Resident Evil Resistance Introduces A New Character With An Odd Relation To Jill Valentine

Capcom announced a remake of Resident Evil 3 earlier this week, during PlayStation’s final State of Play of 2019. As a surprise, the announce trailer also revealed that Resident Evil Resistance will be included as part of Resident Evil 3 when it launches early next year. The asymmetrical four vs. one multiplayer game was originally shown at this year’s Tokyo Game Show, back when it was codenamed Project Resistance. It pits four survivors against a single Mastermind as they attempt to escape a fiendish experiment.

Now, Capcom has introduced one of the previously unannounced characters you’ll be able to play as when attempting to survive the maniacal Mastermind’s maze of horrors. His name? Martin Sandwich.

The young Sandwich is a skilled engineer and mechanic who’s able to create traps to slow down or stun enemies. Impressive, considering he looks like a small child. Martin Sandwich is actually 19 years old despite his baby face, and joins a cast of characters that includes Samuel Jordan, a 21-year-old boxer; January Van Sant, a 21-year-old hacker; 22-year-old park ranger Becca Woolett; 23-year-old grad student Valerin Harmon; and Tyrone Henry, a 25-year-old firefighter. You’ll notice that none of these names are particularly unusual, aside from January Van Sant which is a little out there.

Martin Sandwich stands out for obvious loaf-related reasons, but he’s probably also an intentional reference to the Jill Sandwich scene from the original 1996 release of Resident Evil.

He might be able to build traps, but can he escape them as proficiently as his namesake? And will Barry Burton be around if he does? We’ll have to find out when Resident Evil 3 launches on April 3, 2020 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. We’ve even got you covered with a comprehensive pre-order guide.

Wasteland 2 Is Currently Free In The GOG Winter Sale

Wasteland 2, InXile Entertainment’s post-apocalyptic RPG, is currently free in the GOG.com winter sale. You better be quick to grab it, though, because the offer is only around for another 24 hours. Here it is.

This free version of Wasteland 2 is the Director’s Cut Digital Classic Edition, which also includes the original Wasteland–first released in 1988. The post-apocalyptic tactical-RPG sequel follows a ragtag group of wasteland protectors known as the Desert Raiders. After one of its members is brutally murdered while investigating a strange radio signal, you pick up the investigation where they left off, taking you on an adventure across the wastes of a post-nuclear fallout Arizona.

Reviewer Daniel Starkey gave Wasteland 2 a score of 8/10 in GameSpot’s review, saying, “In many ways, Wasteland 2 represents everything about classic computer role-playing games that the modern iterations of Fallout aren’t. Where Fallout 3 gives you an extreme amount of general latitude, Wasteland 2 focuses on the narrative minutiae and tangible consequences of your individual actions. Where Fallout 3 tries to craft a broad world that feels whole, Wasteland 2 loosely strings together several locations with hidden connections, with secrets waiting to be discovered and picked over. And where Fallout masterfully uses comedy to lambast the ludicrous tone of paranoia surrounding Cold War America, Wasteland 2 attacks the natural arrogance of the individual. It forces us to confront the painful truth of our own blind self-righteousness, and shows us how childish our own grand plans truly are.”

This is an ideal opportunity to get into the Wasteland series if you haven’t already, with Wasteland 3 launching early next year. We were able to get our hands on it a few months ago, and were left thoroughly impressed by the upcoming RPG.

GOG.com’s winter sale is running until January 2, 2020, and features plenty of mouth-watering deals on games such as A Plague Tale: Innocence, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, Ashen, and dozens more. You can also pick up two GameSpot 10/10s, with deals on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Game of the Year Edition and Divinity: Original Sin 2 – Definitive Edition.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition Delayed

Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition has been delayed until Summer 2020. The remaster of the 2003 GameCube game was originally revealed in September 2018 and was scheduled to release in 2019. Earlier this year, however, Square announced that it would launch on January 23, 2020, but it has now been pushed back further.

“Today we’re announcing that the release date for the game is being moved to Summer 2020,” the official Final Fantasy Twitter account tweeted. “We’ve made the decision to adjust the release date to allow the development team some extra time to make final adjustments to the game to make this the best experience possible. We know you’ve been waiting patiently for this game, and we hope you’ll continue to support us as you have done so far, over the coming months through to launch.”

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition is coming to PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android devices, with cross-play and cross-saves supported across all four platforms. The delay does put more distance between Crystal Chronicles and the release of Final Fantasy VII Remake, which is set to launch on PlayStation 4 on March 3, 2020.

Leaks Suggest Fortnite Is Adding An Annual Battle Pass

New leaks suggest Epic Games is planning to shake up Fortnite‘s traditional Battle Pass structure by introducing an all-new, all-encompassing Annual Pass.

Fornite patch version v11.30 rolled out across all platforms today, and Fortnite News has discovered files hidden within the latest update that refer to a “2020 Annual Pass.” The year-long commitment grants access to all 2020 Battle Passes plus seven exclusive cosmetics, and also comes with the more expensive Battle Pass “Battle Bundle” versions, which instantly unlock 25% of the content in each Battle Pass as soon as they release.

There’s no sign of a release date for the Annual Pass, nor any details on pricing. With Christmas coming up, it would make sense for Epic to launch it in time to fill digital stockings with the gift of a year’s worth of Fortnite. We may know more concrete details tonight as a Fortnite announcement is expected to take place at The Game Awards. The annual show is set to kick off at 5:30 PM PT / 7:30 PM CST / 8:30 PM ET on December 12 (and 1:30 AM GMT on December 13) and can be streamed here on GameSpot and on Mixer, Twitch, YouTube, and elsewhere.
