Fallout 76 Update 16 Coming For PC, PS4, Xbox One; Full Patch Notes Revealed

Fallout 76 is undergoing server maintenance for its huge Update 16, which is coming to PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One today. The patch, under 3GB on PC and approximately 8GB on consoles, introduces a variety of changes and tweaks to the online-RPG. These include providing more map choices for Nuclear Winter, implementing a true solo mode for Private Worlds, and more.

Update 16 features new maps for Fallout 76’s battle royale mode, Nuclear Winter. The Forest map is returning alongside Morgantown, giving you more options for where to do battle. Further, the new patch provides you the option of map selection, letting you choose where the battle takes place before the start of each match.

Another option provided by Update 16 is a dedicated solo mode for Private Worlds. There are two means to play Private World servers now. “Team Only” lets you join a private server with an already-formed team or by yourself. “All Friends” works like Private Worlds now and it gives your friends the ability to jump into the server you’re on.

Elsewhere, Update 16 also addresses a plethora of bugs and aims to stabilize performance. These include fixing issues with the Pip-Boy, preventing corpses from disappearing shortly after death, changing how you use jetpacks, implementing “multiple improvements for server performance,” and more.

Check out the full patch notes for Fallout 76’s Update 16 below.

      • While the Holiday Scorched event mentioned above is active, Santatron will also occasionally find a Holiday Gift of random quality.
      • Any items Santatron finds will be placed into the container attached to its Station, and you can collect them from there.
      • Players who also own a Scavenger Collectron Station can switch their Santatron to hunt for the items the Scavenger bot normally finds, and vice versa. However, only one type of Collectron Station can be built at any given time.

Challenges

  • In response to community feedback, we have revisited many of our existing Challenges in order to make them more player-friendly and remove others that had too many requirements.
    • We have also updated our Daily and Weekly Challenges so they are more straightforward, simpler to complete, and to help them feel like they are part of the core experience of the game.
    • These changes will take effect starting January 1, 2020.

Sound

  • Music:
    • New Holiday tunes have been added that will play while you browse the Atomic Shop.

User Interface

  • Private Worlds: Following community feedback, we have added a new button to Private Worlds mode on the Play Screen so that Private World owners have more choice in how friends can join their World.

      • It is no longer possible to transfer items into a dead enemy’s inventory. The button can be toggled between “Team Only” and “All Friends.”

    • All Friends:
      • Switching to “All Friends” will allow any players on the Private World owner’s friends list to enter the Private World.

Nuclear Winter Updates

  • Vote for Your Map of Choice
    • After receiving requests from Overseer Candidates who would like more choice in map selection, we have added the Flatwoods map back to Nuclear Winter and Candidates can now vote for the map they want to play on during the upcoming match.
    • Map voting begins at the start of each match while Candidates are in Vault 51.
    • Once voting starts, you can press the Map button to open the new voting interface and make your choice.
      • Your vote cannot be changed after it has been cast.
      • The map that receives the majority of Candidates’ votes will be selected for that match. In the event of a tie, ZAX will choose the Map randomly.

Happy Holidays, Candidates!

  • Halloween-themed challenges Are Back
    • It’s the Nightmare Preceding Christmas and our Halloween-themed Nuclear Winter challenges are making a comeback for a limited time.

  • We’ve added six new Challenges and themed cosmetic rewards for the holiday season that will begin appearing in the Character Challenge menu next week.
    • One new challenge will appear each day until all six are available. However, before you can begin earning progress toward any given Challenge, you must first complete the Challenges preceding it in order.

    • Christmas Challenge Dates:
      • Start Date: Tuesday, December 17 at 7 PM ET
      • End Date: Monday, January 6 at 7 PM ET

A More Festive Vault

  • Even ZAX is getting into the spirit of the season, and has adorned Vault 51 with holiday decorations for Candidates to enjoy before they engage in the merciless Overseer selection process.

Matchmaking

  • We’ve updated Nuclear Winter so that the Storm will now automatically constrict the starting area to account for the number of players that begin a match .
    • When this occurs, the Storm will not deal increased damage at the start of the match, even though the playable area is smaller.
    • This will help encourage combat from the beginning of a match and reduce time spent hunting for other Candidates. It will also make for a quicker match overall, so that you can requeue to find a better match.
    • We made these changes so that players can spend more time on the battlefield, less time in the matchmaking queue, and get to the fun more quickly in cases where creating a full match may take longer than expected.

Sound

  • Deployment Selection:
    • A sound effect will now play to notify Candidates that Deployment Selection has begun.
  • Emotes:
    • Inside Vault 51, Emote music and sound effects will become quieter or stop playing the farther a Candidate moves away from someone who uses an Emote.
  • Overseer Tickets:
    • New sound effects have been added that will play when earning or spending Overseer Tickets in Nuclear Winter.

