The League Of Legends Louis Vuitton Collection Is Outside Our Price Range

Louis Vuitton has unveiled the LVxLoL Collection, made up of 34 items inspired by League of Legends. These clothing items, which pulls elements of the game’s aesthetic into the world of high fashion, retail at extremely high prices–not unusual for Louis Vuitton, but higher than you might be used to for gaming apparel.

Some are quite subtle in their gaming links–this $345 diamond bracelet will only be identifiable as a game tribute by people in the know–while others, like this $670 t-shirt, are more transparently based on the game. On the cheaper end of the scale, a monogram bandeau will set you back $170; on the other hand, you could spend $5650 on a biker jacket. The bumbag pictured below costs $2400.

December has been a big month for League of Legends developer Riot Games, with the announcement of Riot Forge and a move into publishing. We also found out now long ago that they’re working on a fighting game and shooter. It hasn’t all been good news, though, with the studio also recently settling a sexual discrimination lawsuit, following a 2018 report by Kotaku on the studio’s culture of sexism.

Axiom Verge 2: Switch Was A “Natural” Fit, Dev Can’t Talk About Other Platforms Yet

Axiom Verge 2 was announced this week as part of Nintendo’s Nindies showcase, and it’ll be exclusive to the Switch at launch. The first Axiom Verge is available widely, releasing first on PlayStation 4 before making its way to PC, PS Vita, Wii U, Xbox One, and Switch. It’s unclear whether the sequel will follow a similar verge, but developer Thomas Happ has talked to USGamer about launching on Switch, and given a few details about the game’s setting.

Asked about the game coming to Switch first, Happ says that the system “was kind of a natural platform to start with this time around. It seems as though every few years platforms shift in terms of popularity of indies and at the moment the Switch is really the best place for it.” The first game’s sales of the system have remained strong, while other platforms have dropped off. “It also helps that the Switch is the lowest spec of them all so I can be guaranteed that if I develop on Switch, the same thing will run elsewhere without making sacrifices,” he says.

That last statement suggests that the game will eventually come to other systems, but Happ can’t say anything specific yet. “I can’t really talk about where you’ll see Axiom Verge 2 other than the Switch. That said, it took several years before Axiom Verge reached every platform, and that worked out pretty well since each time I could devote all my energy to whatever platform it was currently releasing on.”

Axiom Verge is far from the only indie game to enjoy great success on the Switch. Indie-darling Celeste has been a huge success on the system, and 25% of all Shovel Knight sales are on Switch, to name just two examples.

Elsewhere in the interview, Happ elaborates on the game’s setting, saying that “depending on how you view things, Axiom Verge 2 is both in the future of Axiom Verge and in the past, but probably more of the latter.” He also hints at faster-than-light communication playing a part in the game’s narrative.

The original Axiom Verge scored an 8/10 in our review, and reviewer Peter Brown wrote that “Axiom Verge is a game that’s easy to fall in love with because it hits so many high notes.”

PUBG’s Final 2019 Update Adds Persistent Blood Splatter And Removes Purchasable Locked Crates

The latest patch for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, update 5.3, is now live on the game’s test server on PC. It’s the final patch for 2019, and although it’s not adding any new maps or weapons, it’s still an interesting one. The full patch notes outline every little change introduced, but the three most important additions are the new blood effect improvements, the removal of locked crates, and the new addition of cloud saves for your settings.

The blood effect changes mean that locations will now tell you more of a story about the fights that have erupted across them. Shots to the head or neck now have a more distinct visual effect, and blood impact effects on characters now better show off where they’ve been hit, but the most important change is that blood splatter will now show up on walls and floors. If a major battle happened in a building, you might walk in and find it coated in blood after this update.

Cloud saves for settings mean that you’ll easily be able to load up your settings if you switch to a different PC. Settings dependent on hardware can’t be saved, nor language settings, but you can bring most of your preferred settings over to another computer easily now.

Meanwhile, loot crates bought with BP will no longer have the possibility of being locked. This follows on from the developer’s promise to improve crate content, and random crate contents and percentages have been tweaked a bit. You have a 16% chance of getting a Wanderer, Survivor, Biker, Militia, or Raider Crate, a 17% chance of getting a Fall 2018 Crate, and just a 3% chance of a Venetian Crate.

PUBG is currently in season 5, and recently changed how its circle system works to deter camping. The rest of the 5.3 patch notes are below. It should be live on PC soon, and then for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One after that.

