Fortnite Week 7 Secret Battle Star Location (Season 8 Discovery Challenge Guide)

We’re nearing the end of Fortnite Season 8, but there’s still plenty to do before Season 9 of the hit battle royale game inevitably arrives. Week 7’s challenges are now available across PS4, Xbox One, PC, Switch, and mobile, giving players another assortment of tasks to complete. Clearing these will help level up your Battle Pass, which in turn will unlock some of this season’s new cosmetic rewards.

If you’re a seasoned Fortnite veteran by this point, you’ll know there’s a secondary reason to complete as many challenges as you can. If you finish all of the ones from a given week, you’ll complete a related Discovery challenge, the reward for which is a special loading screen that contains a subtle clue leading you to a free Battle Star (which levels your Battle Pass up by one tier) or a Banner (which can be used as a profile icon) hiding somewhere around the game’s map.

Complete seven weeks’ worth of challenges this season and you’ll earn the loading screen pictured below. This one features Luxe, the Legendary skin you can unlock at tier 100 of the Season 8 Battle Pass, plundering a treasure-filled cave. However, if you look closely at the left-hand side of the image (behind the words “Battle Royale”), you’ll spot an unusual etching on the cave wall. This’ll lead you to this week’s free Battle Star.

No Caption Provided

The etching is actually an inverted rabbit, which means the Battle Star can be found on the giant wooden rabbit you needed to visit as part of one of Week 6’s challenges. If you don’t remember where the structure is located, it can be found in quadrant A4, between Haunted Hills and Snobby Shores. Glide there at the beginning of a match, then make your way onto the rabbit’s back and the Battle Star will appear. Collect it as you would any other item and finish the match to level your Battle Pass up by one tier.

If you need more help finding the Battle Star, we’ve marked its location on the map below. We also show you exactly where you need to go in video at the top of this guide. Be aware, however, that the Battle Star won’t appear unless you’ve completed seven weeks’ worth of challenges, so you can’t expect to just go to the right place and find it unless you’ve done all of the necessary steps. If there are still challenges you need to complete, you can find tips and guides for them in our full Season 8 challenges roundup.

Fortnite’s Week 7 challenges follow closely behind the game’s 8.30 update, which introduced a big new feature to the game: Reboot Vans. These vehicles allow you to revive a fallen teammate during a match after you’ve collected their Reboot Card. The patch also kicked off a limited-time Buccaneer’s Bounty event, which features its own daily challenges to complete and special rewards to unlock. You can read the full patch notes for the 8.30 update on Epic’s website.

Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order Art Leaks Ahead Of Announcement

Respawn is preparing to take the wraps off of its next game, Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order this weekend, with a panel planned for Star Wars Celebration. Ahead of that big reveal, though, we got our first look at a piece of key art thanks to a retailer’s mistake.

The online retailer Amazon mistakenly put up a listing for a commemorative t-shirt, which showed the piece of artwork. It’s been since removed, but not before fans secured the image for posterity. It shows a Jedi wielding a blue lightsaber and ascending a mountain, accompanied by a small droid that appears to be scanning. In the background, crashed into a landscape full of waterfalls, is what appears to be a Republic-era Star Destroyer.

We already knew the story of Jedi Fallen Order will revolve around a Jedi Padawan who escaped the Emperor’s purge as depicted in the film Revenge of the Sith. The game is said to take place in the Dark Times as the Emperor consolidates his power over the galaxy and hunts down the remaining Jedi. This image itself doesn’t appear to shed much new light on the story, but it does look pretty cool. And hey, we know there will be t-shirts.

Respawn began teasing its impending announcement with a social media post that showed a shrouded, broken lightsaber. It was accompanied by the words “Don’t stand out,” a possible reference to the story of Jedi in hiding.

The Star Wars Celebration panel will begin at 1:30 PM local time in Chicago. That’s 2:30 PM ET / 11:30 AM PT / 7:30 PM GMT / 4:30 AM AEST (Sunday). To watch it all happen live, you can check the livestream here. We’ll also be on-hand to deliver all the latest news from the show as it breaks.