User Interface

Kingdom Hearts 3 Re:Mind DLC Price, Release Date, Pre-Order Editions

Kingdom Hearts fans won’t have to wait much longer to learn exactly what happened to Sora following the events of Kingdom Hearts 3. Thanks to a new trailer dropped during the latest PlayStation State of Play stream, we now know Kingdom Hearts 3: Re:Mind arrives on PlayStation 4 on January 23, 2020. Xbox One users will have to wait until until February to get their hands on the DLC.

Re:Mind follows Sora’s search for Kairi, which brings him to the Keyblade Graveyard. Re:Mind will see the return of Final Fantasy characters such as Leon, Aerith, and Yuffie, who will help Riku, Aqua, and the rest of the gang in their pursuit of Sora.

The trailer ties back to Kingdom Hearts 3’s secret epilogue at the end, as the mysterious Yozora walks towards Sora just before the game’s title appears on screen.

Here’s the official description of the DLC: “Re:Mind – the other tale that unfolded during the climax of Kingdom Hearts 3. Determined to rescue Kairi, Sora travels to the Keyblade Graveyard a short time before the final battle was to take place. Lacking a corporeal form, he traces the hearts of the seven guardians of light. Through experiencing their personal battles firsthand, Sora is about to discover truths that he has never before imagined.”

Kingdom Hearts 3 released this past January to critical acclaim. The game earned a great 8/10 in our Kingdom Hearts 3 review, with GameSpot’s Tamoor Hussain praising the exciting combat and wonderful Disney worlds and characters. Unsurprisingly, Kingdom Hearts 3’s story created more questions than answers. The overarching tale of Keyblade Wars and the collision of worlds and various timelines was every bit as confusing as you’d expect with a Kingdom Hearts game.

Re:Mind has a chance to fill in the holes and provide a satisfying conclusion to the saga. That said, it probably won’t be simple and clean (sorry). Now that we know when Re:Mind releases, let’s take a look at the two editions that will be up for pre-order shortly.

  • Premium menu

Pre-order Kingdom Hearts 3: Re:Mind DLC + Concert Video

  • New Keyblade form changes

You Can Now Try GOG Galaxy 2.0, Which Solves One Of PC Gaming’s Big Problems

After a few months of invitation-only testing, digital store GOG has now launched an open beta for GOG Galaxy 2.0, which aims to solve one of PC gaming’s biggest problems. The brand-new game client is more than just a way to download and launch games purchased on GOG.com, as it also introduces a way to import all of your game libraries, friends lists, and achievements from loads of different store clients so you can access it all in one place.

GOG Galaxy 2.0 lets you link accounts from GOG, Steam, Epic Games Store, Uplay, and even Xbox Live and PlayStation Network, with the latter two serving as ways to organise your console libraries and view your friends lists. You can manually add games from outside of these stores, too, and there are also user-made plugins supporting more stores and emulated console games. GOG Galaxy still requires you to have each of these clients installed if you want to make full use of them, so it doesn’t quite remove all of the clutter associated with having so many clients on one PC, but it’s a handy way of consolidating all of your game libraries and friends lists in a single place. It’s entirely optional as well if you still prefer to download and play GOG games as standalone DRM-free installers.

You can head over to the GOG Galaxy website if you want to test out the open beta for yourself.

Resident Evil 3 Pre-Orders Available: Collector’s Edition, Pre-Order Bonus, Release Date

Resident Evil 2 was one of the biggest hits of 2019, and now it seems Capcom is aiming to recreate some of that success by bringing another classic Resident Evil game to modern audiences. In Sony’s December 2019 State of Play livestream, the company announced a Resident Evil 3 remake is coming to PS4 on April 3, 2020. The game will also be available on Xbox One and Steam.

The new trailer shows protagonist Jill Valentine running through a building from a first-person perspective, fleeing a powerful creature known as Nemesis. However, a Capcom blog post confirms the game will have the same over-the-shoulder third-person perspective as Resident Evil 2 rather than first-person scares in the vein of Resident Evil 7.

Cover art for Resident Evil 3 leaked ahead of the State of Play stream, displaying Jill, her partner Carlos Oliveira, and the monstrous Nemesis looming above them.

The State of Play also confirmed Resident Evil 3 will come bundled with Resident Evil Resistance, an asymmetrical 4 vs. 1 online co-op game in which one player controls the Mastermind, setting traps and hunting down a group of Survivors as the other players race against the clock to escape.

