Luigi’s Mansion 3 Will Be $10 Off At Release This Thursday

Luigi’s Mansion 3 releases on Nintendo Switch this Thursday, and for those looking to get their hands on Nintendo’s latest game, the best deal may be at Walmart. As with other recent releases, Luigi’s Mansion 3 will be on sale for $49.94 at Walmart stores right at launch, according to deals site Cheap Ass Gamer. Unfortunately, these discounts don’t usually extend to Walmart.com, so to save $10 on Luigi’s Mansion 3 this Halloween, you’ll need to drive to your local Walmart store.

This is the latest in a continuing pattern of release-day deals at Walmart, with major games like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, The Outer Worlds, Borderlands 3, and Fire Emblem: Three Houses getting the same in-store treatment. While other stores like Amazon or Best Buy will frequently price match any discounts posted online, the in-store release-day deals remain a Walmart-specific tactic that’s shown no sign of stopping.

Nintendo’s spooky adventure earned an 8/10 in GameSpot’s Luigi’s Mansion 3 review. Critic Kevin Knezevic took issue with some aiming issues and cumbersome puzzles, but he praised Luigi’s satisfying new abilities and the collectible-filled hotel you never want to stop exploring.

“The strength of the Luigi’s Mansion series has always stemmed from the satisfaction of exploring its carefully constructed settings, and in that regard Luigi’s Mansion 3 certainly succeeds,” he wrote. “The game may not radically diverge from the series’ formula, but it offers up another meticulously crafted set of challenges to overcome while smoothing out some of the issues that held Dark Moon back, and the sense of accomplishment you feel when you clear a particularly head-scratching obstacle is just as potent now as the first time Luigi unwillingly strapped a vacuum to his back and stepped into a haunted mansion.”

And for those of us without a Walmart store nearby, never fear–you can still take advantage of this free, printable, and absolutely terrifying Gooigi mask from Nintendo.

Fortnite Ghost Town, Haunted Forest, And Spooky Farm Location Guide (Fortnitemares Challenge)

The Fortnitemares 2019 event is now live in Fortnite: Battle Royale, bringing a new Storm King limited-time mode to the game, along with a related set of challenges. Many of these missions are tied to the aforementioned LTM, while a handful are more obviously Halloween-inspired, like destroying haunted household furniture and leaping out of hideouts when unsuspecting players are nearby.

One of the trickier Storm King challenges asks you to search chests at a haunted forest, a ghost town, and a spooky farm. The challenge itself is easy enough to complete, but the hard part is knowing where to go, especially if you’re not very familiar with Fortnite’s new map yet. If you fall in that camp, don’t worry; we show you what to do below.

Where Are The Haunted Forest, Ghost Town, And Spooky Farm Locations?

As the challenge states, you need to search chests at three specific areas. The haunted forest and spooky farm are simple enough to find; the former is Weeping Woods, while the later is Frenzy Farm–both named locations that you can easily spot on the game’s map.

The ghost town, however, is a bit harder to track down. Unlike the other two areas, it isn’t a named location, so you can’t obviously see it just by looking at a map of the island. For this one, you’ll need to go to quadrant G1, in the top portion of the island. The town is northwest of Steamy Stacks, and it’s received a ghostly makeover for this event.

How To Complete The Challenge

Once you know where the locations are, all you need to do is head to all three areas and search one chest in each. Do that and you’ll complete the challenge, netting you 30,000 XP for your troubles. If you need help completing any other challenges from this season, be sure to check out our ongoing Fortnite Chapter 2 challenges roundup for our other maps and guides.

New Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Trailer Reveals Nightsisters And More Lightsaber Battles

We’re only a few weeks away from the release of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and EA have released a new trailer showcasing some of the more exciting events to come in the story’s campaign. Releasing on November 15 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, Respawn Entertainment’s single-player game will focus on new protagonist Cal Kestis and his growth from Jedi Padawan to Jedi Master.

In the trailer, we see Cal traveling to planets like Kashyyyk, Dathomir, and some new worlds that will make their Star Wars debut. Some standout moments from the trailer include the appearance of a Nightsister on Dathomir and a confrontation with an Imperial Inquisitor known as The Ninth Sister. The Inquisitors are strictly imperial, so they only had a major presence in Rebels–though the Nightsisters did feature in both Clone Wars and Rebels.

