of control we all are in the cosmic sense, we feel alone. But, in reality, we’re alone together.”

Along with The Talos Principle, other games like Sports Story, a new character for Streets of Rage 4, and SuperSmash were revealed during the indie showcase.