  • The current season of both the Survivor Pass and Survival Title System will end on January 14 PDT
    • Starting January 1st, there will be a countdown on the Survivor Pass lobby banner notifying players of the pass end date

Command And Conquer Remastered Features Re-Recorded Audio After EA Loses Tapes

Command & Conquer Remastered, which was first teased in 2018 and announced officially this year, will bring back the original Command & Conquer (as well as Red Alert) for a new audience. But the original game is almost 25 years old, and EA found that they did not have all the assets from the original title, meaning that some voice acting has been re-recorded by the original actor.

In the recording below, you can hear Kia Huntzinger returning to the role of EVA, the game’s announcer, explaining what’s happening during the match. Huntzinger is re-recording the dialog to match up to what players heard in the original game.

In a blog post on EA’s website, producer Jim Vessella has explained the approach to remastering the EVA recordings. “Kia has brought an authenticity to the project which just couldn’t be achieved in any other way,” he writes. “Kia wanted to do this for the fans and approached the recording full of passion and eagerness.” Frank Klepacki, the original game’s composer, recalls that Huntzinger–who worked in the Westwood Studios office–was brought in to record because he voice felt like a good fit. “She was excited to give it a shot, and the original voice session was recorded in a padded closet,” he recalls.

“Kia wanted to do this for the fans and approached the recording full of passion and eagerness,” Vessella writes. “We’re forever thankful to Kia for contributing to this remaster journey, and hope everyone in the C&C community will appreciate her performance.” The post also clarifies that Martin Alper’s performance as the “Announcer” in Red Alert will be maintained, as Alper has passed away and replacing him would not feel right.

The most recent Command & Conquer game was the mobile title Command & Conquer Rivals. EA has promised that Remastered, which does not have a release date yet, will not feature microtransactions.

Two Point Hospital Has A Release Date For Switch, PS4, And Xbox One

Two Point Hospital, which originally released for PC in 2018, will finally release on Switch, PS4, and Xbox One relatively soon. The game, which was originally scheduled to arrive in late 2019 before being delayed, will now arrive on February 25, 2020, letting console players get in on the hospital empire business. The game’s console release was originally announced in July of this year.

In Two Point Hospital, players have to build manage their own hospitals, while working out how to cure patients who present a series of mysterious, fictional ailments. You play the hospital manager, and it’s up to you to develop your hospitals into successful, profitable, effective enterprises. There are also ghosts to deal with, because Two Point Hospital is a comedy game first and foremost. The console version features a completely rebuilt control scheme.

Two Point Hospital is a spiritual successor to the classic Bullfrog title Theme Hospital, and was designed by some of the creators who worked on that game. It’s designed to evoke that title, while also introducing plenty of new ideas. The game features 119 unusual illnesses, and the console version will come with both expansions released for the PC game: “Bigfoot” and “Pebberley Island.” Console players will be able to explore 21 regions, and build hospitals for them.

The original PC version of Two Point Hospital received an 8/10 in our review. Reviewer James Swinbanks praised the game as an effective follow-up to an older classic. “The exaggerated, cartoon look and relaxed approach to management make it inviting enough for most players, while the deeper aspects of its economy are enough to keep seasoned players engaged. Two Point Hospital not only re-works an old formula into something modern and enjoyable, it also iterates on the classic brand of irresistible charm and wit, making something that’s truly wonderful.”

New Anthem Update Transforms The Game Into A Winter Wonderland; Full Patch Notes Listed

EA has announced a new update for Anthem, which also launches a brand-new winter-themed season called Icetide. The update adds several new pieces of content to Anthem, including environmental changes, world events, challenges, cosmetics, and ways to unlock legendary gear.

“Shaper devices have brought localized ice storms into Bastion, bringing excitement with every glittering snowflake across the region,” EA writes in the update’s full patch notes. “Ice is rare here, but when it arrives, people know that Icetide celebrations will soon follow. Holiday lights shine throughout Fort Tarsis, their bright colors sparkling on blankets of snow.”

Throughout Icetide, new seasonal strongholds will unlock each week–presenting ways of acquiring large amounts of crystals and unlocking Icetide’s seasonal in-game items. Icetide also adds new freeplay time trials, a legendary world event, challenges, cosmetic items, and collectibles.

If you’re hoping to expand your arsenal and unlock more legendary gear, the update makes it easier to do so. Completing daily and weekly challenges will now earn you guardian tokens, which can be offered in tribute at one of the Tombs of the Legionnaires to automatically get a random legendary item that has +5 gear score. The type of item you earn from each tomb is listed below. Additionally, in Grandmaster 3, all legendary loot drops will now begin with a +5 gear score.