Resident Evil 3 pre-order bonuses

If you pre-order Resident Evil 3 ahead of its April release date, you’ll receive an exclusive Classic Costume Pack that includes Jill’s original outfit and Carlos’ original hairstyle.

Pre-order Resident Evil 3 standard edition

The standard edition of Resident Evil 3 will come with the base game, Resident Evil Resistance, and any pre-order bonuses. Best Buy is the first retailer to open up pre-orders, but more stores will begin offering pre-orders later today.

Fans in North America will be able to snag the Resident Evil 3 Collector’s edition, which will be sold exclusively at GameStop. The Collector’s edition includes a physical copy of Resident Evil 3, Resident Evil Resistance, any pre-order bonuses, a Jill Valentine statuette (similar to the Leon figure offered for Resident Evil 2), a hardcover art book, a double-sided poster featuring a map of Raccoon City, and a digital Resident Evil 3 soundtrack. It will retail for $180 USD at GameStop. The listing isn’t live yet, but we’ll include the link here as soon as we spot it online.

Untitled Goose Game Spreading Mischief To PS4 Next Week

Untitled Goose Game debuted on PC and Nintendo Switch, but we recently got indication it would be expanding to PS4 and Xbox One before the end of the year. That was confirmed during Sony’s State of Play, with a PS4 release date announcement of December 17.

Developer House House hasn’t detailed yet if that same release date applies to the Xbox One version.

The news was announced with a short trailer featuring the meme-favorite goose stealing the groundskeeper’s keys from the first stage and chucking it in the water alongside other gathered treasures. Why would a goose do such a thing, you ask? Because geese are horrible monsters, the game answers.

House House had previously stated interest in bringing the game to other platforms, including PS4 and Xbox One, and possibly even mobile devices. The game’s release on Switch and PC led to a flurry of fandom for the comedy game, which you can now immortalize with Goose merch.

“The important thing is that Untitled Goose Game is a hoot,” James O’Connor wrote in GameSpot’s review. “It’s a comedy game that focuses on making the act of playing it funny, rather than simply being a game that features jokes. Wishing that it was longer speaks to how much fun I had with it. There’s nothing else quite like Untitled Goose Game; it’s charming and cute despite being mean, and both very silly and very clever. It’s also probably the best non-racing game ever to feature a dedicated ‘honk’ button.”

Resident Evil 3 Remake Release Date Set, Includes RE Resistance

The oft-rumoured and leaked Resident Evil 3 Remake has been confirmed as part of PlayStation’s final State of Play of 2019. It’s coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Steam on April 3, 2020.

Much like the highly successful remake of Resident Evil 2 released earlier this year, Resident Evil 3 modernizes the third entry in the long-running survival horror series, ditching the fixed camera angles and swinging the third-person viewpoint over protagonist Jill Valentine’s shoulder. The announcement trailer (which you can watch below) shows the iconic heroine running through a burning building with antagonist Nemesis in pursuit, while the rest of the trailer focuses on the story and characters.

Resident Evil 3 is set amidst the outbreak of the T-virus in Racoon City, and takes place in the hours leading up to and following the events of Resident Evil 2. The game stood apart from its predecessors when it was originally released in 1999 by introducing the titular Nemesis–a towering humanoid bioweapon that stalks you through much of the game, hissing “STARRRRRRSSSSS….” as he pounding footsteps follow hot on your heels. The horrific setting and new content are brought to life with the RE Engine that previously powered Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, Resident Evil 2, and Devil May Cry 5, which promises to modernize Resident Evil 3’s gameplay mechanics.

Somewhat surprisingly, Resident Evil 3 also comes packaged with the cooperative multiplayer game Resident Evil Resistance, an asymmetrical four vs. one survival game that was originally revealed as Project Resistance during the Tokyo Game Show earlier this year. Four survivors must work together, making use of a variety of weapons and each player’s unique abilities, to stand a chance of escaping an experiment that’s controlled by another player assuming the role of the Mastermind. The Mastermind can manipulate the environment and wields a deck of cards that allow them to place traps and deadly creatures, and even directly control elite bioweapons like G-Birkin and Tyrant.

Those who pre-order Resident Evil 3 ahead of its April 3, 2020 release will receive the exclusive Classic Costume Pack that features the original design for Jill Valentine and hairstyle for Carlos Oliveira.

PS4 Creation Game Dreams Has A Release Date

The creation game Dreams is coming to PlayStation 4 next year, and as announced on Sony’s last State of Play of 2019, it has a very sweet release date. The game will release on February 14, aka Valentine’s Day.