Mortal Kombat Co-Creator Would Like To Branch Out

Mortal Kombat 11 is just a couple of weeks away, marking the latest entry in NetherRealm’s signature fighting franchise. The studio has dabbled in other franchises like Injustice but is most closely identified with MK–NetherRealm’s name and logo are even explicit references to the series. But creative director and franchise co-creator Ed Boon says he’d like to see the studio branch out.

“I think our studio has a number of good games in it that are completely unrelated to Mortal Kombat,” Boon told Game Informer. “While we love making Mortal Kombat games, we would love to expand into other genres, other IP, other things like that, for sure.”

Boon also suggested that the success of Mortal Kombat X is one major reason the studio hasn’t moved on to another one of those ideas it has stored away. MKX notably sold 11 million copies, making it NetherRealm’s best-selling game.

“One of the challenges of having your last game sell the most of any other game, is … it’s hard to just stop from there and say we’re done,” he said. “But certainly we could take a break from it and build up anticipation for a future title.”

Mortal Kombat 11 is the third game in a refreshed series that began with MK9, which was packaged as simply Mortal Kombat. It was treated as a soft reboot of the series, and retold some of the same story beats from the original games. MK11, by comparison, is paying homage to the series’ long legacy with a time travel plot that brings in alternate timelines and paradoxical variations on several characters. It’s been implied that this game treats the entire series as canonical, including those that came before MK9, thanks to the existence of multiple universes.

It also uses the time travel element to introduce various cosmetic changes for characters, but Boon has ruled out the use of loot boxes. This is also the first main Mortal Kombat since the reboot to appear on Nintendo Switch, which appears to work surprisingly well. For more on Mortal Kombat 11, check out the full character roster so far and consult our preorder guide.

Sekiro Sales Are Off To A Hot Start

From Software’s latest game, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, looks to be a hit. Publisher Activision has shared sales figures for the title so far, revealing that Sekiro has already sold over two million copies.

According to a post on Activision’s official website, Sekiro sold two million copies across all platforms–PC, PS4, and Xbox One–in just 10 days. As the announcement highlights, the game holds a 90+ Metacritic review score average across all platforms.

The post further reveals that Sekiro was “the #1 viewed game on Twitch, [with] more than 631 million minutes watched [during] launch weekend.” From there, it went to be viewed for over 1.1 billion minutes in one week.

Activision’s VP of Product Management and Marketing, Michelle Fonseca, made note of the fans’ enthusiasm for these impressive sales figures. “The fans have made Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice one of the most incredible game launches of 2019 thus far,” Fonseca said. “The game has performed well on all platforms including PC and we’re excited by the continued support from gamers and critics alike. Fortnite Buccaneer’s Bounty Challenges And Rewards

Fortnite‘s 8.30 update is now live across PS4, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, and mobile devices. Not only did this week’s patch introduce Reboot Vans to the battle royale game, it also marked the start of a new limited-time event called Buccaneer’s Bounty, which features its own unique set of challenges and rewards.

Buccaneer’s Bounty runs until April 15. Each day of the event, Epic is featuring a different limited-time mode, and there will be a new challenge to complete and cosmetic reward to unlock. If you manage to complete all four of the Buccaneer’s Bounty challenges before the event ends, you’ll also earn a special reward: an Epic-tier emote.

The first Buccaneer’s Bounty challenge is fairly straightforward: visit a Pirate Camp in different matches. You’ll need to travel to 10 of these camps to complete the mission. Fortunately, the Pirate Camps are always located in the same spots, so with a little persistence you should be able to complete this challenge without too much difficulty. Be sure to check out our Pirate Camp location guide if you need help finding them.

The second challenge is likewise self-explanatory: search one Buried Treasure. Once that’s completed, you’ll unlock a special Pirate Parrot spray. You can see all of the Buccaneer’s Bounty challenges so far below. We’ll continue to update this list as new challenges are unlocked each day of the event.