New Tomb Of Legionnaires Offerings

  • Tomb of Artinia: Legendary Weapons
  • Tomb of Cariff: Legendary Gear
  • Tomb of Yvenia: Legendary Melee Weapons and Javelin-Specific Components
  • Tomb of Gawnes: Legendary Support Gear and Universal Components

The remainder of the update is bug fixes, with most geared towards improving Anthem’s overall stability. Some of the bug fixes are designed to better balance Anthem as well, such as a fix for the issue that was causing the Rainmaker to occasionally deal out damage almost 200% stronger than intended. If you were relying on certain bugs to help you overcome troublesome bosses, you may want to check the patch notes and see whether that option is still available to the build you’re using.

Halo: Master Chief Collection Release On PC Helps Set New Records

Halo: The Master Chief Collection started its rollout for PC last week with the release of Halo: Reach, and it was a very, very successful launch. The release achieved “monumental” results, Microsoft said in a press release, leading to “record numbers” for the game.

Almost 3 million people played The Master Chief Collection on PC and Xbox One during Reach’s launch week. Additionally, MCC reached the No. 1 position on Steam’s best-seller charts, which represents the highest position for an Xbox Game Studios title on Steam at launch.

MCC was also the most-watched game overall on Twitch on December 3, with viewers collectively watching almost 3 million hours of Halo content during launch week. Microsoft also noted that MCC has a “very positive” rating on Steam after more than 37,000 reviews.

While MCC has fallen out of Steam’s top-seller list, it continues to be popular among users. The game continues to rank inside the top 15 most popular games on Steam by player count.

The PC version of MCC currently only includes Reach. Halo: Combat Evolved will release in early 2020, with the remaining titles to follow thereafter in chronological order: Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, and finally Halo 4.

The Xbox One version of MCC already has all those games, with Reach being added on December 3.

Resident Evil 2 Remake Adds RE3 Tie-In Achievement

Capcom officially pulled back the curtain on its rumored Resident Evil 3 remake earlier this week as part of Sony’s final State of Play broadcast of 2019. The reimagined horror game is coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam next April, but in the meantime, it appears this year’s Resident Evil 2 remake is getting some kind of tie-in that bridges the gap between the two titles.

Users on Steam have recently discovered that a new Achievement was added to Resident Evil 2 (via Wario64). The Achievement was first spotted a few weeks ago–well before Sony’s State of Play stream–but it didn’t have a name at the time, leaving many to wonder just what it could be.

As it turns out, it appears the Achievement will tie into the upcoming Resident Evil 3 remake. The Achievement is called Chasing Jill and can be unlocked after you read a letter left behind by Jill Valentine. It’s unclear when the letter will actually be added to the game, but you can see the Achievement for yourself on Steam.

Much like the Resident Evil 2 remake, the reimagined version of Resident Evil 3 makes some drastic improvements to the original. Not only have the visuals been significantly revamped, but the game forgoes the fixed camera angles of the original for a third-person over-the-shoulder viewpoint. You can watch the first Resident Evil 3 remake trailers here. The game also includes the asymmetric multiplayer experience Resident Evil Resistance.

The Resident Evil 3 remake launches on April 3, 2020. Those who pre-order the title ahead of its release will receive the bonus Classic Costume Pack, which features the original design for Jill Valentine and hairstyle for Carlos Oliveira. Capcom is also releasing a $180 Collector’s edition of the game that includes a handful of physical bonuses, such as a Jill Valentine statue and hardcover art book. You can read more in our Resident Evil 3 pre-order guide and our roundup of everything we know about Resident Evil 3 so far.

Forza Horizon 4 Getting “Eliminator” Battle Royale Mode

Forza Horizon 4 is getting a new multiplayer mode that borrows from the battle royale genre. The free update will add a mode called “Eliminator” in which 72 players race to stay within the closing play area and be left the last one driving. It’s coming as part of the Series 17 update tomorrow, December 12.

The new mode will take place in an arena set in Britain. You can eliminate other players in head-to-head races to earn upgrades and faster cars, and the arena will slowly contract to force players closer together. It all ends with a final race to determine the ultimate winner. The trailer (below) shows off the mode in action.

Battle royale exploded in popularity thanks to games like PUBG and Fortnite, but we’ve seen it slowly adopted into non-shooters like Tetris 99. Forza Horizon 4 is the latest example of a game genre that isn’t necessarily associated with battle royale adapting those ideas.

Forza Horizon 4 is an open-world game set in Britain, with a season-changing mechanic that makes for new road conditions on a regular basis. GameSpot’s review called it “a winning, all-inclusive recipe that celebrates the joy of driving above all else.”