Dreams has been available in early access since earlier this year, marking an early beta that has allowed Media Molecule to introduce new creation tools while also cultivating a small community of creators. Dreams’ tools are extremely flexible, which is why the trailers for the game always look like it’s for a few dozen different games.

Dreams was first announced in 2013, so it’s been a long time coming for next year’s release. It’s incredibly ambitious, and Media Molecule hopes it will be used as a platform that grows beyond its own scope.

Media Molecule’s previous series, Little Big Planet, also had a flexible suite of creation tools, though it was mostly made to support platformers like the main campaign. Still, the creative minds of the player community pushed those tools to their limit, using the strings-and-pulleys to create complicated stages as well as out-of-the-box-thinking ideas like a functioning calculator.

New Ghost Of Tsushima Trailer Will Be Revealed At Game Awards

During the December 10 State of Play, PlayStation revealed the first few seconds of a new Ghost of Tsushima trailer that abruptly ended before getting to the good stuff. The final moments of the trailer said “to be continued” and PlayStation announced that the full trailer would be revealed at this year’s Game Awards, which are scheduled to begin on December 12.

In the snippet of the trailer that we did get–which begins at 25:48 in the State of Play stream that is embedded below–we see black smoke coming up through the branches of a beautiful forest. The camera angle then changes to focus on a group of Mongols traveling with a heavy-looking cart. Their leader stops upon seeing the outline of a person, which is revealed to be the main character of the game: the titular Ghost of Tsushima, Jin Sakai, who’s the last samurai of Japan.

The Mongol leader draws his sword and his men follow suit. Jin also unsheathes his weapon and points it towards the Mongols in challenge. The Mongols charge and Jin lowers his sword and prepares a firecracker which he throws into the ground to (presumably) escape detection. We don’t know for sure because that’s where the trailer cuts out.

Ghost of Tsushima takes place on the titular island in 1274, during the first Mongol invasion of Japan. As the last samurai, Jin realizes he has to abandon his culture’s way of fighting with honor if he is to have any hope in pushing back the invading army. In order to succeed, he’ll have to adopt the way of the Ghost and fight with trickery, stealth, and misdirection. Given this storyline, Ghost of Tsushima could be a fictional origin of how the way of the samurai gave birth to the way of the ninja, but developer Sucker Punch has not revealed whether that is the case.

Babylon’s Fall Gets New Gameplay Trailer During State Of Play 2019

After more than a year of silence, developer Platinum Games has provided a minor update on its upcoming action game, Babylon’s Fall. While no release date has been revealed, the studio confirmed more information will arrive next summer, as well as giving a first-look at some gameplay.

Babylon’s Fall is an action-adventure game by Platinum Games, the studio best known for titles like the Bayonetta franchise, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, and the Nintendo Switch-exclusive Astral Chain. The developer showed some gameplay during Sony’s final State of Play for the year, which you can watch below.

The first and only time we saw Babylon’s Fall was during E3 2018, where Platinum Games announced the title during Square Enix’s presentation. The teaser video didn’t show any gameplay, but it did provide insight into the game’s lore. Babylon’s Fall is expected to launch on PC and PlayStation 4 at some unspecified date.

In other Platinum Games news, a Bayonetta and Vanquish bundle is headed to PS4 and Xbox One on February 18. The package, which leaked via a Microsoft store listing, will include remasters of the two titles. The games will run at 4K / 6FPS on PS4 Pro and Xbox One X, and you can pre-order the $40 set now.

PUBG Added A New Circle In Circle Feature To Deter Camping

In an effort to combat campers, developer PUBG Corporation implemented an experimental solution over the weekend. The studio added a second circle to PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds to get campers to move a little.

According to a blog post, PUBG Corporation added a second Blue Zone to the battle royale game from December 5-8. This second circle, found in the experimental Bluehole Mode, had two functions: to inform you where the next safe zone is and to damage campers who “land, loot, and camp in the circle for the rest of the match.” Just as you would steadily take damage from outside the circle, those who crossed through and/or sat in the second circle would see their life deplete as well.

No Caption Provided

As aforementioned, though, it was only added for the weekend to PUBG Labs, the experimental test server where the studio tries out new features. It’s unclear if or when it will return as a permanent inclusion to the PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds experience.

In other PUBG news, the developer launched its huge 5.1 update on PC. The patch introduced Season 5, a new batch of adjustments that tweaked the balance of Miramar, implemented a new Survivor Pass, added throwable mechanics, and more. There’s no word on when this update will hit PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Speaking of consoles, PUBG Corporation added cross-play support for PS4 and Xbox One in October. This new feature was part of the 4.3 update, which brought with it a few other additions and changes as well. These include a new pump-action shotgun, more season rewards, customization of player IDs, and more.