Recently, I got to play the opening hours of Fallen Order, and I was impressed with the new approach it was taking. As the first metroidvania Star Wars game, you’re given a surprising amount of freedom and flexibility to explore the worlds and the larger galaxy itself. While I got to travel to planets like Zeffo and Kashyyyk, other planets like Dathomir proved to be a much more significant challenge. Though the roaming Rancors can easily outmatch you on Dathomir, the game gives you the freedom to explore the world regardless, which is certainly refreshing from the more linear style that set-piece driven games single-player games tend to be.

Also revealed today was news that Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will mark the first EA game in nearly ten years to release on Steam. While EA has had a go of it with its digital marketplace Origin, they’re broadening their reach on PC to Steam to find a broader audience. In an interview with Gameindustry.Biz, EA senior VP Mike Blank stated that as the market has evolved throughout the decade, there was a need to change and adapt.

“Since the time we removed our games from Steam, there’s been this dramatic increase in the number of gaming services, which you would think would be really good for players,” he said. “But I think in many cases, it’s the exact opposite. It creates more difficulty for players, and providing player choice–from my perspective and speaking on behalf of EA–is really critical. It’s an opportunity to make it possible for people to play where they want, to reduce that fragmentation and make it more frictionless. Reducing that fragmentation is really important. It’s the most player-first thing we can do.”

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot Will Feature Vegito As A Playable Character

Bandai Namco’s Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot will allow you to swap between a plethora of Z-Fighters, including Goku, Kid Gohan, Vegeta, and many more. Another playable character has been announced for the upcoming action-RPG–and this time, it’s the Potara fusion Vegito.

A recent issue of Weekly Jump confirmed that Vegito will be playable when DBZ: Kakarot arrives on January 17, 2020 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The reveal didn’t specify how involved Vegito’s role is, but the magazine clarified that Kid Buu will be a boss later in the game’s story.

Unlike Gogeta, who appears after Goku and Vegeta perform the fusion dance, Vegito emerges when both characters wear a single Potara earring on opposite ears. Vegito returns in Dragon Ball Super’s “Future” Trunks Saga and is playable in Arc System Works’ Dragon Ball FighterZ.

DBZ: Kakarot was revealed during Microsoft’s E3 2019 press conference, where Bandai Namco and Xbox unveiled a gameplay trailer showing off familiar faces and huge boss battles. A separate issue of Jump magazine announced that the action-RPG will stretch into the Cell Saga, as well as cover filler material and introduce new characters.

Pre-ordering DBZ: Kakarot nets you a few bonuses, like an additional side quest and early access to Bonyu’s training. There are also plenty of editions available to purchase, including Standard, Deluxe, Ultimate, and Collector’s. The Ultimate edition features the season pass while the Collector’s edition comes with an 8x8x8 diorama figure.

While GameSpot hasn’t reviewed Stardew Valley’s mobile port, the user reviews on both iOS and Android speak for themselves, with an average 4.8/5 rating and 15,000 reviews on the Apple App Store and an average 4.6/5 and 25,000 reviews on Google Play. In GameSpot’s Stardew Valley review, the game earned a 9/10.

“On the surface, Stardew Valley is a game about farming, but there are more adventures awaiting curious players beyond cultivating a rich and bountiful garden,” wrote Mary Kish in her review. “From mining and fishing to making friends and falling in love, Stardew Valley’s Pelican Town is stuffed with rewarding opportunities. As modern-day woes give way to pressing matters on the farm and within your newfound community, Stardew Valley’s meditative activities often lead to personal reflection in the real world. Fortnite’s Halloween Fortnitemares Event Now Live, Features New Skins, LTMs, And More

As teased, Fortnite‘s Fortnitemares event has returned. The Halloween-themed festivities are now underway on PS4, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, and mobile devices, and they include new limited-time modes, along with a new set of challenges to complete and some devilish skins and other cosmetics to earn.

Headlining this year’s Fortnitemares event are three special LTMs. The first is called Storm King, and it has players taking on the titular super boss. This mode, however, is currently disabled while Epic addresses an issue. Additionally, the developer has highlighted two community-made LTMs: Gun Fright and Mansion of Power.