Fortnite Buccaneer’s Bounty Challenges

  1. Visit a Pirate Camp in different matches (10) — Plunder glider
  2. Search Buried Treasure (1) — Pirate Parrot spray
  3. TBD
  4. TBD

In addition to the Buccaneer’s Bounty challenges, Week 7’s challenges are also now live. This week’s tasks run the gamut from visiting three Pirate Camps in a single match to eliminating opponents in named locations and searching chests at Loot Lake or Snobby Shores. Once those are completed, you’ll be another step closer to unlocking the Legendary Ruin skin in Week 8.

Octopath Traveler For PC Leaked By Square Enix

Square Enix announced Octopath Traveler–previously a Nintendo Switch exclusive–is coming to PC on June 7. The game will launch via Steam and be available to buy through Valve’s PC game store or the Square Enix Store.

According to Gematsu, the announcement was made via a now-deleted blog post. The post didn’t mention any changes coming to Octopath Traveler, so it seems to be a straight port to PC. Square Enix has not followed up with an announcement concerning the Octopath Traveller PC port since deleting the blog post.

In our Octopath Traveler review, Peter Brown gave the game an 8/10, writing, “Despite the lackluster stories that pull you through the world, Octopath thrives on its character progression and the temptations of high-level challenges and rewards. The promise of new jobs, exciting boss fights, and powerful gear will inspire you to poke around every corner, and there are no shortage of discoveries to strive for. And all the while, you’re treated to one of the most interesting and effective re-imaginings of a retro aesthetic around. Octopath will likely be a divisive game due to its fractured storytelling, but it’s one worth playing despite its lesser qualities. Its high points are simply too good to ignore.”

Octopath Traveler is an RPG that puts you in the shoes of eight different heroes, each of which possess their own abilities and stories. H’annit, a hunter, for example, can tame animals and is in search of her missing master, while the knight Olberic can challenge NPCs to fights and is seeking redemption for his past actions. You begin the game as one of the eight, and then recruit the other seven in whichever order you choose.

A mobile game prequel, titled Octopath Traveler: Conquerors of the Continent, is in the works. Square Enix has said it plans on making more games like Octopath Traveler in the future, as sales for the RPG exceeded expectations.

Fortnite Challenge List: Visit Pirate Camps, Damage From Ziplines, And More (Season 8, Week 7)

It’s that time of the week again: Fortnite is now in Season 8, Week 7, which means there’s a fresh set of challenges in its wildly popular battle royale. You know the drill: complete the challenges, earn Battle Stars, level up the Battle Pass, and then watch the cosmetic unlocks roll in.

Week 7’s challenges shouldn’t give you too much trouble at all as they’re all pretty easy and, for the most part, can be completed in natural play. In the free section, which is available to all players, there are three challenges. These involve dealing damage with a pickaxe, visiting two locations in a single match, and also heading to three Pirate Camps.

For those that have spent V-Bucks on a premium Battle Pass, you’ll need to do damage to players from above, search chests in Loot Lake or Snobby Shores, take out enemies in five different named locations, and deal damage to enemies while riding a zipline. That last challenge is a multi-part one, so you’ll have another stage open up when it is completed.

No Caption Provided

Fortnite Season 8, Week 7 Challenges

Free

  • Visit Pirate Camps in a single match (3) — 10 Battle Stars
  • Stage 1 of 3: Visit Junk Junction and The Block in a single match (2) — 1 Battle Star
  • Damage opposing players with the Pickaxe (100) — 5 Battle Stars

Battle Pass

  • Get eliminations in different named locations (5) — 10 Battle Stars
  • Search chests at Loot Lake or Snobby Shores (7) — 5 Battle Stars
  • Deal damage to players from above (500) — 5 Battle Stars
  • Stage 1 of 2 – Deal damage to opposing players while riding a zipline (1) — 5 Battle Stars

Damage While Riding Ziplines

The ziplines are fairly plentiful on the island, so the difficulty here really is actually getting on one and then landing shots. Expect lots of players to gather around ziplines and, as we all know, they’re not going to just line up and let everyone take their turn. Prepare to defend yourself while trying to get on the zipline. If you manage to get on a zipline, try and use a weapon that spits out bullets fast, as that’ll give you the best chance of hitting another player.

Damage From Above

Easy peasy: Get to stockpiling resources. Once you’ve got loads of material, start building and go high to give yourself a nice vantage point. When you’re elevated, just start taking shots at anyone around. If you’re feeling particularly spicy, you can aim to do this in the heavily populated areas or even around ziplines to catch players trying to complete the other challenge.

Damage Using Pickaxe

This one is familiar, as Epic likes to throw this challenge in fairly regularly. As a result, you’ve probably got a working strategy at this point. Our one is to group up with other players and wait for ambush opportunities. Now that respawning is a bigger deal in Fortnite, you may get lucky and stumble upon downed enemies or someone so focused on rescuing teammates that they don’t see you coming with your Pickaxe.

Visit Pirate Camps

Epic loves this challenge. It was used in a previous week and is also part of the current Buccaneer’s Bounty event. The upside of re-using old challenges is that we’ve already got a detailed breakdown of how to complete it, including specific locations of the Pirate Camps.

As previously mentioned, a recent Fortnite update has borrowed yet another mechanic from battle royale rival Apex Legends: respawns. You can see how Fortnite and Apex Legends’ respawn systems compare here.

Yakuza Kiwami 2 Announced For PC, Release Date Confirmed

Yakuza Kiwami 2 is coming to PC for the first time, publisher Sega has announced. The Yakuza 2 remake makes its way to Steam on May 9, and it’s available to pre-order now for $30 / £25.

Kiwami 2 first launched on PS4 in Japan at the end of 2017, before coming to the West on the same console in August 2008. May 9 will mark the first time the game has released on any other platform.

Sega says the new version is “fully optimised for PC, including stunning 4K resolution and unlocked framerates, customisable controls and robust graphics options.” In addition, if you pre-purchase now, you’ll “receive the complete Clan Creator Bundle DLC, including super rare Clan Creator Leaders and Packs, exclusive weapons, outfits and more.”

We enjoyed the PS4 version here at GameSpot; critic Edmond Tran awarded it an 8/10 in our Yakuza Kiwami 2 review. “The tale of Tokyo and Osaka, Kiryu and Sayama’s partnership, and Kiryu and Goda’s rivalry remains one of the Yakuza’s best stories, and Kiwami 2’s minor missteps don’t affect the heart of that experience,” he wrote. “The modernization of its presentation and its mechanics elevate it, making it absolutely worth revisiting or experiencing for the first time. Yakuza is an exemplary, if flawed series that does an incredible job of steeping you in contemporary Japanese-style crime drama, and establishing an evocative sense of place. Yakuza Kiwami 2 is an excellent example of the series at its best, coupling its most memorable stories and characters with its most sophisticated mechanics yet.”

Vampyr Sells 1 Million Copies, As Dev Signs Deal For Ambitious New Game

Vampyr, the 2018 game starring a doctor who turns into a vampire and struggles with his new bloodthirst, is a commercial success, it seems. Developer Dontnod Entertainment announced today that the game has sold more than 1 million copies since release. The game was published by Focus Home Interactive, and the two companies are now renewing their publishing deal.

Terms of the renewal were not disclosed, but Dontnod said in a press release that the “new co-production promises to be one of the most ambitious in the history of the publisher and the studio.”

Focus Home COO John Bert said the publisher has been “delighted” to work with Dontnod, going to to tease that the developer’s new game is “intended to be among the most ambitious” in the history of both Focus Home and Dontnod.

Dontnod CEO Oskar Guilbert said in his own statement that Focus Home is an “ideal partner” for their new game thanks in part to Focus Home’s expertise in the areas of marketing, digital distribution, and other factors. “Vampyr is a great success and we are very happy to develop this partnership with this exciting new project,” Guilbert said.

Vampyr is currently available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. It’s free on Xbox One for Xbox Game Pass subscribers. The game is also reportedly coming to Nintendo Switch, but a release date hasn’t been announced.

Based in France, Dontnod was founded in 2008, and its first title was 2013’s Remember Me, which was published by Capcom. The studio went on to create the Life is Strange series with Square Enix, including the spin-off The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit. In addition to Life Is Strange 2, the developer is working on another episodic game, Twin Mirror, which is going to be published by Bandai Namco. The studio is independent, which allows it to choose a publishing partner.