Alongside the LTMs is a set of Storm King challenges. These are, fittingly, Halloween-themed, and they have you destroying haunted household furniture, searching chests in a ghost town, and leaping out of hideouts when unsuspecting players are nearby. Complete the challenges and you’ll unlock Halloween-themed cosmetics, including a special Storm Sail umbrella.

Finally, Epic has added the Cryptic Curse Bundle to the in-game store, which includes the Phantom Outfit and Time Keeper Back Bling. You can unlock different styles for both of these cosmetics by completing the Cryptic Curse challenges. Fortnitemares runs until November 4. You can read more about the event on the official Fortnite website.

Epic kicked off Chapter 2 of Fortnite earlier this month, and it made a ton of changes to the hit battle royale game. Not only are there new mechanics like fishing and weapon upgrading, the map has also been revamped, and a variety of new challenges are already available. If you need help completing those, be sure to check out our ongoing Fortnite Chapter 2 challenges roundup for our maps and guides on this season’s trickiest missions.

Mario, Legend of Zelda Creator Is Japan’s “Person Of Cultural Merit”

Like Studio Ghibli founder Hayao Miyazaki and “founding mother” of shojo manga Moto Hagio before him, legendary video game producer Shigeru Miyamoto has received one of Japan’s highest honors for a creator.

The “Person of Cultural Merit” award is given to those who have made great cultural contributions to the country and is officially handed out by the Japanese government. A total of 54 people, including Miyamoto, have been handed the award. A ceremony recognizing Miyamoto’s achievements will be held on November 5 in a Tokyo hotel.

Miyamoto said at an announcement that he wants to continue to bring smiles to people’s faces around the world and has no plans to retire from Nintendo and/or video games anytime soon, according to Crunchyroll.

Miyamoto is widely recognized as the creative force behind the Mario and Legend of Zelda franchises, serving as designer, director, and producer on a handful of titles in both buckets. He is also the creator of many other acclaimed Nintendo properties, including Donkey Kong, F-Zero, and Star Fox.

Miyamoto’s last production credit was The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which has seen widespread critical and commercial praise since its 2017 launch on Nintendo Switch and Wii U. In our review, we awarded it a 10/10, saying, “Breath of the Wild is a defining moment for The Legend of Zelda series, and the most impressive game Nintendo has ever created.”

During E3 2019, Nintendo confirmed that Breath of the Wild will get a sequel. Not long after, it was reported that game producer Eiji Aonuma will return for the sequel, while Miyamoto’s involvement remains unclear. Still, Nintendo has a lot of ideas for Link and Zelda’s next adventure in Hyrule.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Online’s Halloween Event Grants Special Rewards

Red Dead Online, the multiplayer mode in Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2, has gotten a spooky update just in time for the Halloween festivities. The new additions include an anxiety-inducing game mode, a new bounty to collect, more items in the shop, and even cosmetic masks.

To start, the game has added a “Fear of the Dark” limited-time mode to the Showdown Mode selection. It pits super-strong Night Stalkers against human Hunters. The deck is stacked against the mortals, but skull masks are littered around the battlefield, so the more masks the Hunters collect, the weaker the Night Stalkers become, while the Hunters have their weapon power increased. Hunters win by collecting all the masks and wiping out the Night Stalkers, while Night Stalkers win by defeating all the Hunters or just surviving until time expires.

The mode will be available through November 12. Don’t wait to play, though, because you can get 3X Gold and 2X RDO$ through November 3.

The announcement also details a new bounty, the former mayor Tobin Winfield. He was caught embezzling public funds and went into hiding near Thieves’ Landing. Plus this week you can get 30% off sharp objects like cleavers, machetes, tomahawks, and throwing knives.

Finally, you can claim an exclusive mask by marking a specialization. Bounty Hunters get a Creature mask, Traders get a Swine mask, and Collectors get a Masquerade mask. If you achieve Tier 10 and 20 of the Outlaw Pass, you can get special Freak and Horror masks, too. Winning a round of Fear of the Dark will also earn you an exclusive tint for the Freak Mask. Those are available through November 3.

Plus as usual, the update brings a new selection of items for sale through the catalog, and more stipends to collect for Collectors.

The Fear of the Dark mode will still be going when the PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2 launches on November 5, so presumably PC adopters will have a little time with it too–though they’ll miss out on some of the timed rewards. For more details check out our Red Dead Redemption 2 PC pre-order guide.
